Title: DC Comics - The New 52!!!!
Post by: WillEagle on August 12, 2011, 09:12:14 AM
As you may have heard from Meds a couple weeks back on the podcast DC is relaunching there titles with 52 #1's!! The fun kicks off of Aug. 31 with the release of Justice League. This title is written by the great Geoff Johns with the penciller being Jim Lee and the inker is Scott Williams. The Justice League lineup looks to be Superman, Batman, the Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Cyborg. I think that will be a nice lineup.
I have also read that Action Comics #1 is the cornerstone of the entire DC Universe. This comic is coming out Sept. 7.
I'm planning on getting 3 or 4 titles on the new 52 even though I would like to get more. I'll post later on the ones I'm planning to get.
Which ones do you plan on getting??

As an ex comic book collector I am very tempted to pick some of these up but I know if I will I'll get hooked then I will soon be bankrupt! Lol

LOL i looked at the list last night (the one i read out on the podcast) and i think i will pick up at least 7 of the titles, mainly Superman, Batman, Supergirl, and a couple others. If i like the cover of the others i will pick them up as well. My biggest problem is that I am a number 1 collector so if i kept to my rule i'd have to buy all 52 eek.

Do you get your comics online Meds?

If so who do you use currently?

I'm probably with Meds and will get 5-7 or so titles.  The biggies and maybe a couple I've never really gotten into for a change of pace like Flash.  I have mixed feelings on this whole thing but I think I'd be much more upset if Marvel was doing it.

I'm planning on getting Justice League, Justice League International, and probably The Fury of Firestorm. I'm probably going to get the Action Comics #1 but probably won't stay with it. Thinking about the Green Lantern ones because of how much I have been enjoying the Green Lantern grapic novels I have been reading. If I could afford them all I would probably do Superman too. But with already getting The Avengers, Captain America, DC Online, and soon the new Star Trek, plus a couple of mini series,  3 is probably all I will get.
I like the Justice League titles because you get alot of characters to read about in one book instead of needing to buy many.

So, anyone read the new "Justice League" #1 yet?  I wasn't that impressed.  Granted it's one short issue, but I'm wondering how much this whole thing will grab the long time comic reader.  Anyway, I'll be reading other #1's in this DC revamp still.

It seems to be very expensive over here. I tend to buy my comics from a source on ebay at a good price but this is three times the normal amount.

Waiting for mine in the mail. I was really looking forward to the Johns/Lee collaboration, but more for Jim Lee's art...which looks fantastic. Maybe it's setting up this new premise, and once they get into a meaty arc it will hit its stride. I hear the first baddie the JL will deal with is Darkseid.

The art is awesome.  I've always loved Jim Lee's art.  But, I'm a bit surprised it wasn't at least a double issue.  Not a lot happens.

Lot's of The New 52 releases today! Which ones did you pick up?? I picked up Justice League International, Action Comics & Green Arrow. This is my ratings on each title I have so far.
Justice League - 8
JLI - 10
Action Comics - 9
Green Arrow - 9
I planned on just getting #1 of Action but will be getting next months issue. I didn't plan on picking up Green Arrow at all, but it looked so cool! Also looked at Detective Comics and Stormwatch.
To those that are reading these new 52 comics have any of you noticed anything in each of the books??

Lots of The New 52 this week. I decided not to get any of this weeks even though a couple of them seemed interesting. Green Lantern and Batman & Robin. There has been alot of talk about how different the Superboy title is as well.
Next week I have the new Star Trek comic plus Captain America, Captain America Corps & The Avengers. I may not have have enough funds to pick up any of The New 52. There are 4 that look pretty good including Batman, Green Lantern Corps, Supergirl & Wonder Woman. What to do, what to do!
Have any of you picked up any of these new 52??
Title: Re: DC Comics - The New 52!!!!

I enjoyed "Batman & Robin" #1 and "Action Comics" # 1.  Didn't care much for the "Green Arrow" book (and he was a big favorite of mine for awhile back in the day).  I've read a couple others like "Batwoman" and they didn't grab me much so far.
Title: Re: DC Comics - The New 52!!!!
Post by: WillEagle on September 22, 2011, 04:57:33 PM
I picked up Supergirl #1 and I thought it was pretty good. I would give it an 8. They get right into the action! I ended up with just 1 new 52 this week because I had 4 books on my pull this week. I was thinking about Green Lantern Corps and I didn't see it when I was looking for it. Another comic was covering it up so the guy running the place told me it was over there and he let me put it the pull box for next week. Awesome! They sold out of the Wonder Woman because I would have got that instead of Supergirl but it wasn't to be.
Next week I have Fury of Firestorm on my pull list. May pick up another one too.

