Looks like it's getting close to release. They have scaled it down to be 1:500, which based on the completed kit length makes the JJ 'Prise about 300m, similar to the TOS Enterprise. But in the 9min. trailer it still looked like they were trying to go with the 2000 foot monster the ship was sometimes in the first movie. :old_bash:
Regardless, I'm getting it. :)

Awesome! Looks sweet! Makes me think the big girl will survive anything Cumberkhan can dish out! :)
That's a fine looking model. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

It's actually a little ragged on the paint work, but I assume that's just a rush job to get it to the show, as evidenced from this angle of the model!
I am looking forward to this one as well, I think it will be a fun one to work on. Those over Sized Nacelles look like it will be fun to put together.
Nice model, however I never liked he redisign. give me an NCC 1701A!!
So, did you get this kit yet Bryan? 1/500 scale kit of the JJ-Enterprise. Looks pretty sweet. Lots of videos on Youtube on the kit, building it, etc. I'll post a few below.

Steve Neil is doing one and there is a nice one on the RPF going. The kit is really expensive to get from Germany thought, so I haven't jumped in yet. :)
That eBay link I posted only works out to about $60. shipped. But the price and shipping varies a lot per listing.
I would aslo like to wait until JT Graphics or someone else makes aztec decals for it.
This new JJ-Prise seems to have only a very subtle Aztec pattern. I like the way the Trekworks guys masked and airbrushed their ship.

Yeah, there are guys making the masks but I have never tried that. I suppose this would be a good kit to try, alothough I do not have an air brush.
Damn you Rico! I bought it. :) And in the RPF thread they found the first company that will make the new decals!

You need an airbrush. You will discover how much fun they are vs. using a simple aerosol can. So much more control and function.
P.S. I'm about to buy a kit too I think - LOL!
Ha!!!!
Ta-da!
Awesome. Psyched to see how your build comes out, haven't had the stones I drop the dough on this kit yet.
Man - I need to just retire and build models! Can't wait to see how it works out for you Bryan.
oh hells yes.
ditto, can't wait to see this
Cool Pickup Bryan, looking forward to seeing your build. From the Trek works videos, it looks like it goes together pretty well.
...and so it begins.
...a little more.
Come on Bryan! Hurry it up man! ;)

I'm going to build the sub assemblies up to a point and wait to see if those PNT decals come out.
That came together better then my PL kits! So far a well engineered model...
That's because the kit is from an alternate universe! ;)

Ha! Having made so many Polar Lights/Round 2 kits it may as well be!
Looking Good Bryan. When watching a few videos of builds, they remarked that the Secondary Hull for the ship, that the plastic was more flimsy then the Saucer, did you find that on yours as well? They did indicated that there were some brackets that reinforced it, but just curious if they are all made the same way or not.

I haven't even taken the secondary hull off the sprue's yet but I do see the bracing parts and they seem thicker. I have painted the windows gloss black as I am not lighting the ship and want them to contrast with the white hull.
I'm back at it! Finally got the Aztec decals ordered. Secondary hull went together great.
Looking pretty slick so far!
It's a nice kit, I have to say!
The kit looks great, one thing I don't love is how the deflector protrudes out from the "neck" of the primary hull, it looks a bit disjointed. Nothing to with the kit of course, just the general design of the ship.
Yeah, I'm still not a huge fan of the design.
Yeah, that's my least favorite part of the design. It disrupts the flow of the ship.
Got my hands on her ample nacelles today... :ohbaby These still need some clean up and touch up, especially the end caps/bussard collectors. I have Aztec decals on the way!
Definitely ample nacelles on that baby!
Great your making progress on it Bryan. Sounds like a good kit to put together.
Apologies for the delay, it took a while to get the aztec decals in. I bought them directly from PNT Models. They never arrived so I made a claim with PayPal and go the $ back and then bought their very same PNT decals through CultTV Man shop at the same price. Weird. anyway, I started applying them and man, these are a challenge. They are PAPER thin and rip easily. I already will have to leave two off the bottom of the primary hull, which you can't really see on display, because I had to improvise to make sure the top was complete. They look good though. I still have a few more to go around the bridge. I had already applied most of the decals that came with the kit before putting on the aztec, including that ring and the phasers and the grey blocks. by the way, to get the phasers right you have to make small holes for the phaser emitters. In 1/350 scale on my big Refit E that's easy, in this scale it's a PITA.
Even though you had to improvise, I think you are doing a great job, looks good to me. Are they large pieces, or smaller and easier to manage?
I know a lot of people clear coat the model with gloss before applying models, then after they will apply a dull coat after to bring it back down. I think I have seen Trekworks also spray the decals with some Testors Decal set to strengthen them up a bit before he applies them.
Looks great so far.
Nice! I wonder if you cut the decals into smaller pieces and line them up on the ship if they would be easier to deal with and apply?
Jeff, yes I did apply a clear coat of gloss, but these decals are inferior to the ones I bought for the big refit. Rico, yes, it would be easier to cut them in half and apply them.
Still chipping away at this...
Keep at it Bryan! Looking forward to seeing it complete.
These decals tend to bubble a bit, will need to go over this with an exact knife and some decal set and then hit it with dull coat. And they are thin as hell, I had to use two from the bottom saucer section on the top, so the bottom will be missing a few.
Looks like you are doing a good job Bryan, sounds like those Decals are a bit of a bear to deal with, maybe is some of the spots where you had some issues, you can add some scoring or weathering after.
FINALLY. This one was a chore with decidedly mixed results, the Aztec decals were almost more trouble then they were worth. I have to clean some things up, but generally it's done. It's a nice kit, though, and comes together pretty well.
Looks good Bryan. Man, those engines are long! Is it stable on that stand?
Yeah, the nacelles and primary hull are both remarkably light.
I also used some of the kit provided decals, the ones in the darker grey, as the aztec versions just didn't pop enough.
You need to do some stop motion animation with it.
Very nice Bryan! WOW!
Very nice!
Great Job Bryan
