The first footage from former Doctor Who guru Russell T Davies' new kiddie series Wizards vs. Aliens has finally been released, showing off some pretty flashy spaceship and wizard-ing effects.

The footage comes via a roundup of clips from the BBC kiddie CBBC programming block, and is spliced in with some snippets from fellow upcoming series Wolfblood.

It looks top-notch, and we're definitely curious to see how Davies and a lot of the behind-the-scenes gang carried over from the late, great Sarah Jane Adventures can do with this unique premise.

The show seems squarely aimed at kids, but this is Davies we're talking about, so it should at least have some pretty compelling themes—kiddie series or not.

I thought Davies was in the US these days so I'm surprised he's still doing BBC stuff. Has he come back to Wales?

I can't say I've heard of this but then my kids tend to watch American cartoons these days, and don't see a lot of live action stuff.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

To any Brit out there.. has this aired yet over in the UK?

Feathers

Yes. I haven't really seen any substantial quantity of it but I've found the kids watching it a couple of times when I've come in after work in the last few weeks.

I think they were using a 'two episodes on two consecutive nights' approach rather like they did with Sarah Jane.
