On the stage, not TV.  I'm not sure about this...

So glad he's coming back... good for him.. seems like he still has it after all these years.

I am torn because my daughter absolutely loves the Pee Wee Herman Show, we have it on DVD and she watches it all the time.  I have a feeling his comeback will be a bit edgier and more geared towards adults.  His original stage show was raunch and completely adult humor.  Even in his kids show there were pretty thinly veiled adult references, which is common in kids entertainment but not at the level that Pee Wee took it.  Certain elements of his show made me a little uncomfortable, such as the frequent subtextual sexual comments between Cowboy Curtis and Miss Yvonne, and the extraordinarily buff young man wearing nothing but a Speedo that used to show up all the time for no apparent reason during season one.

Dont get me wrong either, I am a huge fan, I think he is hysterically funny. Tim Burton's Pee Wee's Big Adventure was and is one of my favorite movies, and I think he got totally railroaded out of Hollywood for no good reason at all.  I respect entertainers that flirt with the line between inappropriate and appropriate humor, but it gets too dicey when you are considered a children's entertainer.

I guess I'll just have to tell my daughter that Pee Wee grew up and she'll have to wait till she is older to see his new material.
