Found this blurb about birth order...

Eldest children
- socially dominant
- highly intellectua
- extremely conscientious
- less open to new ideas
- prone to perfectionism and people pleasing

Middle children (MIDDLEMAN!!)  - this is where I fall
- competitive in nature (Yes)
- natural entrepreneurs (Yes)
- diplomatic and flexible (No, I'm an idealist)
- musically or academically gifted (Yes)

Youngest children
- dependent and selfish
- life of the party
- fun, confident
- comfortable entertaining others.

I think it also depends on the number of siblings and maybe the generation. How accurate is it for the rest of us?

I've heard of most of those traits before in these types of studies.  I think there is a little truth in some of it from the people that I have known.  I'm the eldest and I think a little bit of those traits suit me.  At least the first three points.  ;)

Interesting list.  And it seems to be pretty accurate.

Well, sort of.

As the eldest I suspect I fail on social dominance :)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I'm the youngest of three (two boys, one girl), and I don't think I fit the profile at all.  I have most of the eldest qualities (not sure exactly what "Social dominance" is in this sense).  I'm not the life of the party, fun, or confident, and I'm not especially comfortable "entertaining"... I find it a bit stressful.  However, I am very prone to perfectionism and the procrastination that usually accompanies it, I like to think I'm intellectual and extremely conscientious.

Perhaps if gender was included, as the "eldest" female, this is accurate!

I think these traits are fairly accurate. I'm the oldest and the traits suit me well except for the first one. Most of the other traits also fit my siblings.

There are only two of us in my family but the traits for Eldest and Youngest pretty much match me and my younger brother.

I'm the oldest of three. My sister is the middle child, my brother the youngest. This list does not fit my me or my siblings. Billy, the youngest, is an over achiever and never was in trouble. Michelle is a trouble maker.  :hate   We always said it was because the middle child often believes they are ignored. So my sister was a rebel to get attention. And the youngest believe they have to compete with the others, so they are over-achievers. The oldest take responsibility for looking after their younger siblings so we develop a responsible streak. At least that's what I've read.

Eldest children (Me)
- socially dominant (Yes, but I'm more comfortable in crowds of people I know. When I don't know everyone, I'm quiet and observant)
- highly intellectual (Not sure about HIGHLY intellectual...I'm more creative)
- extremely conscientious (Yes)
- less open to new ideas (depends on the idea)
- prone to perfectionism and people pleasing (Yes to the first, no to the second)

Me, I'm the elder brother to my one and only little brother, and this fits the two of us really well.

I'm the middle son of six children (three boys and three girls).  I guess that makes me Bobby Brady.  :)  Looking at the list, only two of the four apply to me.
Middle children (MIDDLEMAN!!)  - this is where I fall
- competitive in nature (No)
- natural entrepreneurs (No)
- diplomatic and flexible (Yes)
- musically or academically(Yes)

I'm the youngest of three, and this list is almost completely wrong for all of us.  Maybe because my sister and brother are so much older than I am am (17 and 13 years, respectively)... but none of the lists fit Liz - at all.  My brother is the highly intellectual one.  And I think I fall somewhere between the Eldest and Middle descriptions, but probably closer to Middle.
