Title: The Adventures Of Tintin
Post by: Bromptonboy on October 17, 2011, 06:13:28 AM
Thought I would start a thread on this one.  I always loved these stories, so I am really looking forward to seeing this on the big screen.

Welcome to growing up in Quebec! My education was actually 100% french until 3rd grade and then half French/half English until I graduated from high school.  The Tintin stories are originally from Belgium anyways :)

Saw this this morning and I have to say I was impressed on a number of levels.

As I said above, I'm not as familiar with Tintin as some but the story fit with what I know and was fully believable in the Tintin-verse. (Maybe less so in reality, but who cares). It had my kids exclaiming aloud in enjoyment at various points and you can't ask more than that in a family film.

The lines between live action and animation are really blurring fast now, this was as good an animation as I've seen. Not perfect, but very good, water, hair, clothing material all looking pretty natural.

More well known names than you can shake a stick at too. An enjoyable morning at the cinema all round.

We have to wait until 12/21 to see this one.  :(
My kids know some of the Tin-Tin stories, so we are looking forward to this one.

See, that marks you out as a stereotypical American, right there! ;)

I was surprised when I heard they were making this series into a movie as it's not very big over here in the U.S. but it has some big names attached so that might help it out.

I will be honest, these types of movies usually don't interest me, but have to say I am looking forward to Tin Tin. I had Tin Tin comics when I was a kid, and would read them over and over. I also I watched the Adventures of Tin Tin cartoon series later on, and always liked them. Been years, so my memory is a bit foggy on it, but excited to see the movie and reclaim some of those memories.

Think we are seeing this tonight.  Shelling out for 3D Imax even....which hurts the thrifty old Scot in me!  ;)

I saw a sneak preview a few weeks ago and totally LOVED it. Some of the best use of 3D since Avatar.

Finally saw this today with the kids - 3D and in Imax.  It was pretty good.  The animation is pretty amazing - so life like.  There was a trailer for the Hobbit before.

Took a break from my busy life and saw Tin Tin today. It was quite enjoyable. Lots of action and the CGI is amazingly good. The CGI looks like it could almost be real except for the stylized aspect of the film. And I really liked the style of it. I'd recommend everybody to go see it and it's kid friendly. Great family film I'd say.

Also to note of those who've seen it I don't know if anybody else caught the Hot Fuzz reference, but I thought that was pretty cool. It was quick. And I'm betting there are even more little references and little details I didn't catch this time around. I'm definitely picking it up on DVD when it comes out to watch again and try to find all those little details.
