Well if you follow Felicia Day on twitter then you know she's been talking about this "mystery project" well it was revealed today..
Felicia Day breathes fire into 'Dragon Age' series
By Mike Snider, USA TODAY
Most fans of role-playing games can only imagine themselves in their favorite alternate universe. Felicia Day actually gets to become part of the lore.
Already well-known to video-game fans as the creator of Web comedy series The Guild about online game players, the actress has written and stars in a new Web series, Dragon Age: Redemption, based in the world of BioWare's role-playing Dragon Age game franchise.
Day's six-episode run, due to hit the Web this year, is set in Ferelden, the same fantasy land in which 2009's Dragon Age: Origins and the upcoming sequel Dragon Age II play out. In the Tolkienesque sword-and-sorcery adventure game, several races join forces to combat a scourge called the Darkspawn (think of them as cousins to the orcs in The Lord of the Rings).
A peek at the Dragon Age II narrative shows Day wrote an original story line around a character for herself, Tallis, an Elven assassin.
"Tallis is headstrong, she fights dirty, and she has a really sarcastic sense of humor," she says. "I wanted to bring a modern sensibility to a fantasy character in a fantasy world."
Tallis goes on a quest to capture a renegade magician. Along the way, she gathers her own fellowship. "She can't accomplish her mission alone, so finding allies is tricky," Day says. "The success or failure of the mission will have a big impact on her future and her freedom."
A life-long game player, Day is fully aware they have a poor track record when it comes to adaptation. "I am an organic gamer and I love games, and I particularly love this franchise," she says. "I put every single effort into making this something that gamers will be proud of. Even though we were constrained a lot as a Web series, none of the people who were involved took that as a constraint. They took that as a challenge."
That dedication is what convinced the developers at Dragon Age studio BioWare that Day was the right person for the project.
"We are really, really excited to work with people like her who have a passion and appreciation for the content and a really good history of quality," says BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk. "That's who we want to work with."
Filming took place over a dozen days last month in the L.A. area, with Independence Day associate producer Peter Winther as director and John Bartley (Lost) as cinematographer. "They are going to take this a step above what we have seen on the Web before," says Day, who also co-produced Redemption.
With the series in post-production, Day turns her attention to The Guild, recently approved for Season 5 on Microsoft's Xbox Live. "I definitely have a story line in mind," she says. Day also appears in upcoming episodes of Syfy Channel series Eureka, which continues its fourth season this summer.
A fringe benefit of her Redemption performance? Day got to spend a few hours exploring Dragon Age II, which doesn't arrive in stores until March 8 (for PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows and Mac, rated for ages 17-up). A demo launches online next week.
"Just being able to make a Web series that is tied with such a huge property ... really the premier role-playing game out there, this is a dream project come true," Day says.
OMG, so hot. What a great pic, can't wait for this series.
You guys this series is going to be EPIC.. I got to spend a day on set and it was AWESOME!!!

Hello...I thought I'd jump in here.
I'm pretty excited about this! The Guild is a great show - so we know Felicia Day brings a nice high level of quality.
I am not sure if I can stay up and watch the trailer tomorrow night on Jimmy Fallon, I'll probably wait until the next morning. But I'm really looking forward to it! Even if we are only talking about a few episodes. I hope it is well received.

Looking forward to this. I love how she has reinvented herself, and just side stepped traditional media.
Not a huge fantasy fan but looking forwad to this one. I like Felcia's work a lot.

Hmmm I did not know that about you.. most folks who love sci fi love fantasy.. they kind of go hand in hand.. are you not a fan of Lord of the Rings?
Never been hugely into Fantasy shows for some reason, don't know why, might be because I like the science and tech of sci-fi too much and I find the enormousness of Fantasy worlds hard to digest.
I should really watch the LOTR movies shouldn't I?
Felicia Day was on Jimmy Fallon and they premiered the trailer for Dragon Age: Redemption.. couldn't embed the video here but you can go to my blog and watch it.

Small world, Kenny. I was just talking about this show with a dude named Ed on another forum; turns out he knows you! Had nothing but good stuff to say; what a cool guy you were and how much he dug his interview on your podcast. Something about falling out of an elephant?
Anyway, Dragon Age looks pretty cool. I gotta check it out! :)

No I think it was just the one, there's been lots of internal issues with this webseries.
Here's the first episode..

