So I'm going to start yet another podcast.. been wanting to do a podcast on Alien Nation.. was going to do one for Treksf but I love that series so much I want to do an entire podcast just on that series.. figured it as 1 movie, 22 episodes and 5 TV Movies along with novels and comic books and if I release one a month there's a good 2 1/2 years worth of content.
So I need suggestions for a title.
Of course there is Alien Nation Podcast or Alien Nation FanCast, but I was also thinking The Newcommers Podcast or Newcommer podcast. Any Alien Nation fans out there who have an idea for a good title?
Cool! I loved Alien Nation back in the day, had them all on VHS and watched them all the time.
Would this be in a similar style to the MASH one? Can't wait to hear it. :)
Hmmm title for the show....
A difficult one. If you exclude "Alien Nation" from the title people might not find it during search but personally I like "The Newcommer Cast"
yeah it will be very much like the MASH fancast.
Yeah I feel like I almost have to keep Alien Nation in the title just so folks can find it.
How about "The Alien Nation Newcomers Cast"?
I like Al's idea!
How about Alien Nation: The Newcomers Podcast
Excellent!
How about "Alien Nation: The Newcomers Podcast"
I like that. I have all of the made for TV movies and the movie itself. I love that show! I wish they would reboot that series.

I loved watching Alien Nation back in the day and it was one of my favorites. I hated it when they canceled the second season esp when they left off in a cliff hanger but it happens. I watched all of the episodes, the TV movies and the original feathered film too. I also read the TV tie in paperbacks published after the cancellation of the series. I have also mention the podcast on my twitter feed. I look forward the the future episodes.

Hi kenny, I download the podcast yeaterday but i have not had a chance to listen yet. maybe to day I will be able to listen. I loved reading the tv tie in novels, they were ecellent. I never read the comic books, I never knew they had any of that at all. when I listen I will post again on the fourm.
OK I just listen to the first episode of the alien nation podast. it was great! loved every minute of it. cant wait for the next one. I have subscribed to it on iTunes allready. I am now following the pocast on twitter as well and sent a tweet allready. listening to the pocast make me want to go back to 1990 or 89 again. I look forward to the next pocast, can't wait. one thing i do rembr from the series was the swear word mother hummer which was used to insult humans. just like the word frack from BSG. a play on real life words they used to get around the censors.
Great podcast kenny. Ilove this show and all of the tv movies just wish you would do the cast more often

Thanks JT.. yeah if we did them more then once a month we would got through the entire series within a year.
Maybe bi weekly. There is also the movie and all of the tv movies to consider. You could also think about two part eps. Sorry, I just know these shows so well and have never heard anyones take on it. Where Im from I dont get to talk about these this much. Mash, AN, Trek...etc . Would love to hear your thoughts more on it.

Yeah will see how these go. I would prefer to do bi weekly but besides recording them it takes time to edit them and with all my other podcasts and life in general it can be tough at times. But who know if the podcast really takes off we might do more of them more often.

Hi Kenny, just listend to ep2 the other night. great podcast. I do remember watching that one the first time. it was a good story I think. you and your brother brought out a lot of points in regard to the details of the story. one of the things that stand out the most for me is at the end when Shiktes burns the doctors research note because he didn't like it being use for future research. it kind of tied into the fact I was reading a book about the experiments that Nazi doctors were doing to persons in the concentration camps. can't wait until the next episode.

Hi Kenny, I listen to ep3 of the podcast last night at work. great podcast. I must say it was hard to remember if I watched that episode because it has been so long ago. but some of the memories came back. I definitely remember the movie Alien Heart. Gorge was all about how that was the greatest movie ever made. lol. Uncle Mordy always stood out to me as well. I never thought of him as a hippie but I suppose so. I do remember when he went into the water and it didn't scar him at all. well I look forward for the next one. oh I do love the new podcat logo as well. who thought that one up? thanks guys.
Thanks glad you're enjoying the podcasts.. we have a lot of fun doing them. It's great sitting down and watching the episodes before we do each podcast.

Hi guys, I just listen to Ep4 of AlienNation Cast. good job guys. I definitely remember Shikes seeing his daughter for the first time in the series, I think it was the only time we ever see her. I certainly remember her mom, she seem to be making hand over fist in money while Shikes was in the poor house. :(. The one thing I do remember is the RV that she and Thor bought. I believe I had seen one just like it for sale in a parking lot near a resturant I was eating at one day. it looked it had seen better days but it remind me of that ep of the show. The love motel on wheels . I wished I had one of those back then. 8). oh yes you meantion Lori Petty in the episode, I don't remember her being in it and I didn't recognized her. Why did she do that part if she was such a promint actress? OK I look forward the next Ep thanks guys.