Ok, got and read "Supergirl" and "Wonder Woman" now.  Liked Supergirl quite a bit.  Nice art, story is interesting.  Wonder Woman was a let down for me.  Didn't really care for the art or the story.

I wanted to check out the Wonder Woman and I had noticed that is was going to be a different art style. I was thinking of asking if the comic shop could get a copy for me. Don't think I will now.
Rico, didn't you love it how they got right into the action in Supergirl! Cool ending also!

Yep, I liked the style and pace of the Supergirl book a lot.  And the art was terrific too.  Going to probably keep up on this one.

Yeah, I'm thinking of adding it to my pull list. I know you said before you didn't care for the Green Arrow. I liked that book.

I used to read Green Arrow very regularly.  I like him a bit older and more seasoned than the "New 52" version.

Thats a really good point. I didn't read much of his book except I have read the Green Arrow/Black Canary books which I have 2 here from the library. This is the more recent storyline of theirs.

Lots of great "The New 52" books this week. The last batch of #1's. I picked up Superman, the only one he had left, The Fury of Firestorm The Nuclear Men, and The Green Lantern Corps which was released last week. The shop got in 2nd printings of Justice League, Action and Batgirl which had cool covers but I already had then except Batgirl. The Action one had a really cool cover.
I haven't mentioned this before but I like that most of these are still $2.99 I hope they stay that way.
Superman rates a 9.
Firestorm also gets a 9.
Enjoyed them both alot. Firestorm has some bad guys that I really wanted the Firestorm to start pounding on but they didn't quite get to it in this issue. And #2 is a month away!!!!
Enjoyed quite a few of "The New 52" can't wait for the #2's!!

Seems like you have been enjoying these "52" books more than me.  Actually I'm pretty under-whelmed so far.  A couple I've enjoyed but most, mehh.  One thing I'm noticing is so far none are drawing me into characters that I've not enjoyed or followed in the past.  I thought maybe I'd get sucked into reading a new title - like the Teen Titans or Legion, etc.  But, nope - not interested.  So far I like the Bat-books, Supes, Supergirl, ...  I need to read a few more of the recent issues.  Oh, Green Lantern was ok too, but I've followed that book before.  One thing odd to me is for all the hype, they didn't change nearly as much as I thought they would.

Superman seems pretty different.  More of an edge to him, weaker (if he wasn't lying about his arms getting tired from holding up a tanker truck) and no underoos outside his pants!

Batman seems exactly the same, except for Alfred. (sob!)  Is one of the Batman titles outside of the regular continuity and focusing on his early years?  I wish they'd do that again.

Have not read any of the others, though kind of interested in picking up Swamp Thing.

They haven't explained in detail yet but the impression they gave is that he is either a computer program or robot or something.  Oh and by sob I meant *cry* not s.o.b.  I hope they didn't go the route of Jarvis in the Iron Man flicks and make him AI.

Yeah I just reread Detective Comics #1 and realized I misread the scene with Alfred.  It was only two pages and I must have been speed reading because I had alot of comics to get through that day or something.  He was talking about holograms, uploading and syncing to his computer, and his "distress meter" and I guess I thought he sounded like a robot, duh.  Anyway, I was kind of bummed they did that with Jarvis in Iron Man so I'm glad I was wrong here.

Hey, you know what title I liked a lot that surprised me, "Aquaman" #1.  They seem to be really trying to make him someone fun to read about.  Might keep up on this one.
Title: Re: DC Comics - The New 52!!!!

