Title: iPad stand/doc/speakers
Post by: Rico on November 28, 2011, 08:31:56 AM
Anyone use or like a certain iPad stand/doc/speaker setup?  I'm thinking I want to put one on my Chritmas list so I can sit the iPad next to me on my computer desk when I'm working on my PC.  Looking for recommendations.

I have an Altec Lansing iPod Dock I use along with a dock extender I bought (http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/dockextender/ (http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/dockextender/)). Originally we bought the extender because our iPhones wouldn't fit on the dock with the cases on them. A nice plus was that it works for the iPad as well!

I did a lot of searching around for a good iPod dock and the reviews on the Altec said it was just as good sound quality wise as the Bose dock but half the price.

For a more iPad-specific dock take a look at this: http://www.alteclansing.com/ae/ca/home-speakers/octiv-stage-mp450/invt/mp450/&bklist=icat,3,shop,ipodiphonespeakers (http://www.alteclansing.com/ae/ca/home-speakers/octiv-stage-mp450/invt/mp450/&bklist=icat,3,shop,ipodiphonespeakers)

That looks nice.  I was hoping to find something that would let you put the iPad either horizontal or vertical.  Kind of like this one.  Oh, it has to still allow for connecting it via USB to my PC while docked.  I don't want to have to remove it from the doc in order to do that.

I bought the dock/charger that was released when the iPad 1 first came out.  Never been used...want to buy it cheap? ;)

It's actually worthless, literally haven't used it ever, don't see the purpose for it.

Holy cow that looks awesome.  A must buy for me as a classic game nut.

I would be careful. The Atari app that goes with those controls has an average rating of 2.5 stars on the App store.  I havent personally tried it, but 2.5 out of 5 is a terrible rating for a game so "popular".

I actually think the iCade looks better.  You're too young to remember those Atari games, Tim, and so are probably 99% of those "reviewers" on iTunes.

Probably, I was just throwing a word of caution out.

As for iPad stands...I'm just using the official one which isn't too bad, but I'm looking at getting a better one, one of these days.

I kind of like this one too from Logitech.  It allows rotating the display, altering the viewing angle, charging and speakers.  Price is not bad either.

Rico, Marko, that Logitech does look awesome and that price is nice. I've been using the iPad2 standard dock, which isn't bad, but you can only use it potrait not landscape...which sucks for movies. I may try this Logitech out!
