Title: New to the Neighborhood
Post by: ElfManDan on February 23, 2008, 10:48:15 PM
My name is Sheppard, I am a long time listener of Treks in Scifi Podcast. I am a fan of almost all Scifi. I love Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Heroes, Doctor Who, Farscape, if it's scifi I probably love it or would love it. If your intrested my favorite show is Firefly. This all may seem normal among the people of the scifi realm, but in my small town, in my small High School I really am a bit of an outcast. I know there are others in my school who like scifi, but none of them are as open about it as me. I have stated that I think I was born in the wrong generation really. I suppose here on the forums that is, things will be a bit different.
Well, that's a little you know about me.

Big welcome Sheppard (cool handle by the way - I love SG: Atlantis too).  I know how you feel about being a bit of an outcast.  I had the same feelings growing up at times.  But you are among friends here.  Glad to have you with us.

Welcome Sheppard, you'll have a good old laugh here. Doctor Who, ah a wise choice in entertainment. Are you a classic, new or both series fan? I'm a fan of both but i hang towards the Peter Davison era, i'm 34 so he and Tom Baker were my starter Doctors. Have fun and get posting.

I'm into both, I started watching the new Doctor Who when it aired on Scifi between Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis. I had never seen it before and I loved it. I haven't seen to many of the classic, but I watched the five doctors, which was great. And the beginning collection with William Hartnell, it's not something for this age, but I loved the stories and characters, even if the Doctor was a grumpy old man.
I also got a friend into Doctor Who as well, so I got some one to talk to about the show (and Torchwood).

Still in two minds about Torchwood. the second season (series) is a lot better than the first. And last weeks episode with Martha Jones was pretty good (NO SPOILERS) but if you are a classic WHO fan or know anything about it you will be so happy who Martha works for, The Five Doctors is a brilliant episode and it is coming out on a special edition DVD in March (03/03/08 in the UK, not sure about region 1 release date) and that is so exciting. For me i really like the new series (Kenny you already know my views on Rose ha ha) as it always good to have Who back on the screens but for my classic Who is always so exciting. Especially episodes from the early years, Hartnell although a grumpy old man to start with mellows when he travels with his new companions and there is a sense of mystery when you see the black and white episodes (mainly because you can't see the glue on the monsters ha ha), a bit like the first Twilight Zones, or Outer Limits.