Yes, Rico I have been enjoying these quite a bit. More than I thought I would. I have gotten into 9 titles that I may not be able to keep up with all of them. I picked up Action Comics, JLI, Green Arrow #2's and I also grabbed Detective #1 2nd printing because Jeremy was telling me which 2nd printings he got in. Sooo I got one of the Detective and he put Detective #2 in my box for next week. I know you guys really like the Batman comics so I wanted to give one a shot.
I read JLI and Green Arrow and rate both an 8. I didn't like them as well as the #1's. Still need to read Action and the Detective comics.
Rico, you said in an earlier post that you may check out the Flash. Did you get a chance to do that? They didn't have any Flash or Aquaman when i got to the shop so I missed those. Here is a pic of the issues I picked up!

Yep, I read The Flash #1.  It was pretty good.  He's probably one of the characters I know the least about so I might try and follow this book for awhile.
Title: Re: DC Comics - The New 52!!!!
Post by: WillEagle on October 16, 2011, 08:48:44 AM
This past week I did pick up Detective #2 but still haven't read #1 or 2 yet. They did have a second printing of Flash but i just better not get into another one of the new 52. I have already gotten into 7 of these and if I stick with Detective comics thats 8. And I also get Captain America, The Avengers, Star Trek, DC Universe Online Legends, and Captain America Corps which ends with this weeks issue. And there is a new HULK comic, coming out this week I think, that I would like to start!!
Action #2 was really good a very strong 9.  It has a good story going by Grant Morrison.
Green Arrow #2 - 8.
JLI #2 - 8.

I will be picking up some new ones today but last week i picked up 3 of the New 52.
Supergirl #2 - 8. A battle with her cousin.
The Green Lantern Corps #2 - 9. This series has started out great!
Justice League #2. Haven't read this yet.

Picked up #2 of The Fury of Firestorm and was going to get #2 Superman but he had sold out. I got their earlier than I normally do because of being on vacation but he said he was really busy when he opened up. He was going to try and order it for me.

Read Firestorm #2 and didn't like it as much as the first issue. Maybe because I read it after the World Series game and it was almost midnight is why i didn't like it as much. Shouldn't read one that late and not after the team I rooted for loses the Series!

I am wondering if DC will be trimming this line down at some point.  There seem to be too many books to really keep up on and some seem pretty weak to me.
Title: Re: DC Comics - The New 52!!!!
Post by: WillEagle on December 04, 2011, 09:05:28 AM
I haven't seen where they plan to trim down the books. They have been coming out with some new mini-series as well that cover heroes not in the New 52. I picked these up about 3 weeks ago and The Green Lantern Corps does not disapoint. The story is called "Force of Will" and it was not only a cool name for the comic but it was a very good one!
Green Lantern Corps #3 - 9!
Supergirl #3 - 9! A really good story line starting in this one.
Haven't read the Justice League or Superman #2 yet. I had missed #2 but they got more in at the comic shop.

These 2 books were from two weeks ago and I did read the Firestorm and enjoyed it alot better than #2 so for now I'm going to stick with it. Still need to read Superman. And there were no New 52 that i picked up this last week.
Firestorm #3 - 8.

This batch of the New 52 was from last week and I just wanted to say I have been enjoying the Green Arrow series quite a bit. I need to catch up on the other titles and plan to do so some this weekend. I have gotten into to many of these New 52 and I should cut back on some...BUT I DON"T WANT TOO!!!!
New bad guy in JLI. I don't regonize him. Looks like Batman is in TROUBLE! Really like the Green Arrow cover and I did read this one and I rate it a 8.
Check these out!!

Finally got to catch up on Justice League and JLI. Here is my ratings for them.
Justice League #3 - 9
JLI #3 - 9
JLI #4 - 8.
Still need to catch up on other titles like Superman and Detective.
I picked up these 2 issues last night along with The Avengers and a graphic novel of the Incredible Hulk called "Split Decisions. They didn't have the new Supergirl so he was going to order one for me.
I did read both issues.
Justice League - 9
Green lantern Corps - 8
Here is a pic of the new issues.

