I just saw that Torchwood is coming to the BBC America lineup.

I have a question:   Do shows shown on BBC America get edited for content to line up with standards and practices here in the States?

I ask because I have heard that Torchwood is a MUCH more adult show than Dr Who and it would be a shame to see a "tame" version of the show.  I am a fairly conservative guy but I really get torqued at the sometimes seemingly puritanical standards for TV.

Just wondering.....Oh and is the show worth watching regularly?

Yeah it was pretty good.. and yes they do cut down the shows that are shown in the US.. at least they do with Who on Sci fi.. I'm not sure about BBC America.

Also there is a thread for Torchwood here.. you can see what other's are saying about it.

I really enjoyed season one of Torchwood.  It's different than Doctor Who and kind of unique.  It's too bad that they cut the episodes here.  I used bitorrents to watch them.

Gosh, now I wonder if I even want to bother....maybe I'll give it a whirl for a few eps but if it seems too saccharine (based on what I have about the series thusfar) I may just say the heck with it.   But I will give it a chance.

I sure wouldn't call it saccharine at all.  Your best bet is to try a couple of episodes and see if it's for you.

I just watched the premiere of Torchwood on the BBC, I had it saved on my DVR.  I really enjoyed the show.  It's kinda of a cross between Dr. Who and the X-Files, with a darker side.  It's a spin-off of Dr. Who, featuring Captain Jack Harkness.

The show deals with a secret organization meant to deal with the alien problem on earth.  Most people are unaware there is a problem, and this group seeks to keep the secret.  At the same time they are trying to get alien technology.

The show is rated TV14 and is fairly graphic in parts, blood, etc...  Apparently they will be dealing with sexual issues including man & girl, man & man, girl & girl, man & alien, etc...  So you may want to pre-screen before letting kids watch.

Over-all, I really enjoyed this show and recommend anyone to give it a look.  It's on Saturdays at 9:00 on the BBC.

From here to the eyes and the ears of the 'Verse, that's my motto or might be if I start having a motto.

I saw it on BBCA (BBC America) I loved it, it is somewhat dark and well cool and Todd is correct next episode is about an alien that makes people have sex.

Yeah I've seen the entire series and it's pretty good and yes it not for kids.. Doctor Who is geared more towards kids... Torchwood is definitely gear towards adults. It had some really good episodes and some so so episodes like most series, but overall it's a fun series. I'm looking forward to season two.

Wait a minute, so I am watching Reruns!?!?!??! or is the second season starting off with that one police women?  So Kenny why is it geared more for adults? many shows have blood and shooting and stabbing, Stargate has that and I could probably name others...

No this series has already aired in England.. I managed to "get" them and already watched them.

I'm not sure if BBC America is going to censor them.. I'm sure they will, but when they aired in the UK there is very strong language and graphic sex scenes. Stuff you would never see on Doctor Who.

Darkmolerman

I do know that they are censoring the Bomb, the blood is regular and was the sex showing anything? if not then I am all clear to watch YAY!

The show is worth seeing even if they edit it. Can't say enough about how well they made it.

I watched the entire season in the early part of the this year as they were transmitted in Hi-Def (free on digital in the UK)

Couple of things.......really echoing what other have mentioned, firstly YES they are VERY adult orientated and IF they are edited for content
i think they will be very spoiled and disjointed, in the UK they were shown after the 9.00pm watershed. Secondly if you get the chance to watch them in Hi-def it really makes them stand out. They had fantastic viewing figures in the UK and the rumors i have heard from the second season sound great...........there are some fantastic tie In's from the last season of Dr who ........but i won't spoil it for you all......surfice to say........one of them is jaw dropping............ :dalek
