Has anyone played this demo yet?

I downloaded it today. It is a hefty download taking up about 5 gig of hard drive space. The game play is very cool and the environment detail is awesome. However it is nothing new, Any one who has played farcry will notice and recognise the game engine, I am playing this on an xp so I am not getting the dx 10 display, but from what I have heard this is not an improvement but tends to slow down gameplay.

However the story concept and introductory graphics and voice graphics are impressive.. I would be interested on your thoughts.

I wish I could download this game and just see it on my PC. But my PC doesn't have the power to properly run that game. I've heard that it looks amazing and will continue to look even better with next-generation Direct-X 10 graphics cards. I've seen the trailers and the game looks amazing.

Yea, other then the dated game engine I was really impressed with this one.

The PC Gamer podcast has talked about it a few times. 5 Gigs is a little too hefty for a demo—not sure my husband would want me to download that on his PC. :D

Maybe the size of the demo is also slowing down the game...
Another thing to check is the settings—the hosts of PC Gamer said, regarding the game play, is that we shouldn't  use the best graphic settings for new games. Those are settings were included  in anticipation of new advancements, like graphics cards, to keep the game playable and pretty, past the point at which it was originally designed for. They said that one of their hosts still insists on using the highest settings and it creeps along even with his top notch gaming system.
