New show is up focusing on Ray Harryhausen. Hope you all enjoy it. It was a lot of fun to do.

Rico-

That podcast was awesome!  I grew up watching Ray HarryHausen movies.  I loved all of his creature movies: Twenty Million Miles to Earth and It Came From Beneath the  Sea.  His Sinbad movies were an inspiration in my teenage years.  But my all time favorite Harryhausen movie is Jason and the Argonauts. When I was a kid, the sword fight with skeletons and fight with the Hydra  were something that would be stuck in my head for many years to come.  Clash of The Titans was a great film with an all star cast.

One last thing, Herbert Lom in Mysterious Island was an okay Captain Nemo.  Everyone knows there is only one Captain Nemo.  James Mason is the man!

Rico

Thanks for the comments.  Yeah - the Disney Captain Nemo (James Mason) was tops!

Jason and the Argonauts, I loved that movie. Clash of The Titans, it had brief nudity..  :ohbaby

I loved Harryhausen's stop-motion adventure/monster flicks as a kid.  Looking forward to checking out the 'cast.

It was only while listening that I realised just how many of these I recognised from growing up. I must have seen them quite a few times too, given how clearly I remeber some of the scenes. There was always at least one re-run of something over any given holiday season.

I never realised Tom Baker had made one though, it must have been just before his run as The Doctor.

Oh, you're right Rico - I was almost shouting at my player as you fumbled over Honor Blackman's casting in Bond/The Avengers.

Good recovery though :)

Now I'm off to contemplate a week without a new episode...

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I had fond memories as you talked about seeing the Sinbad movies in the Theater.  I too remember those, man, they were so cool!   I really learned a lot of stuff Rico.  THANKS!  I like it when you mix it up from time to time.  I really had no idea the genius behind these films.  I just took them for granted.  But I remember being awed by them as a kid.  I  need to watch them again.  I don't see them on TV much.  Any good place to get them?

I have been and always will be, your friend.

Great show. I haven't seen many of these movies aside from Jason and the Argonauts which I enjoyed. One thing I can say is I LOVE old movie previews. So much wordier then today's where we're lucky if there's any dialog or narration at all sometimes!

To buy the DVD's Amazon is a good source - of course.  They do play them on TNT from time to time too.  Nothing like the classics!
