That was such a mediocre film, I'm surprised anyone liked it that much.  It had potential, but fizzled and I was bored the entire film.  Maybe I don't like greek mythology, idk.

I'm really glad that there is clear evidence on how bad your taste can be at times. This is one of those cases. =P The first question you need to ask yourself is why go see a film with a subject that you don't like?

Ignoring Greek myth, what fantasy movies have you enjoyed?

Never saw this at the theater but I really want to get Percy Jackson, Sourcerers Apprentice & Prince of Persia on Blu-ray. I think I would really enjoy each one of those.

I saw Percy Jackson and Sorcerers Apprentice in the theater and caught Prince of Persia on Bluray.. I actually have all three movies on BluRay. All are fun and entertaining.

Well Geekyfanboy & X looks like I need to stay out of The Bargain Box (50 cent comics place) and save my money for those movies! Do they look awesome on blu-ray??

I actually didn't see it in theaters but on DVD at a friend's house.  It just felt like all the actors were phoning it in, especially the big name ones.  There was just simply no intensity to the movie that there should have been.  Or maybe it has something to do with seeing How To Train Your Dragon right before it which was an awesome movie.  I'm not entirely sure but there was just nothing special about it.  Although it was better than Clash of The Titans.

And what fantasy movies have I enjoyed?  Well, lets look at the list shall we:

LOTR
HTTYD
Avatar
Harry Potter
Pirates 1-3
Prince of Persia
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
9
Chronicles of Narnia

I think I've made my point.

Not really. You've listed a bunch of pretty recent fantasy and nothing that isn't pretty damned safe. In fact, you kind of just proved my point. No Legend, Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Willow. Avatar is pretty much sci-fi not fantasy. 9 is sci-fi, Pirates is more swashbucking action than fantasy. You listed Narnia and LOTR, but weren't specific on them. Did you like them all equally

So, the list doesn't help much. I like HTTYD, but I wasn't blown away by it, it was great for keeping my kid entertained and I liked it too, but it wasn't some masterpiece of modern cinema.

In the end this is probably the safest list of likes that I've seen in some time. Pick a movie that a vocal group of people liked recently and it's on the list.

POP is the only one that isn't that safe.

If you said Goonies, I'd have given that one to you. Maybe even Monster Squad.

I actually just saw Princess Bride and liked it, forgot to include it on the list.

However, your being unfair in pointing out movies that came out before my time.  Regardless of their availability on Netflix, I haven't had a chance to see them.  And without Netflix, I sure as heck would never be able to see them.  (Exempting Tuck Everlasting, but I have never heard of that movie)  And no, the go-buy-them-at-the-store argument doesn't work since the stores around here have such a limited collection and typically only stock the latest.  All our movie rental businesses have died off too.  So how does that prove your point, those are all before my time, so does that mean there is no good Fantasy movies now?

So who cares if my list is safe, this is what I've seen.  Just because I'm not more than 40 years old and never got to see those classics, doesn't invalidate my point any X.  There is a list miles long of movies and shows I haven't seen.  I got to see what I could.

All the movies I listed were ones I've seen last decade exempting Princess Bride that I saw just last month from Netflix but somehow forgot about it when compiling this list.  This isn't all of them either, its just the ones that readily come to mind.  I've seen more.

And I checked IMDB and all those movies I listed are listed as Fantasy Genre.

As for Narnia, I liked the first one more.  I enjoyed the Return of the King the most from LOTR, but the other two are very close behind it.

I'm less than 40 and these movies aren't all that old, but I can see your take on it.