I picked these up last week but finally have a chance to post a pic and talk about them a little bit. Green Arrow was another good one as was the JLI. JLI 'seemed' to end the current storyline but I'm not too sure. Green Arrow was also another good romp. The one I really wanted to talk about though was the Action Comic. I don't know how many of you out there read Issue #5 of Action but to me it's main story wasn't the best but there was a second short story included about Jonathan and Martha Kent. Possible spoiler here!! It is about them trying to have children and failing to do so. I don't know if I ever mentioned it on here before but my wife and I were also not able to have children so I was surprised to see such a story in a comic book. There may be others that I'm not aware of but that really surprised me and yes got to me a little bit. Saying that though I thought is was a very well done story and pretty accurate as well. Well except for the part of a rocket from Krypton falling to Earth. I sometimes do have certain reactions to some of the comics I read but this short story had a whole new reaction. Even though the story hit home pretty hard I rated the issue an 8. The story was written by Sholly Fisch and I am going to look up and see if I can find more work from this writer.
JLI - 9
Green Arrow - 8.
Here's a pic of the issues I picked up last week.

Here are the issues I picked up on Thursday. Green Lantern Corps has been very good so far and I have been enjoying the Supergirl comic as well. Justice League was supposed to be out but It didn't come in yet. I missed issue #4 of Supergirl and they ordered one for me. Haven't had the chance to read these yet.
I did decide to drop Detective comics and I may drop the Firestorm title. I'm just getting too many and with two of my other tiltes ending soon I'll have a little wiggle room for other mini-series that may come out.
Here is a pic.

#5 gets an 8.
I picked up 3 more #5's on Saturday. Haven't read any of them yet. I really like the cover of the Justice League book. The cover was done by Jim Lee & Scott Williams with Alex Sinclair.

Firestorm #5 - 8. This title goes back and forth for me. I'm still debating on dropping it.
Superman #5 - 8. This title for me has been pretty consistant. However they are starting with a new creative team with issue #7.
Justice League #5 - 10+! This was an awesome issue. The art on the last page was awesome! It really gives you a feeling that your not on Earth anymore!
The 3 books I picked up this week were JLI, Green Arrow & Action Comics. So far I have only read the JLI and I really enjoyed it.
JLI #6 - 9.
Check out the pic of the this weeks releases.

I think I'm enjoying Aquaman and the Justice League the best of the new 52.  I still read Batman and Supergirl too.  Oh, Catwoman is pretty cool too.

Picked up 2 issues on Wed. I know I said it before but I'll say it again the Green Lantern Corps storyline has been really good. Issue 6 ended the current storyline. Supergirl has also been pretty good. I give both Supergirl #6 and GLC #6 an 8. Here is a pic of the issues.

This weeks New 52 I picked up was the Superman and Firestorm #6. I haven't read Superman yet but i did read Firestorm. And I have decided to drop Firestorm from my pull list because it just isn't that good overall and also they use the Lord's name in vain way to much. I just don't like that. I can put up with the curse words over them doing that. Yes it's going to pop up in other comics and books I read but to me the Firestorm just over does it. So i'm dropping it.
Firestorm #6 - 5.
When I find out for sure I will let you know the titles that are being dropped in the New 52 and the titles that they are adding.

I did drop the Firestorm series. I may pick up the Avengers Assemble series thats coming out which has the characters from the movie in it as the core group. The latest issue I picked up is Justice League. And check out this cover to see who came for a visit!

Here are the ones I picked up on Friday. The Green Arrow has a different team doing the writting and art. So we will see how that ends up. I don't always like it when they change like that.

I have mixed feelings overall on the new 52 stuff.  Some stuff I like, some things I don't.  I'm glad they didn't seem to mess with Batman too much as he probably is my favorite DC character.

I believe the Batman and Green Lantern series seem to have stayed pretty close to what came before. No huge changes for those titles.

Here are two books I picked up Wed. Justice League #7 and Green Lantern Corps #7.
Title: Re: DC Comics - The New 52!!!!
Post by: WillEagle on April 01, 2012, 12:03:30 PM
I read the Green Lantern Corps and again really enjoyed it. It's seems to be starting a story arc based on something that John Stewart had to do in a earlier issue. It was very well done with a story which really isn't action packed. Peter J. Tomasi is a great writer. Also got caught up on the Action comics and Green Lantern title. It was easy to do when there is tornado sirens going off and we went to the basement. I grabbed my shoes, a Bible, and a bag of comics with my newer ones in it. Here's my ratings.
Green Lantern #7 - 10.
Green Arrow #6 - 8.
Green Arrow #7 - 8.
Action Comics #6 - 7.
Action Comics #7 - 9.
Action Comics is being written by Grant Morrison and overall has been a good series. It's one worth checking out.
In Action #7 Superman gets his current costume.
The 2 newest titles I picked up were Supergirl #7 and Superman #7. The Supergirl issue ends a major battle for her. The Superman #7 starts with a new creative team of Dan Jurgens (pencil art and co-plotted), Keith Giffen (scripted and co-plotted), Jesus Merino (finished art).
The Green Arrow started with a new creative team also. The Arrow series does have a different art style but it wasnt to different. Still need to read the Superman.
Check out the covers on these 'SUPER' titles.

