Look at all those patents they got, not a week ago was one of the higher ups complaining about a "conspiracy" of Microsoft/Apple/RIM trying to remove Google's Droid from the market and here they go and buy quite a few patents....

Pot, meet this kettle...

Sorry.  Anyway, it should be interesting to see how this works out in the long run.  Google could pull together some interesting phones out of this deal that wouldn't be laden with Moto's software, but have their good hardware powering it.

Google just became a manufacturing company, time will tell if it's a direction they can manage. Now RIM is in play big time as a takeover candidate. How the mighty have fallen.

Yeah, RIM released their new set of phones, but they are pretty much the same phones with better specs.  Playbook is failing to catch on because someone thought a non-native email client was "smart" (amongst other things)...RIM is a decent company, but they are playing catch up.  For the business sector they are fine for the time being, but I think they'll lose the rest of their consumer clients in the coming years as Apple & Droid outstrip the company.
