I just came across this again and thought I would share with you guys. If you haven't seen them they are a must for any Firefly fans... They came out a few months before the movie Serenity came out. They are six quick video clips that Joss did with Summer Glau (River). Someone strung them together but they put the last one first which doesn't make sense.. but it's nice to have them all strung together. Watch her go from sweet innocent girl to crazy killing machine. Summer is awesome in these and the guy playing the doctor is Joss Whedon himself.

Oh that is fantastic and the music is perfect. I must go watch Serenity now.
I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

My wife and I started watching Firefly again.

Damn, I love that show

I'm with you IC... I love this series. I just got done watching Out of Gas, Airel and War Games. It put me in a very happy mood today. This show is the best.

If any of you in the US wanted to get Firefly the entire series boxset on DVD.. it's on sale at Target for only $20 bucks... that's a great deal. This awesome sci fi TV show should be part of everyone's DVD library.

I had heard about this from the SoCal Browancoat group I belong to when the shuttle went up but never found anything online about it. This is pretty cool news.

Firefly & Serenity in space

This news is a big damn deal to die hard fans of Firefly and Serenity (we call 'em 'Browncoats'). Apparently there are some Browncoats at NASA and they have managed to get DVDs of Joss Whedon's television show and movie up to the International Space Station. Astronaut Steven R. Swanson is the fan who just returned from the ISS after delivering the DVDs (oh yeah, and other important astronaut/survival supplies).

There's a fan page that blogs about it called Breaking Atmo. The most recent posts has all sorts of photos of Firefly and Serenity DVDs floating in space. One of the blog posts says that "Swanny" got the other astronauts addicted to Firefly while they were all in quarantine for five hours before the shuttle Atlantis launched earlier this month.

I've also heard that there are a number of astronauts at NASA who are addicted to Battlestar Galactica. Can you blame them?!?

Captain Jean-Luc Picard

The TV show is great.  I'm glad they made a movie to wrap up the loose ends.  What did you all think of the Serenity crashlanding in the movie?  I loved it!  It reminded me of the Enterprise crashlanding in Star Trek: Generations. :o

At least folks won't let this topic die.. maybe one day will get a sequel.

Joss: No Serenity sequel on the way

If you're holding your breath for a sequel to "Serenity," you may want to exhale. According to Joss Whedon, the creator of the first film and the series it was based on "Firefly," while he and the cast are ready and eager to make another installment, there aren't any studios willing to take up the mantle of a second "Serenity" movie.

"The rumors are there because people really wish it would happen," Whedon told MTV.

"There's been no movement," he said. "Those rumors are just rumors, and I don't think they're going to stop, no matter how many times I say, 'No, it's not happening.' Because somebody will say, 'He said yes. His eyes said yes. His nose said yes. There was a yes-iness about him.' Because people want it."

The latest rumor seems to stem from this year's ComicCon. Star Summer Glau, when asked about what she'd like to see happen to her character River in future comic book installments, stated she was ready and willing to do a second feature. "Oh, I would love to go back and do another 'Serenity' movie," she gushed.

"It's just that I miss everyone," she explained. "That experience for me was the best acting experience of my life. I had never really worked before, and we were truly like a family. It was an amazing and fun time for all of us. I feel so blessed that we got to do the film at all." But, she added, "I feel at peace with it," so if there weren't another movie, she'd be OK.

While "Serenity" may not generate a sequel, fans can take some comfort that both "Firefly" and "Serenity" are scheduled to debut on Blu-Ray later this year. Also, with the success of the "Firefly" mini-series from Dark Horse comics, there is a good possibility Mal and the rest of the crew will have further adventures at a comic-shop near you.

For what it's worth, if you're in the UK, haven't seen this film (I haven't) and have a freeview box, it's on ITV4 at the moment.

I caught a bit of it yesterday but it's on again tonight (after the first episode of Sanctuary S2) and may well be repeated again later in the week I guess.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.
