I've said this in the past, but I think my love for all things Trek devloped more because of the adventures I had in my own mind playing with my action figures than it was based on any actual episodes.  I didn't really get hooked on actually watching Trek until Wrath of Khan, and I was already a teenager by then.

If they're young kids let them watch some of the more exciting TNG episodes then get Rico to send you some of his TNG action figures, I think he has about 15 Geordi Laforges.

I think I gave away two Geordi's so I might be down to only 13 left now.  ;)

My 2 cents, depending on how old your Kids are, the most recent Trek movie might be your best bet, as it would be the most visually appealing since it is new, and the story moves pretty good. Also it has plenty of humor in it which kids like, where some of the other Trek movies humor is more Subtle.

If they are older, then maybe Next Generation as a lot of people really connect with it. Though the thing that I have noticed up here in Canada, that if you don't have the DVD's, the broadcast quality of TNG, Voyager and DS9 don't look that good as look very poor and muddy on high def TV's. Maybe it broadcast better in the states, but could potentially turn them off if doesn't look great. The remastered TOS and Enterprise looks good, so that might be something to consider. But again depending on how old they are, the Old Tech from TOS might throw them off a bit, and you might have to explain it, and they will not hold the Nostalgic feel for it like we do.

Funny because my kids call the new film 'baby star trek', mainly because kirk is born at the beginning. Well its going to be a long task but I will prevail!!
In life all you need to be happy is a roof over your head, a bottle of wine and a good episode of Star Trek....everything else is a bonus.