Starting off April with 3 new books from the New 52. Action Comics, Justice League International, and Green Arrow. It looks like Superman is out of the blue jeans and into his new costume. If you read Action #7 it shows how he got his costume. Is costume a good word to use for what a superhero wears? Here is a pic of the issues.

I did get the chance to read JLI and Green Lantern #8.
JLI #8 - 8 This one include a guest spot from Batwing.
Green Arrow #8 - 7. Let's see if I can stay with the new creative team.
Picked up 3 more of the New 52. Here are the titles and my ratings.
Justice League #8 - Guest starring Green Arrow. Haven't read this.
Green Lantern Corps #8 - 10!! This one was really good and I really enjoyed the artwork in this issue. Most of it took place on Oa. Very good series. Worth checking it out. Wether your a Green Lantern fan or not.
Supergirl #8 - 8. Introducing the Silver Banshee and this issue had a great lead up to her appearance.
Check out these issues.

Here is the only issue of the New 52 I got this week. It's Superman #8. Issue #7 started a new storyline and with a new creative team. I really liked it so I'm looking foward to reading this new issue. Here is my rating for some of the books I finally got to read followed by a pic of Superman #8.
Superman #7 - 9.
Justice League #6 - 8. Finishing off the 1st storyline. Very cool 2 page spread of Superman flying into Darkseid right in the stomach! And if you have been wondering about that purple cloaked figure in some of the #1 issues she is revealed in a short story at the end of this issue! They also reveal her name.
Pandora
Justice League #7 - 8.
And in an earlier post I mentioned the costumes the superheroes wear. Well in the Justice League #6 comic they were at the Capitol building getting some recognition for taking out Darkseid. The Prez says they "donned their colorful costumes and went into action."  Green Lantern says, "Costumes? I don't wear a costume. This is my uniform." And Aquaman man says "this is Atlantean scale mail." So I would have to say thanks to Green Lantern (and Geoff Johns) I now know they wear uniforms unless your from Atlantis. And yes I probably do have too much time on my hands.  :)

I picked up 3 new ones this week and I did have the chance toread 2 of them. The Supergirl cover is kinda boring but I really like the Green Lantern Corps cover. Very cool and well done by Fernando Pasarin, Scott Hanna & Gabe Eltaeb.
Justice League #9. Haven't read yet.
Supergirl #9 - 7. An ok story continued from last issue. I'll have to say I liked Silver Banshee BEFORE she changed into Silver Banshee.
Green Lantern Corps #9 - 9. Very good ending of this book making you NOT wanting to wait a whole month for the next one. I know thats the idea but it was just the way this one ended that makes me wanting to see what happens a lot quicker than 30 days. Here is a pic of the 3 issues.

Did read issue #9 of Green Arrow and Superman. Superman just came out yesterday and has a pretty cool cover.
Green Arrow #9 - 8.
Superman #9 - 9. Good story which is building up to something. I guess I'll find out in the next issue!
Here is a pic of the Superman comic.

We are now starting issue #10 on The New 52 books! As you know I do read a few of these and for the most part have enjoyed the series I decided to get. So far out of the Action, Green Arrow, JLI, Justice League, Green Lantern Corps, Superman, Supergirl, and Firestorm, I have only dropped Firestorm. I did also request some of the Gaphic novels of the new 52 that started last month from the Library. I requested Catwoman and Batman and when I find them I'll request Green Lantern and Stormwatch.
The new books I got this week are Green Arrow, Action Comics & Justice League International. I haven't read any of them yet. Here is a pic.

