The music of Hans Zimmer with guest host Vartok is online now for this week's special, musical podcast. This is a packed show with all kinds of awesome info and clips. Thanks very much to Vartok for taking the time to do this for the show this week. I know he didn't have a lot of time to pull all this together, but I know all of you will enjoy it greatly! Thanks Vartok! :metallica:

Here's a little bit of his music to get you in the mood for the podcast....

Awesome, will download tonight for my Monday podcast experience :D
An E-X-C-E-L-E-N-T podcast episode! I heard it twice! Besides two factors that surely truly help it to be good - that music is much easier to include in a podcast than pictures or videos and that Zimmer's music is great - the way it was assembled, with Zimmer's own voice describing the work, was superb!
Congratulations, Vartok! :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup
I love Hans Zimmer's style a lot. Very inspiring actually, and Hans (at least to me) has a very identifiable sound. Almost always uses that thrumming drum line! AWESOME!!
Good topic, that was a lot of ground to cover - love your narration.
I learned a lot from this. I'd never realised that one man was responsible for all of that music.
Thanks, Vartok! And excellent episode. I love hearing the range of these composers. :)
I like doing these type of deep dives on a composer since:
I have to bolster my collection to cover the period and breadth (a plus for me - I love this music)
I learn more about the composer by doing the research (which is fairly easy given the web these days, for most anyway), and
because I actually get to enjoy the final result of feeling like I appreciate the composer better by the time I am finished.
This one on Hans and the John Williams guestcast both took between 30-40 hours to prepare, so I take the "job" seriously enough to do a good effort so that you are given a true measure of the composer. So thanks for the kind remarks and in another year I will do another one (assuming, gasp, that Rico is still producing)! Hmm, should I do Jerry Goldsmith next? Tyler? Powell? the list goes on!

Fantastic podcast Vartok why you don't have your own podcast is beyond me. Brilliant biography, great clips and great production.
Great Podcast Vartok, learned a lot and cool to hear so much Music. It really fit with my commute to and from work today.
Well done, Vartok!
I was fully absorbed in the presentation and learned some great knowledge on this prolific composer. Your love of music and appreciation for these composers really shows. So glad that you emerged to share this with us.
My first encounter with Hans Zimmer was in the Barbara Hershey film, "A World Apart". I went out and bought the soundtrack cassette right away. It is because of this film that I associated him as being adept with the African sound. After hearing the breadth of his work, it's apparent that he's just adept.
I know that a lot of work goes into somthing like this, but please do more of these. Thanks for enlightening us.
Thanks for doing this podcast Vartok, I had no idea some of the movies he had done or games for that matter. Really appreciated the time and work you put into this podcast, Zimmer is one of my favorites just as much as John Williams is.
My suggestion for your next show is Harry Gregson-Williams. One of my favorites :). Does all sorts of game and movie soundtracks and never fail to be great. I'd be curious to hear more about him.

Harry Gregson-Williams is a protege of Hans Zimmer via his Remote Control Productions company. He actually is on my short list of future composers.

Just getting caught up after hell week last week. Vartok, this is an amazingly put together podcast. You reminded me of some great soundtracks I need to pull out of the CD rack and encode.
I'd listen to a Vartok music podcast every week.
Vartok does rock.
Vartok this cast was a highlight for me. Thank you for taking the time to produce it, your music casts and segments are always interesting, educational and entertaining. Heck I would send in a audio comment saying as much, but it's probably a little late for that now!
Thank you all for your kind comments - I aim to please.

And you do a good job of it. Start thinking of the next show you want to do for early 2012. Hint - hint! :)
I had gotten behind on the podcasts so I'm a little late on posting on here about it but I really enjoyed it as I love listening to soundtracks from movies and TV! I really liked how you used so much of his music during the podcast and shared so much interesting information about him. I was surprised to find out that I didn't have much of his music in my collection. I need to get on the ball!
I would like to hear one on James Horner or Jerry Goldsmith.
Thank you for the great podcast Vartok.
