i am a lover of movies, mostly sci fi, but i do like other stuff too. i have in the city i live in a place where i get dvd's dirt cheap($2.99), they are used but not abused. they have a deal you buy 5 you get 2 free, so you can guess i get 7 for the price of 5. i have been building my movie colllection.
i am rediscovering some moveis and discovering movies i have heard of but never got the chance to see, plus i get to see movies i would not normal have seen. movies likle that for me was ,  the RESIDENT EVIL, movies, which i first must admit i thought was just a gamer movie. i love the series. and another one was EQUILIBRIUM, i had seen thew movie, btu i thought it was a knock off of the MATRIX, but i am finding out a lot of the movies were made before or about the same time, but the Matrix just over cast them. i am also finding out because i do listen and watch the special features and the commentaries, alot about the behind the scenes stuff. also i  rediscovered FUTURAMA, because of the four feature length dvds. the commentaries are awesome.
i guess i am writing this to see if anyone else is like i am .

I have a decent collection of store bought and I do love to find some bargains. I also have many movies I put on DVD off of VHS tapes I had recorded. It is fun to find a movie that you never saw or saw it a long time ago and get to as you said rediscovering or discovering them.

I've been rediscovering quite a few favorites this past year while jogging away the miles on my treadmill.

One that stands out is Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts.
Mel's at his best craziness in this action mystery as he is pursued by Patrick Stewart.

I have been making a concerted effort to give my kids exposure to older movies.  I mean the kind with James Cagney, Pat O'brien, John Wayne, and Humphrey Bogart.  :)

'Captains Courageous' with Spencer Tracey and Freddie Bartholemew went over very well.

On Thursday I did take my Dad to see 'Cool Hand Luke' with Paul Newman. We saw it at a redone local theater tat will be playing movies from the 60's for the next 5 weeks. If your over 60 you get in free so I told Dad I will pay his way in. lol  I had never seen the movie before since it did come out the year before I was born. I guess you could say I discovered a movie this past week. It was pretty good. I was hoping for a good 60's sci-fi but they won't be doing one.
heres the list.
Cool Hand Luke
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Birds
Bullitt
Hud
I wanted to see Bullitt with Dad but he will be on vacation that week.

Today it was Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak today in 'Bell Book and Candle'

Fun comedy and Stewart always has such great throw-away lines:
"Hasn't this cat got anything better to do? Couldn't you give him something to read?"