I did read Green Arrow and the JLI books but haven't read Action yet. I don't like the new Arrow team as much as the original team. The new team started in issue #7. Maybe I just didn't like the storyline as much.
Picked up 2 new books Wed. Supergirl and Green Lantern Corps.
#10 of Supergirl dropped a notch down for me and it has been pretty consistant and the new storyline that will be starting looks pretty good. Green Lantern Corps has still been pretty good. This would be a great title to pick up if you want to get into a New 52 book. Green Lantern Corps and Justice League would be the two books I would recommend to anybody wanting to get into some of the New 52.
Green Arrow #10 - 7.
Justice League International #10 - 8.
Green Lantern Corps #10 - 8.
Supergirl #10 - 7.
Here is a pic of the new books I picked up this week.

Here are the latest issues of The New 52 I got. The Superman and Justice League were from last weeks releases. Haven't had the chance to read any of them yet. I did read Action #10and it was a very good story with a great twist for Superman/Clark Kent. Looking foward to seeing how this plays out.
Action Comics #10 - 9.
Check out the pic of some of the latest issues. I really like the Action cover. Very cool.

Good choices, Rico. I have heard alot of good things about Aquman. I'll have to catch the graphic novels when they come out. I have enjoyed the Justice League series. I did read JL #10 and Superman #10.
Justice League #10 - 8.
Superman #10 - 9. I really enjoyed this issue and they had a great teaser at the end to really get you wanting the next issue to see whats going to be starting. Can't wait.
I'm still reading the following books of the New 52.
Action Comics
Green Arrow
Green Lantern Corps
Justice League
Justice League International
Supergirl
Superman
I am thinking of dropping the Supergirl title. It hasn't been to bad I'm just not enjoying it as much as I thought I would.
I also was thinking of picking up a new title called Earth 2. Just decided not too. I also have ben enjoying the Superman title but I will admit that I miss the old uniform that he wore.

Well I skipped over the Supergirl this week even though the new storyline looks better than the one I just read. I did get Green Lantern Corps and the Justice League this week. Haven't read the Justice League yet but I did read GLC.
Green Lantern Corps #11 - 9.

Picked up some of these last week and just didn't get it posted yet. I Green Arrow #12. Not liking that cover. Justice League International #12. A sad and errie cover on it. Action #12 and Superman #11. I really like the cover on the Superman. Dan Jurgens and Rapmund with Hi-Fi did the cover.
I haven't read any of these yet but I did read Justice League #11 - 9.

Way behind on my reading but I did pick up some more comics of the New 52. I really tried to drop the Supergirl title but when he still had last months issue plus the new one I couldn't help myself. I still need to drop one or two so that I can pick up some of those new Marvel ones coming out. I'm really thinking of trying the Fantastic Four.
Well I also got the Green Lantern Corps along with the 2 Supergirl's and this past Wed. I got #12 of Superman.
Here are the pics.

Yeah, when the new 52 started Lois & Clark were no longer married.  The Pete & MJ thing was done differently.  They basically made a "deal with the devil."  I've not liked Spidey nearly as much since that event happened.

Teah, in the New 52, Lois and Clark never had a thing. Part of it is to actually be different, the other part probably has to do with the rights of Lois. Dc is going out of their way to make this new Superman less like the original and avoid all of the copyright issues that go with it.

Yeah, to save Aunt May for the 100th time, they made a deal with Mephisto. I'm sure that would make May happy. I'm pretty sure that came down to Quesada never liking the idea that Peter was married. One of the reasons I've been a Marvel fan for decades is that many of the characters progressed in their lives and changed...and it was cool that Spidey was a teacher and husband. Oh, well.

Yeah, I know here have been all those troubles with the Siegels and Shusters. I wonder how it will affect the film? What do you think of how the Super suit fits into the new continuity. I am at the same time not happy history-wise, but also acknowledge that it's a sci-fi convention to make it clear that Superman IS an alien from an advanced civilization.

Picked these up last week at the comic shop. Two of these are Annuals and both look very good. Also interested in seeing why Superman and Wonder Woman are locking lips! Could be an interesting storyline for the Justice League series.
I also took my nephew with me because he wanted to look for some World of Warcraft comics. They didn't have any so he bought a game. I did buy him a Deadpool comic. Check out these cool covers.

Green Lantern Vol.1 - Sinestro - 9.

Clark and Lois is just so much more of an iconic relationship than Peter and MJ though.  If it's really about the copyright issues, I have to believe that the legal wranglings between DC and the family of the character's creators will eventually settle with a big cash payout and there will be some kind of DC event bringing Lois and Clark back together.

