Title: The Star Wars Stacks
Post by: Jen on March 23, 2014, 08:53:51 PM
Hi everyone! Chris, Joe and I were inspired to start a Star Wars EU podcast after guest hosting episode 474 on Treks In Sci-Fi, where we reviewed the novel: Kenobi. We have released two episodes now. The first was an intro to the show and we just released our second episode tonight in which we review "Millennium Falcon" by James Luceno. This is a monthly podcast, to allow listeners a chance to read the books in time for our next episode.

Next month we'll be covering "Heir to the Empire" by Timothy Zahn.

We're working on a web site, but for now you can follow us on

I had so much fun! Huge shout outs to Rick Moyer for the music, it's so much better then I imagined it could be. Equal shout outs to Chris for the heroic editing efforts to make us sound like we know what we're talking about.

Coincidentally I got a Lego Millennium Falcon which I built. I will say I did it in honour of the book :)

Nice! Is that Han in the cockpit? Where's Chewy? You should have him on top working on the deflector dish. That's what it's called in Star Wars, right?

Chewie is playing Dejarik in the lounge with Leia. If I had a Lando minifig I could always just take the dish off and make a "post Battle of Endor" Falcon :)

Yup, site in progress! For now we've got a Facebook page which is much more active then I thought it'd be.

As for the Falcon, I had a lot of fun building it. Biggest Lego set I've put together in probably 20 years.

We have put out our next episode, covering Heir to the Empire. We will also be having a short discussion on the nuclear fallout of the EU destruction coming very soon!

I think your timing is great, you guys will be at the forefront of the new in universe books we are about to get flooded with! And you can use the EU as filler, it would have been tedious reading all those books again, admit it. ;)

Yes, it's going to great with the new books being canonical. And yeah, I do shudder a bit thinking of all of the books in the myriad series I have no desire to re-read. But there's enough great books to keep us going for some time.

Looking forward to the Thrawn trilogy you guys are covering. Really enjoyed that set of books, and like a lot of folks, what really got me into the EU, and happy I jumped in rather early after they got released. Even with the changes in the EU, I still hope you guys cover some of the previous books, as they still are great or interesting stories. I hoping at some point you guys might cover off the Original Han Solo Adventures by Brian Daley. That one is sitting on my bookshelf to reread and follow along with you guys.

Looking forward to the new set of books, but with a bit of caution, as it feels like it might be a bit of a changing of the guard, so the Universe might feel a bit different. I really enjoyed the Clone Wars series, but at times, some of the stories and how they were presented came off a bit foreign to me, with a different set of people writing them. After watching the video they had posted on Youtube about the decision, I got that same sense about the new stories going forward. That said, I am not opposed to a redo on some Characters in the EU or Movies, mainly Boba Fett, as they seemed to remove all the mystery from him, and just seemed like some grumpy old guy concerned about his stocks and the price of Beskar iron. But that is just me :)

Thanks Jeff! Hope you enjoy the episode. We're planning to have a (relatively) short discussion about the newly announced novels and put it out for "Star Wars Day" on May 4th as a sort of bonus show.

In honour of Star Wars Day, we put out a "special edition" episode talking about all the recent EU announcements. It was a fun little chat!

Caught up on all the episodes today and really enjoying the casts. I've never read any Star Wars books ( bar the making of and the adaption of A New Hope) so listening to you three is a great way  of being introduced to it all.
Keep up the great work the chemistry between the three of you is top notch :)

You know what you should read Meds? The novelization of Revenge of the Sith. I think you would really like it.

This.

Also, the followup book "Rise of Darth Vader" is great.

Thanks for listening!
