Okay I'm into month two of my friendly debate with a friend regarding the validity of science and creation. It has forced me to review now countless hours of science reviews and articles. This has led me to a heightened respect for any and all science.

As I've read these articles, I've had to read other articles and basically learn how to read and understand the scientific language. Even when written in english, it's not really english. I can see how it can be daunting for someone that just wants the facts in layman's terms to  just spell out the findings.

I've always wondered why they didn't just put it in layman's terms, but earlier today I was struck with the reason.

It's done so those that have the means to test the subject are provided with the information necessary to test the subject. It would be far easier for them to just spell out many of the things they write, but they WANT people to test to see if their theories are correct. It's like showing your work in elementary math class on a grander scale and I am in love.

There are so many things that we take for granted in everyday life and everything I read and watch just cements the importance of science and supporting it in all forms for future generations.

To those of the scientific mindset on the boards: Thank you. thank you for giving me such wondrous things like medicines and plastic. Thank you for lighting the torch that has carried us out of the dark ages. In recent times, the flames might have been sputtering, but that light still burns brightly. Thank you of the creation of acid free paper, mylar, tang, and latex. Thank you for finally decoding the genes of the platypus, human, and honey bee.

For all things I take for granted that science has given. Thank you.

But ....

Could you tell me why we don't coat engine pistons and valves with teflon to reduce friction and the need of lubrication by reducing the friction heat of the engine?

Could you also tell me why people still think that the land is responsible for most of the oxygen production when it's the sea?

thanks again.