Another cool episode! Enjoying seeing Felicia in this type of role.
Good fun, nice production quality. Having a bit of a time seeing any sense of hard ass from Felicia Day, she's a little too cutsie. The rest of the cast is very good, I like the actor playing the Templar Knight.

Agree Bryan, I don't feel like Felicia Day was well cast for this role, she's not giving me that feeling either. She's a good actor, but she can really only play the role that she plays in the Guild and Eureka well, anything else just doesn't work as well.
That said, good web series and everyone besides Felicia seems to fit their role well. I like the Knight they put in too.

Well Felicia wrote this entire series and created this character for herself. So she did not get "cast" in this role. And Tim I love how you say that's she's a "good" actor but only in her roles of The Guild and Eureka... talk about typecasting. She's done a lot of other works that are very different then her "geeky" girl type.
I know these are just your opinions but I know how hard she worked on this series and I'm defending my friend :)

Hmm, how to explain better......honestly, I can't really explain my thoughts other than her personality doesn't mesh entirely into the roll. She's still acting well, don't get me wrong.
And I'm probably making it sound like its a mountain when really its a molehill to me. If she was really that bad I wouldn't watch the 2nd episode.
You mention she's done other works that are different from her geeky-girl-type, I just haven't seen them myself. After I saw her in the Guild, it was just Eureka, Buffy and...something else that I can't remember.

I think she's incredible, I love this series and I can't remember seeing her in anything that didn't blow me away with how perfect a woman she is. It's a shame the game (Dragon Age 2) wasn't more popular or good and garnering more attention for this series.
Ok fourth attempt to write this post without sounding weird (I'm really tired).
I love Felicia in this role, despite all her other work I really do feel like this is a departure from what we're used to with her. Yes she kicked some butt in Dollhouse but this very confident, flirty, sexy and strong type of character is really quite different (at least in my opinion).
I also think that because of all the exposure she has within our circles (in no small part thanks to Kenny), we have developed a sense of familiarity with her. Because of this familiarity, a bit of cognitive dissonance takes place when we see her in a role we feel is a bit 'out of character'. I think this is a non-issue for people who don't follow her career quite as closely as a lot of us do and those who do have issues will likely get used to it.
Maybe this sounds strange, but whenever Felicia succeeds at yet another thing, I kind of feel like she takes us with her. It's not just a win for her, but for all of us crazy internet people too.
I think any actor has a certain "range" that they can play. I'm perfectly fine with Felicia here and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. You also have to keep in mind the conditions, budget, etc. for this web series vs. other projects. If you want to see other things Felicia has worked on, check Netflix and Amazon. She's done more than you might be aware of - including even a western! :)
Yeah, I think she is terrific but her performance in this doesn't resonate with me as having the kind of gravitas that I feel the character would have in more threatening situations. She does light hearted and charming like nobody's business. Not a knock on her at all, it's just when she is straddling a guy holding blades to his throat she even looks a bit uncomfortable. Like she's attacking Vork or something.. :)
I'm rather enjoying this series and i have to say i find Felicia's performance in this excellent. There is a subtle darkness to the character and its acted more in her facial expression. Gone is the smile and slight blankness that she offers as Codex, the role is ideal. I have no idea where you guys are coming from, the scene when she holds the blade to the guys throat is played with a great tone. It's quick, it's in there and flows perfectly.
Ep 3 was just as fun as the rest, I like where this is going. Again all the actors did great. My only minor quibble was that I got taken out of one scene a bit when a what I guess is a street light got into the shot.

Okay, after finally having watched, I think I see where some people are coming from. I enjoyed her performance and I've seen her in other non-geeky roles, but I think that there is an edge to these types of characters that she seems to be missing when it comes to the voice. Even when dispatching people, there is a politeness in her tone that would work better for me if it had more of an edge to it.
now, I'm not saying that the role was poorly cast or that she didn't do well, but I think that I had to make a bit more of an effort to suspend disbelief than I normally would. I think that some people just have a way to deliver that edge that others don't have and this is one of those cases. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's typecasting, but more of a role that might be sightly out of the normal range and because of that, there are elements in the performance that doesn't convey the badassery that I believe was intended.
Fun conclusion and I enjoyed this series quite a bit. I think Felicia did just fine.

Felicia Day plays the DLC for Dragon Age 2 that features her character. She has fun with it.
