Sad. What a pioneer, he really is one of the people we will look back on as shaping our future.

Sad news.  A true visionary and unique person.  My thoughts go out to his family.

i was out having dinner with my wife when i looked at a TV screen and saw that Steve had passed, felt like someone had punched me in the Stomach like a family member had died. I am in the computer hardware industry and have had been an early adopter of Apple back in the early 90's ...been to many Macworlds came within a few feet of Steve and thoroughly enjoyed all the Apple products through the last few decades. Steve changed the world.....God bless you Steve Jobs .

"Here's to the Crazy Ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore
them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them
as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world - are the ones who DO!"
~ Apple Computers ~

When the computer industry was going in one direction, he went in the other. When his competition was pushing megahertz, he put usability before all else. When critics said his ideas would fail, he stayed the course. The world now expects the best of their computing products because he taught us that's how it's supposed to be.

Oh dear that was a shock to read this morning. What a genius of modern tech. He must if held out as long as possible while working.

I think it's safe to say though his memory will live on with great feeling and enjoyment.

Very sad, Wil Wheaton posted a very nice blog post but the last line is especially true:

QuoteiRIP, Steve Jobs. Thank you for making the incredible things that made it possible for me to live in a real future that's even cooler than the one I pretended to live in when I was flying that spaceship so many years ago.

Steve Jobs shaped my career by providing a platform for learning typography, retouching, animation, digital video production and more. His dream empowered the dreams of creatives who "grew up" using the tools he placed in our hands. We feel close to him because with each new Mac, each new release of software we used, history was being made, our society was being reshaped.

The legacy of Steve Jobs will be long-lasting. He will be missed.

I was reviewing his bio and there a lot was stuff I didn't know. He was damned good at marketing.

*edited to change the wording around a bit.

That was his gift. He was also the example of how to present to an audience.