HI Kenny, I just listen to ep 5 of AlienNationCast this sat at work. Great podcast as usual. I do remember seeing that ep when it was first aired. The thing that always stood out in my mind in that episode was how did that canister of the Holy Gas get in to a LADP evidence locker? Did the cops find it out at the crash site and pick it up then put it there or was it confiscated as a part of a bust from a newcomer. but i am thinking that canister should have been a government lab some where and not in the hands of the LAPD. I also thought the part were Capt. Glasser gets gassed and then gets a tattoo was very funny. I guess you could say they get back at him for being such a you know what.
Thanks.. glad you're enjoying it. Yeah we did wonder where the gas came from.. and I guess no Newcomer cops ever went into the evidence locker or they should have smelled it. Still a fun episode to watch.
I think the writers used the gas a a good plot device. I think one expnation might be it was something made in a lab by newcomers wanting to use it in the drug trade and it got confiscated by LADP. That is the holy gas they had was synthetic home made by someone who knew how. if the series could have countinued , maybe a episode that may have explained it origin. it also could have gotton mislabelled while in the evidence locker and forgotn about.

Hi Kenny, just listen to ep6 this weekend at work. great podcast. I do remember seeing this one when I was first aired. I don't know why it was called first cigar either, that one stumps me too. I thought Betsy Ross was just absolute ruthless in that episode. even though she was treatend by the Drug Lords, she must have been pretty stupid to kill them all like that because that could have inkinghed a turf war with gangs seeking control in a power vacuum. I think she hated humans too, I think most overseers in the series seem to. well I look forward the the next cast

Yep.. once we do the entire series, will do the TV movies, then novels and finally comic books
Hi Kenny, I just listend to ep7 last sunday night. great podcast, I remember that ep first being broadcast, I think it was intoned as a Halloween episode. afterall-it was aired the day before halloween. I didn't realize that Mich Peggi (ada Skinner from X-Files) played in the ep until you meation it. I thought the scene of the dubbed western movie in Tentoness was so neat, but what was up with old theater playing an old movie. I think at the time there was a tread of showing old moves in old movie theaters as a novelty. I loved how Skites slugs that oversear that he helped save, he was such a bigot himself that its so disgusting. This was a great episode from the series, very good drama and conflict between Skites and Fanscaco. it was shades of gray at a certain point within the story, epically when Gorge wanted to let Paul Revire go and not arrest him. Equally as good was when Matt didn't include that in his report.
well it seems I'm the first to post for this episode, you haven't posted you into yet but I am sure you have been busy with Comic-con, I followed you tweets on the con along with a few others I follow.
hi Kenny, I just listen to ep 8 of the AlienNationCast the other day. It seems like I am the only one posting on this fourm theses days, well that is fine with me, I can have all to myself then. lol! ;D . well I listen to this one on the podbean site. currently I have to use another computer other than my own so I am having to do things a little differently these days. One thing I did do this time is use the share button for my twitter account and my G+, I posted a ep of the cast on my G+ for the first time.
Anyway I enjoyed ep 8, I think it is one my faves also. I think that some of that ep was used in one of the TV ti in novels if I recall correctly. The thing that really stands out the most for me in this ep is when that overseer decides to send a message to the probe and suggest that the human race should be slaves as well. the gall of the newcomer makes my blood boil >:(!

Yeah this plot ties in with the very first Alien Nation TV movie Dark Horizon.
Well if these overseers are working in slavery it doesn't surprise me they would make the human race slaves as well.
Hey your welcome on the conturned comments, I think I my emailed notification got turned off so I didn't know about reply until latter. I will try to fix that probelem and I look forward to the next podcast.
Hi Kenny, I just listen to the latest podcast of aliennationcast ep ten i think. that was a good ep of the series it think. about your format, I think it is all right. commenting while you watch the ep. the only problem I experienced was the volume too low, couldn't hear the ep play on the TV. your voice and your brothers were fine. but I really perfer the original format you were doing at the start of the podcast.
HI Kenny, I just listend to ep 11 last night. It was a great episode, I still remember seeing it the first time. the whole thing between Matt and marive gardens was just hallioues. the line "I usually do go for men, but I find you compelling." was laugh out loud funny. yes I think it predates on line dating by a few years, the internet as we know it was not quite there at the time the ep was made.

Hi guys, I listen to podcast 12 the other night. great podcast but I notice that it was short. the part I like about the ep was the psych test they had to take. the thing that stands out the most is a scene which show Capt. Glasser Naked behind a badge. I think this was giving some inside of this cahariter. he was thought of a as rotton boss, that was impression I always got form watching the show.
HI guys, I just listened to the podcast last night on the mp3 player of my upgraded cell phone. it was great to hear the podcast again after a long absence. I remember watching this episode when it first aired. I thought it was neat that the newcomers where allready fighting for the right to vote when they have only been on the planet for a short while. very intresting plot device I thought. However I do remember reading about some of the views of the purest in the tie in novels. such as the religious views of the purest.
Hi Kenny and Mike, I think I am still the only one posting here. Just listen to the lastest ep just last night. great podcast. I hated that the Uncle was killed. I thought effects secan where they saw Tackton was just assume, I think that Matt was just freaked out about it. while gorge was beside himself.

