Interesting article, does sound like it can push computing to new levels. Wish someone other then IBM was working on it though.

While IBM might be the only one working on it in the corporate world (though I doubt that's the case), I have a friend at MIT who is doing postdoctoral work in it and has been for the past 5-10 years. The funny thing is he can barely use a computer :)

That is sort of funny to be working computing, but not being computer savvy, but I guess it is really a different skillset at the end of the day. My only complaint about IBM, is that they are a business, and at the end of the day they want to make money. Something like this will not pay off for years, so the money has to be made up somewhere, and being an employee of said company, I can see where that is coming from(salary, bonus, training...). Hopefully the organizations more research focused are doing more work on this.

Yeah, he did his undergrad in honors chemistry then went on to do all of his grad work in the quantum computing field.
