So far the show is rocking Rico!  Thank you so much!

Here are the lyrics to the new original song "Prepare for Blast Off!"

http://www.startrekparodies.com (http://www.startrekparodies.com)

Prepare for Blast Off
Music and lyrics by Rick Moyer

In a dusty trailer park I'm waiting
For my destiny to be served
Put another quarter in the stand up arcade machine
I'll defend the Universe in the Rylan Star League

Galactic Greetings young star fighter
You've been Recruited by the Star League
To defend the frontier
Fighting against Xur and Ko Dan Armada
Get ready prepare for Blast Off!

And so I'm recruited by Centauri
A real old guy with a fancy car
In my gunstar with Grig the Iguana
It's up to us and all we are

Galactic Greetings young star fighter
You've been Recruited by the Star League
To defend the frontier
Fighting against Xur and Ko Dan Armada
Get ready prepare for Blast Off!

That was a excellent podcast, Rico!  I enjoyed all the comments and Rick's great song.  It's was good to see that this movie meant so much to so many people.

"Until the next Dimension!"

Loved it! :)

There are several Trek connections in this movie ( a few were mentioned on the show)

Trek actors that appear in this movie: Wil Wheaton, Marc Alaimo and Meg Wyllie (Granny in this movie played a Talosian in the TOS pilot The Cage)

Apparently the "command table" in the alien base was later used in TNG as the Engineering table. Can anybody confirm this?

A prop used at the Alien base later shows up as one of Beverley Crushers medical doodads in TNG, not quite sure which one but it is seen being used on it's side in the movie.

Thanks again Rico for introducing me to this movie!

Glad you guys are enjoying the podcast.  I've not heard about the table or any prop connections to TNG, Dan.  So as they say, I can neither confirm nor deny it's true.  I do know it's a Universal movie and not a Paramount movie.  But I'm sure they share things at times.

That's so funny, I never gave any thought where you found that promo music! That was like one of your very early podcast intro's, too funny!

Here's all the Memory Alpha trivia about the "pool table", looks like it was a prop from Star Trek 4.

QuoteThe unit was affectionately known by production astaff as the "pool table." It was previously used as a console in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home in Starfleet Command, San Francisco. (Star Trek Encyclopedia 2nd ed., p. 291)
It made its first appearance in "Where No One Has Gone Before".

Wow, and to but a bow on this, my good friend in high school traveled to Hollywood and saw that very scene in STIV being filmed!

These production details and tie-ends make the movie all the more interesting.
Thanks for the info!

A bit of info on Centauri's flying car.

According to a few sources I've looked at the car was actually built by Gene Winfield (who also designed the shuttlecraft in TOS) and is a working prop but looks based around a Delorean.

Ironically, the car later appeared in Back To The Future II :)

I loved Centauri's flying car. The way they introduced its flight capability in the film was priceless. I still think that car looks cool.

Nice "Back To The Future II" sighting.

Ahh. The good old days of CGI, when hundreds of flat shaded polygons were a strain on the computing technology of the day...

I agree. Anyone ever seen a model kit of one of those? I'd love to build one.

Great podcast this week, based on one of the movies that makes me feel better if I'm in a crappy mood.

The TreksInSciFi promo with "The Last Starfighter" music always reminds me of The Blue Brothers scenes where they are recruiting people to go to their review, by using that massive PA system strapped to the top of the car.  :0)
