I can not get excited for the Transformers sequal. I was a huge Transformers fan as a kid. they were my favorite toys, and it was my favorite cartoon. So I was crazy excited for the movie.  Well I hated it. I thought they did a terrible job. They made the movie about the boring human characters and barely had any interactions between the actual transformers. Shia was good in the movie and I thought it started out well, but I thought every other human character in the movie were weak. Well Megan Fox was incredibly hot. John Turturro's character was the worst, and I love that guy.
The action was impossible to follow, you couldn't tell what was happening and who was who. the Transformers all look to similar.
Needless to say I was beyond disappointed.

I don't know if you're the only one, but I definitely don't agree with you. I enjoyed the movie and didn't see any problem with it beyond anything touched by the cube while on Earth became an evil robot.

I am a HUGE transformers fans. I was there when the motion picture hit the big screen and cried when Prime died. I was watching subtitled bootleg imports of the later seasons of generation one after the Headmaster / Targetmaster arc.

I was more than please with what was on screen. I think that they managed to build a great story with a nice background while retaining some of the things that made Transformers magical for me as a child. As an adult, I knew that they couldn't just import the original story and make it accessible to new fans and old. While it might have been nice to see more giant robots, that would not have made a lot of money. As a director, you have to make it for Joe Normal to understand and enjoy. A few hours mostly about giant robots wouldn't have filled the seats. The humans were there because a human perspective was needed to sell the audience on the giant robot aspect of the movie.

I also had no problem identifying any of the Transformers at any point. I respect your opinion that they looked to similar, but I didn't see that. Perhaps, you had different expectations on what you were going to see and when it wasn't that, the rest of your movie experience was tinted by the failed expectations?

I too was/am a huge Transformers fan, I started secondary school on 1985 (I was twelve) and i started on my birthday, well that sucked but when i got home my birthday present was Prime. From then on i saved up and got the toys, I saw the film at the cinema and came out playing robots with my pals. Now i knew that i wouldn't have that same feeling with the live version but i still enjoyed it. I thought it could have been made better though. One Shia Le Bouff (or however you spell his wooden acting name) was awful, how did he get through acting school, Megan Fox is great (but for eye candy only, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing) but you know whats she all about in the film. Bumblebee not speaking was just tosh, and I see nothing wrong with him being the yellow beetle, i don't see why they could not have done that.
Moaning bit over I loved Prime, and I'm so glad they got Peter Cullen to do the voice, Hugo was just perfect as megatron. Now Megatron, well we knew he couldn't be a gun, that would have been daft but i think i would have liked to have seen him a bit more smooth in design.
I'm very much looking forward to the second one, I'm hoping we get a bit more robot action and less shia la brush.

I am not a Transformers fan but I thought the first film was fun for what it is. My biggest complaint would be that it was insufferably long. Otherwise a fun romp.

I really was never into the Transformers cartoon stuff.  I think I was a bit older when it really hit and I just never really watched.  I enjoyed the first movie quite a bit.  I thought the action was well done and even the story wasn't too bad.  I did find some of the robot fights a bit hard to follow, but overall I had a good time.  I'm looking forward to the next one too.  A crazy, Michael Bay, things blow up summer movie!

I loved the original Transformers cartoons as a kid and I loved the comics even more. Funny thing is I never really had any of the toys! The were really expensive I suppose so I think I only had one small solitary transformer.

When I heard they were doing a film I was excited. After seeing the film I wasn't too disappointed. I wasn't keen on some of the redesigns of the robots but that was expected. My major gripe was that there were too many 'silly moments' in the film which took me out of the story such as the peeing joke for example.

I guess I went into the film knowing from experience that these things can never be replicated the same way on the big screen that has to cater to a larger audience.

Really looking forward to the sequel.

Like most guys my age, I was a big fan of the cartoon when I was a kid, so I was really looking forward to the movie.  For the most part, I enjoyed it; it was a fun, mindless special effects action flick.  And not once during the film did I stop and consider how silly the premise of car-robots is, which I guess says a lot for the creative minds who brought us the movie.

I agree.  That's the one issue I had with the film.  I can't stand Michael Bey's crazy, frenetic camera work & choppy editing.  I went to the film to see photo-realistic robots kicking each other's butts, but the way that the fight scenes were filmed/edited made the action hard to follow at times.

Despite this, I plan on seeing the new film as well.  I'm not as excited about it as I am about Trek, Terminator, or even Wolverine, but I plan on checking it out.

See, I'm the exact oppisote of you. I never grew up on Transformers, but I LOVED the movie.
