BBC & iTunes Forge Deal

The BBC and iTunes have joined together in a deal that will bring about 10 U.K. shows to the continuous growth of the premiere Apple download service.

Some of the series programming to become available on iTunes will be the very popular "Life on Mars," "Robin Hood," "Little Britain" and "The Catherine Tate Show" (Tate stars as the latest Doctor Who companion).

Most of these offerings will be available at about $4.00 (USD) or £1.89 an episode for those residing in England.

The shows will be viewable on either PC or Mac, video iPods, iPhone and Apple TV.

Other shows like "Ashes to Ashes" and "The Mighty Boosh" will soon be ready from the Apple service.

Simon Danker, director of digital media at BBC Worldwide, said, "We want to give audiences a wide variety of options on how and where to view their favorite BBC shows."

Eddie Cue, Apple's VP of iTunes, seconded Danker by saying, "Television programming has been incredibly popular with iTunes customers in the U.K...and, we're thrilled to add hit programming from the BBC with favorites including the latest ratings winner 'Ashes to Ashes.' "
