"I aim to misbehave - at Austin Comic Con!"
Going to be hard to top last year, but we are sure going to try! :metallica:
Wish I could join you guys.

Wish I could join you guys.
Come on down Pete! I have a room booked!
I spent a lot of years saying I'll go next time, etc. I'm done with that. But my boys are grown and it's just a quick plane ride away. Sometimes you just have to go for it! I did a lot of that kind of thing during college and I'm trying to get back to it.
Seize the day!
You are right about that. In about 6 more years we'll be empty nesters. I would love to hit these conventions, but between kids activities and work....
Oh you look the business Rico :)
Got my new boots!
Love them!
So, Austin Comic Con....
Yep.
I'm not ready yet. :D
Me too! I ordered a couple last minute costume things today. :)
Looks like I bought the same ones as you did for my Han Solo getup, just in black.

I have the black ones too for my TOS outfit. They are not the most comfortable, so wear some good heavy socks or get some type of pads for the bottom.
Han Solo is 'gelling' it? ;)
Ahh, good times last year. Just a few days away now...
I am anxious to hear and see the updates.
More highlights from last year...

Looks like a load of fun.
I'm getting ready to misbehave!

So you're taking a gun like object on a plane... Hmmm. Good luck with that!
Looking forward to seeing this years video coverage.

Way ahead of you. I already shipped my "prop gun" to Jen and she will bring it with her to the con. Keep in mind, this con is in Texas.
Yes, I didn't think Texas would have gun issues :D
Now you mention it, I remember you saying something about shipping props in one of the podcasts. I'm glad it's worked out OK.
I hope you have a great time!
Sounds like this isn't Rico's first rodeo..
When are you catching your flight?
Tomorrow morning. I get there about noonish.
Packing up... :biggrin
Had a real nice time at the first day in Austin at the con. Awesome seeing Jen, Angela & Jim, Kasey and meeting Noah today. Didn't take a lot of pics this first day, but here's one of Jen and me. More to come in new costumes tomorrow!
Rico, crossing a couple of universes there with that side arm. :) As long as Jen doesn't have a light saber. :)
Not crossing universes. Do you know the western themed TOS episode "Spectre of the Gun?"
True that! Wyatt Earp and crew!
Video from Day 2 that we did right on the con floor. So pro this year!

As is expected, looks like you guys are having too much fun. :)
You have no idea. Been a blast again so far. So great to really get to hang out with everyone again and talk, cosplay, and just have a ball. We've gotten some great pics and video and more to come today. Here's one of Captain Rico and Commander Sevryll from yesterday.
Again, it was over too fast - but what a great time! Got a ton of great pictures. Can't wait to share them. Here are a couple.
That went really fast.

That went really fast.
Three days of concentrated fun! I wish I could bottle it! :)
The real deal.
Jen and I went to hear her talk too and she was great. Summer liked my costume too which explains my somewhat deer in the headlights expression. :biggrin
Couple more pics...
Angela just put this up. We recorded some video late on the last day at the con. We are a little loopy and tired, but I love the spontaneity of it all. Enjoy!

Ok - one more for now. Love this one too! :biggrin
There can only be three... ;)
Tracking it all through FB 'as it happened' was quite enjoyable. Not half as much as being there of course but as I wasn't working for any of those days it allowed me to keep an eye on you all :)
We tried to make a point to post updates as often as we could this year. It's hard to sometimes do that and catch everything. Right now I'm editing up a little trailer. Fun stuff and still riding my con high! :biggrin
You guys need interns to handle the updates. :)
Trailer for my upcoming Vidcast!
P.S. Longest trailer ever - but I love it!

Loved seeing all the photos and mini videos. Great stuff. Wish I could have been there to jump in on the fun.
It was so much fun again! If the video and pics look fun, imagine what being there was like. :)
P.S. I hope to see more of you there next time!
A few more pics...
The chances of me turning up are slightly slim i'm afraid but never say never. ;)
Looking forward to the full length video after watching the small one. I can't imagine how you stayed awake for it all :)

By only getting about 4 hrs. of sleep each night! :)
Great Pic of you and Summer Rico, a definite keeper. Your Firefly costume looks great as well.

