Wow, that stinks.  My brother was rear-ended coming out of a parking lot many years back.  They called the police, and the insurance handled everything.  But years later, my brother got papers in the mail that the other driver was suing him for medical expenses.  What?!  He got it all to go away, but it was just ridiculous.

Everyone in my family now either carries a camera at all times or keeps a disposable camera in their glove compartment.  So even if you don't call the police to come, you can document the scene of any accident, taking pictures of the other car, driver, plates, scene, and any damage.

That's a lot easier now that all cell phones have cameras. Good idea!
