Title: Hello from Laconia NH
Post by: Zarabeth32 on January 22, 2011, 02:32:53 PM
Hello Everyone!

I just joined the Treks in Sci-fi forum today. I've been listening to the podcast for a couple of years now and thought I would join. I only get online about once a week.

Zarabeth is one of my favorite characters but only because of Spock  :vulcan of course. I love the two books that were written about their encounter afterwards. That episode along with "This Side of Paradise" have always been my favorites due to Spock falling in love and letting down his guard. But Zarabeth I can definitely connect with more on a personal level.

I love Star Trek. My dad and I used to watch it when I was a kid. He always says that I've taken it to the next level but I know that I'm not alone.  ;) I love the movies. Definitely thought the last one was very awesome. Can't wait for the next one to come out. Zachary makes a great Spock! Love him as Sylar on Heroes as well.

I watched Donnie Darko after listening the podcast that Rico aired. Very cool movie. Loved the music. Saw the sequel but thought that Donnie Darko was much better.

I love listening to the episodes where Rico talks about the different Trek episodes. Definitely looking forward to a Fistful of Datas. My favorite scene is where Data is just about to kiss Worf at the end.  ;D

Other things I love to watch are: Monk, Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, House and many other shows. Loved the classic Dr. Who with Tom Baker. Used to watch that one with my Dad too.

Love listening to Rick Moyer's parodies. They always make me laugh! He's got a great podcast voice as well.

After listening for a few years, I feel like I 've gotten to know people pretty well.

Look forward to hearing more!

Thank you Rico for creating a wonderful podcast to listen to.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I wanted to add something about myself other than that I'm a huge sci-fi fan. I am a special education teacher in NH. This is my first year teaching. It's quite a process. I have about 20 students in elementary school that I work with and it has been challenging though rewarding. Everyone I work with has been very supportive. Every morning I listen to Treks in Sci-Fi so I feel that I've gotten to know you Rico, along with Rick Moyers and and Rick Peete and others. I'm usually smiling or laughing when I listen to the stories and I also feel a part of it too in some way just because of my love for sci-fi that I get to share with others.

I only get a chance to get online once a week.

Thank you so much again for accepting me.

Looking forward to hearing more podcasts!

That is so awesome Tyna!  I have worked with adults and children with intellectual disabilities for the last twenty years now.  My first job in the field (jeez way back in 1991 now holy crap I'm old) was in a classroom setting as part of a vocational program in Florida for intellectually disabled adults with behavioral challenges.  Feel free to get in touch any time you might need some support or an empathetic ear, at the very least I know and understand first hand the kind of challenges you face daily as well as those of your students!