Thanks for the preview.
So much more to share. Tons of pictures you haven't seen yet. :)
Here are a few more photos. :)
OH YEAH! :)
Couple more pics for you. Vampire lady scared me a little. She was very into her character.
More con geeky goodness!
One more for tonight I think...
Couple more pics...
Doing some prep music video's for tomorrow's big vidcast.
I re watched some of the Anomaly report from last years con where they were describing meeting you for the first time and just picking up the conversation from the forum and carrying on in person. Sounds like coolness. This year looks to have been much the same.
Yeah, even more so this year. Very cool and very fun seeing everyone again. The year flew by!
Believe it or not, I'm somewhat shy in person...though I've become rather good at faking the social butterfly thing. It helps when you're friends with a ton of extroverts :D . But I never feel completely comfortable with people I don't know, until I've been around them a few days. That said, it felt like Rico and I had been hanging out for decades. And we have, if you think about it—I was one of the first forum members here and we've been online friends for at least eight or nine years.
This year we all picked up where we left off, just visiting and hanging out like it's something we do every weekend. It was so much fun and I hope that more of you are able to come down in the future. But if you can't, Angela and I have talked about traveling to Dragon Con or Chicago Comic Con in the future... "future" being the operative word here. Hard to get out to these things when you have small children.
I wish David could have come along this year—I think you guys would hit it off, Rico. I like your idea of traveling to Texas a few times when it's not just a convention weekend. And the Star Wars, Episode 7 watching party sounds like a real kick. :D We would love that. I wish all of you could come down.
I would love to (although I mentally stall at the thought of cosplay) but I suspect a new income would be required to cover the international flights :(
It's not quite 'popping down' for a visit from here.
Feathers did your Philadelphia trip fall through? We might be able to convince Rico to come with a business trip to his office here if you make it over. Jobydrone is local as well. :)
Yeah, that fell apart pretty rapidly after I mentioned it here. I guess there's still a chance since we're still working with the same company a lot (they're all over here this week) but that's been true for most of the last 8 years so I'm not holding my breath.

It was really nice being down in Texas once again and visiting with you Jen and everyone else. I think we are very much alike the more I get to know you. I was really shy in school until about senior year in high school and started to be more out going but even now it's something I have to work at a little bit at times (but podcasting has certainly helped as well as the work I do for a living). But, one thing about being at a con and especially in costume is it allows you to sort of be another person - sort of your alter ego in a way. And that is a lot of fun!
I'm definitely trying to figure out a way to come down for some long weekend at some point in time in the near future and just hang out with all of you. I'd love to meet David and Aaron too - and see the others as well. Con weekend's just go by too fast. But, it was a very good time again and I'm very glad I made the return trip down this year too.
Couple pics for you. One of my tired Anomaly friends near the end of con and the other to thank Jen & Angela for helping ship my trusty shooting iron back up to me. :)
Depending on the time of year I could probably make it down from Denton easy enough. The Austin Comic Con comes at a bad time for me. I could probably get down Jen's way anytime from January to July. So, if you are heading down for a long weekend Rico let me know and I'll see if I can get some extra time off. I'd love to meet Jen, Angela and the guys as well.

Hmm, International Meet-Up in the offing? I recall in another podcast I used to listen to - Galacticwatercooler - they started having annual meetups. People would fly in (to texas) from all over for these meetups. They looked like a lot of fun.
New music video I just finished up featuring a montage of stuff from Austin Comic Con 2014. Enjoy! :biggrin

LOL! Funny thing is I didn't use the usual Star Wars music in any of the videos.
"When you're a Jedi, you're a Jedi all the way, from your first cigarette to your last dyin' day!"
Brand new music video compilation of a few con visits. Not just Austin in this one.
Enjoy!

No biggie. I'm exploring and going to try to do more on YouTube too. As long as they leave my videos up - of course. :)
Hah - do we have a copyright lawyer on the boards here> :)
Jen got the Anomaly vidcast done. Go to this link to check it out!

What is that official beer of Austin Comic Con that Kasey is quaffing?
Might be a Shiner Bock - not sure.
Yes, Shiner Bock. :)