LOL.. yes I think you're the only one who listens to the podcast on these forums. I'm glad you are enjoying them. My brother and I have a ton of fun recording them even if we only have a few listeners :)
I was disappointed when Alien Nation ended. It was the best show on TV at the time and I think Gary Graham's best role.
Your podcasts are great, just started listening today!

I've been listening too. It's a gem of a show that I think is underrated. Miss it. Wish it was on blu ray b/c I'd buy it. I remember my mother liked this show and she generally had no interest in SF when I was growing up.

Awesome.. yeah it is defiantly underrated. They have been trying to revive the series for several years now. I hope it happens one of these days. Thanks for listening.
Hi Kenny, I just listen to ep 15 the other night. great podcast. it was a good ep of the series too. I distinctly remember the scene about where Virgina ham said she would be set for life. today it would be form China and not Japan I would think. the whole video conference thing was spot on but it occurs Thur the internet of course. I don't think we have the picture phone in the way the phone company envisioned it so far. there was a recent article on wired.com on the first picture phone call ever made.

That's fantastic.. thank you very much. I agree.. I think Alien Nation is ready for a remake. The last rumors I heard were in 2009 that Syfy was thinking of remaking it.. but I haven't heard anything sense. Maybe one day. Thanks again for the shout out.. we really appreciate it.
Hi Kenny, I just listen to the podcast ep on Partners just the other night. great podcast. I still remember seeing this ep for the first time. yes the whole birth process between newcomers was very unique for its time I think. I remember a scene in which Gorge was sitting in holding cell and some idiot try to pick a fight with him and he says he is pregnant and then winds up kicking the guys butt. lol. I thought that scene was kinda funny. Also as meantion in the podcast. the jack was found in Gorges home and in a picture frame, well that's kind of neat that it was in a picture frame. which meant he was framed.
Thanks again for your comments.. Yeah I liked the jail scene.. don't mess with a pregnant male Tenctonese :) Never though about the whole picture frame and him being framed.
Hi Kenny, I just listend to ep 17 the other day. that was great ep of the series. I am thinking that after that birth scene TV would never be the same. I think I can still recall it was in there TV ads about the pregnancy as being a must watch. it is now counting down to the finial ep of the series, we will see Kathy and Matt get together and the purist try to kill the Fansiclo family. I hope that you will contune the podcast into the TV tie in books which I read after the series was canceled. Those 8 or 9 books were abouly great, better than the series maybe. the TV movie of the week they made were also just as assume as well. I hope you can discusses that was well.
Thanks for your continued comments and support, and yes we will be reviewing all the episodes then move on the 5 TV movies and then onto the comics and books. So we have plenty left to review.

Kenny, I am probably the worst fan ever. I love your podcasts, particularly this one, but I am terrible about sending you guys feedback. Unfortunately, the fact that I am commenting along with you as I listen to them doesn't count. :)
So I will just say right now that I think the shows you do are very entertaining, informative, and fun. The shows you review are all ones that I love, and I enjoy taking the trip down memory lane as you review these old favorites. It makes me feel good that I am not the only one who has all these shows on DVD sets. LOL
Keep up the great work and I'll keep listening!

Thanks Rick.. I appreciate it. Yeah Alien Nation is such a niche that we only have a few hundred listeners but my brother and I love Alien Nation and doing the podcast so even if we only had 1 listener it would be worth it. Thanks for your continued support of all my podcasts.
Hi, Kenny, I just listened to Dr. Death last night. great podcast. I never got to see this ep when it first aired. I saw it latter on the Sci-fi channel. I missed this ep back in the day for some reason or another. Tobin Bell was good in it I thought and yes the reporter was a real scum bag.
Are you guys going to do the tv movies? Love the podcast btw

Yep.. gonna do a Listener comment podcast at the end of season one and then move to the 5 TV movies and then move on to the novels and comic books.
Thanks for listening.
Finally got to listen to ep 19 of the podcast. great podcast, it was a powerful ep. I always thought the satmemet that Peter rabbit said about a carpentends son chanageing the world was a powerful secan. I think the end had Sikes checking back into his religious roots.
Hi Kenny I just listen to ep 20 today. great ep of the show and the podcast. I had always thought the thing of the human woman being married to the E. Pole chacther was intresting. I do look forward to the movie reviews latter on. I hope you can also do podcast on the novelizations, I really loved those back in the day.

great to hear!
I just listend to ep 21 and 22. I finished listening to 22 today. great podcast. I was left on the edge of my seat when the ep of the show ended in a cliff hanger. I was looking forward to season 2 of the show but then heard by my younger brother that it was canceled. I latter got into reading the books that were the tie ins to the series. then the movies were great too.
I listened to ep 21 the tough a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know that Johnan Branis was the child in the show. I only remember him from Seaquest DSV. but that was a good podcast too. can't wait for Decembers fancast, I will be watching and downlowding it when abaible.
It is great to have the Alien Nation podcast back.
