Title: I need help with my SDCC costume
Post by: Geekyfanboy on May 16, 2007, 02:46:01 PM
Well I plan on dressing up this year for the San Diego Comic Con. In the past I have wanted to go as a Hobbit. Loved LOTR and I'm a short guy so it fits, but it was hard to find the clothes and ears and the feet and I gave up. This year I really want to dress up and I'm determined to find all the elements. This is where you guys can help. I did manage to find ears on Ebay.  Does anyone know of a place where I can find Hobbit feet? Or Hobbit clothes?  I'm sure I can look around and find the same type of clothes but I was hoping to find a costumer or someone who might be able to make the entire outfit for me. Any help would be appreciated. If all else fail I have my Hogwarts outfit to fall back on but man is that going to be hot. Thanks.

Kenny, here is a link for Hobbit feet.  They are $18 plus shipping.  Good luck with the rest.

Kenny,

You live in the L.A. don't you? Are there not several costume shops you could rent this stuff from, for the weekend, and save yourself a lot of trouble?

Hi Kenny,
I've been working hard on a making a Renfest costume for the Texas Renfest in October. We're going on the Fantacy weekend this yearâ€"I plan to go as a wood elf. Here are some links I found for my costuming that might help you.

Here's a page that I've used as a resource:
http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/

I think you'll need to look for Colonial era clothing (Breeches, Waistcoats, Suspenders etc.)
This site is excellent for finding waistcoats, breeches, suspenders and shirts, if you can afford their prices:

This is where I'm buying ears...they look more realistic (small is what I'm buying for elf/Vulcan ears). They also have all the stuff to stick the ears on and take them off again:

Inexpensive hobbit shirts:

Cloaks:

sort of pricey but here's an authentic hobbit cloak:

Cloak pattern if you have time to make one:

Hope this helps...good luck! Post your pics! I'd love to see what you came up with.

Hey Jen.. yes thanks for all the Links.. With my work and crazy life at the moment I wasn't really able to get the stuff together in time.. I still plan on buying Hobbit stuff and I'll dress up for that at next years comic con.. this year since I have everything already I'm going to dress up as Harry Potter.

Mr. Potter...A perfect choice since the movie's coming out this weekend. Angela and Jim want us to see it with them opening night...We're going to try to get tickets to see it at Midnight.
