I read this over at http://www.thedigitalbits.com/ this evening and thought everyone here might be interested in this news.

QuoteIn other news, here's something cool: There's a new Kickstarter project by FarSight Studios meant to digitize classic pinball tables and the latest one is Star Trek: The Next Generation. Pretty neat. They're also doing The Twilight Zone. Both are legendary pinball machines. The goal is to create modern videogame versions (console systems, iPad, etc) of all the classic pinball tables that accurately emulate the playing experience.

Cool!  My dream would be to have an actual pinball or other arcade machine down in the Rico Cave but this might be the next best thing.

That is cool, I know I had a Williams Pinball game a few years back with a bunch of tables on it. So hopefully this gets off the ground and goes as would love to play that TNG one. Like Rico said as well, would be great to have a Pinball or Arcade Machine in my basement, but chances of that ever happening are very low.

Hmm, couldn't find that particular link on the site but sounds like a worthy goal.

On the other hand, there's nothing like the bells, lights and flipper play of an old time pinball machine :0)

PC pinball simulators are fun, but you should meet the challenge of the steal ball standing - one hand on either corner of the table ready for battle.
If you haven't got the room or cash for an arcade machine there is still hope.
Tomy made a great little pinball machine that you can still find on eBay for around $100.00. Astro Shooter is fun game that has all the action of a bigger table in a small footprint.

Okay I see it now, thx.
Looks like they may have to double their goal to $110,00 to afford the licensing.

Just remembered a company called Zizzle that was trying to revive the 3/4 scale home machines from the 70's

...I've seen a couple of their machines on ebay - cheap!

I love pinball!  Was totally addicted in college, and there were so many awesome tables at the time.  I'm enjoying the "new" digital only tables on Xbox live in Pinball FX 2...I've actually bought every table and that's a lot, they've been doing a lot of Marvel themed tables and they are really, really, good.  Also very happy with the iOS versions of classic tables in Pinball Arcade on my iPad, like Medieval Madness, Bride of Pinbot, and Funhouse.  I would be very pleased to see recreations of Star Trek TNG and Twilight Zone, which are two of the best tables ever made in pinball history, but I imagine the licensing would be very difficult if not impossible with Trek.  I also would love to own an actual working classic table but I hear they're alot of trouble to maintain.

When I was a kid playing pinball at a local bowling alley, a repairman would stop by and let my friends and I watch as he opened up the games for maintenance.
Nice guy, he always left free plays for us.
