my start up files are damage or crupted.

 :(Hi all to the forum.  Yesterday when I turned on my laptop.  I got the message that my start-up files were damaged or curpted.   When  I saw that message, I was like WHAT!  I just had Windows re installed last year by a tech after I accidentally erased it.  how this happen I do not know.  my gf tyred to fix it for me but it did not do any good.  so e we are thinking about me getting a new one.  the one I have now is about  6 years old.  I due for a new one so make lemonade out of lemons.  we went on-line and found a couple of good deals.  but for now, I have to use my gf computer.
