The first short vignette is now up for this new Trek fan film series. It picks up right at the very end scene of the last TOS episode aired. Looking forward to seeing where this series goes.

Digging Arex. The actor playing Kirk seems pretty good, and kudos on recreating the last scene of Turnabout Intruder.

This isn't the Arex containing series, that one is from the Phase II folks.
D'oh, sorry got them mixed up! :ohwell Watched them both in a row. Either way, they both actually look great.
Chris Doohan as Scotty, so glad he got involved.
Nice interview and looking forward to seeing more from these guys.
See now these guys look so much better then the other "crew". Chris Doohan lost a lot of weight!
Now on Youtube too.
Sta Trek: Continues (beginning) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Lmw2Kc_UPo#)
I like this guy as Kirk.
Yeah, this Kirk's acting chops seem more to my liking.
It seems I agree with the consensus (sp?). I think Kirk was the standout performance in that. I need to catch up with the phase II stuff but I'll also need to keep an eye on these now.
Another vignette....
"You've Got The Conn" Vignette (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDLnFkFjO0U#)
That's very cute!
Amazingly enough, I actually think this is pretty good. The characters look and feel more the part and the acting and dialogue is much better then other fan productions. What I really think they nailed is just the tone and pacing of the show, it reads very TOS for me. These guys premiered their first episode here at Phoenix Comic-Con on Friday and have been spotted all over the place here in town. Check it out, worth a watch and I have NEVER felt that about any of the other efforts.

I like this a lot more than New Voyages...like you said they nailed the tone pretty well. AND they have a legit star from Star Trek Into Darkness in it! ;)

Who?
Chris Doohan, he was the transporter chief in STID and he plays Scotty in this.

Oh, that's right, I forgot he was in the movie!
I spotted him twice this time, and my wife even remarked that he looked like James Doohan.
Very enjoyable episode. Fun to see Michael Forest back as Apollo. Nice story, some pretty good acting for the most part too. I just can never get enough of seeing those TOS sets! Oh, did you guys realize that was Larry Nemecek who I interviewed awhile back playing McCoy. All in all, it's great to have another TOS fan series to follow.
P.S. I'll merge this with the thread I started awhile back on this fan series.
Thanks Rico, I knew there was a thread but couldn't find it. Nd I recall your interview with Larry nd I saw Apollo and much of the cast of continues at the Phoenix Comic-con yesterday!

I shared them on the FB page!
Marina Sirtis was the voice of the computer, cool! :)
After Apollo's appearance [spoiler]]on the planet as a messenger of peace, I half expected the one-year-later scene would reveal - as Uhura once said 'a culture of son worshipers.[/spoiler
I loved this. Everything was spot on, like watching classic TOS. I look forward to more! :-)
My wife and I both enjoyed this episode and thought it was great!

Yeah, for the first time we seem to have pretty much a unanimous positive response to a fan film here on the forums! It certainly wasn't perfect, Vic as Kirk is great but his voice is just pitched too high, our friend Ed as Bones is a little choppy, the Sulu guy is trying to do too much George, and Chekov's accent is intermittent, but the pacing, cut scene's, camera angles all just scream TOS.

Yeah, the guy trying to do Sulu is Grant Imahara from myth busters and the designer of Craig Ferguson's robot, but I agree with you that he was trying too hard to be Takei instead of being Sulu if that makes sense. Over all, I think I liked this one the best out of all the many other fan shows.
Grant could definitely tone down his Sulu a little bit.
You know I hardly noticed these little problems because I thought it was really well acted and the story was very compelling. If this is how good they are in their "Pilot" episode imagine how good it will be with a few shows under their belt.
Funny, behind the scenes pic from the shoot.

Agreed! This looks like it will be a lot of fun.
Hmmm, if only we could get Jolene Blaylock in for a guest appearance....her in that Terran Empire outfit...
Great behind the scenes short on the series and it's main star and reason it's getting made...

Yeah, I can certainly identify with Vic and his childhood.