I agree that the Spiderman books have been just terrible since the "reboot" of Brand New Day.  I keep checking in periodically but they just stink.  "Back in Black" was the absolute peak of the title, where Spiderman breaks into prison and comes within a hairs breadth of murdering the Kingpin for what he did to May.  Then One More Day was just absurd and everything since has been so dumbed down that I can't bear to read the title.  I get it that they're mainly for kids and teens but there's something about the title now I just can['t relate to anymore.  Have I reached "that certain age?"

Here are some pics of the '0' issues of the series I collect from the New 52. They include Action, Green Arrow, Supergirl, Green Lantern Corps & Justice League. And on a sidenote Justice League International has been canceled. They also canceled the Voodoo series. I did read some of the '0' issues but I am behind on Action and the Justice League series. Here are my ratings for the issues I did read.
Green Arrow #0 - 8
Green Lantern Corps #0 - 9. Good story centering on Guy Gardner when he first joined the Corps.
Supergirl #0 - 8. A story on how she got to Earth.

Over the last few days I have picked up 3 graphic novels from the new 52 from my libarary.  I got Hawk & Dove, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. I'm looking foward to the Aquaman the most. I don't care to much for the art style in the Wonder Woman book but I hope its still a good story.
So far I have read Batman: The Court of Owls, Catwoman: The Game, Green Lantern: Sinestro and Batman and Robin: Born to Kill.
I have on my hold Q at the library Batgirl: The Darkest Reflection, Superboy: Incubation, Birds of Prey: Trouble in Mind, Batman The Dark Knight: Knight Terrors, Green Lantern New Guardians: The Ring, Teen Titans: It's Our Right to Fight and Nightwing: Traps and Trapezes.
I'm still reading the series of Action, Superman, Supergirl, Green Arrow, Green Lantern Corps and Justice League. So I don't need those in Graphic novel form. They canceled Justice League International which I thought was a pretty good series.
Some other I would like to check out are Stormwatch: The Dark Side, All-Star Western: Guns and Gotham, Men of War: Uneasy Company, and coming in November Blackhawks: The Great Leap Foward, Captain Atom: Evolution and The Flash: Move Foward. I think that will cover me pretty good on the New 52.

I borrow the graphic novels from the library so I don't have any of the new 52 in graphic novel form. I still do enjoy the series I get every month. I do have a pretty decent collection of comics and magazines but I wouldn't call it enormous. I do have boxes full of them but if it started to stack up too high the wife might do this...   :old_bash:

Here are issue #13's from October of the New 52 titles I picked up. I did miss getting The Green Lantern Corps so hopefully the comic shop guy ordered me one.
Here are my rating for the titles I have read.
Green Arrow - 6. I hope this series gets better now that the new show is out. They are going to release an Arrow comic coming out Nov. 28.
Justice League - 10. Very good 1st part to a story featuring Cheetah.
Superman - 9. Leading up to a story featured in all the 'Super' books.
Supergirl - 8. She finds her 'Fortress of Solitude' at the bottom of the ocean called 'Sanctuary'.
Action I didn't read yet. I'm about 4 bboks behind on this series.
Here's a pic of the latest issues.

I have currently read 2 more of the New 52 graphic novels. I enjoyed both of them.
Batgirl - Vol. 1 The Darkest Reflection - 8. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
Batman: The Dark Knight - Vol. 1 Knight Terrors - 9. Probably my favorite of the Batman books I've read of the new 52 titles.
The Batman family of books seem to follow the storylines from before where other titles of the New 52 did start over.
As I said before I'm behind on the Action Comic series but I still wanted to post a pic. I think its a pretty cool cover.

Here are the 2 New 52's I got last week. Green Arrow and Action #14. I did read the Arrow but not the Action.
Green Arrow #14 - 7. Still a good series but I think this could be better. I'm going to stick with it for now but I have been thinking of maybe dropping this title. This issue was part of a bigger story from the Savage Hawkman book and I don't like when they do that because you miss some of the story unless you buy the other books. I know why they do that but I wish they wouldn't.

Here is my latest batch of The New 52. Superman, Supergirl, Green Lantern Corps and Justice League. I and miising #13 of GLC still waiting on the comic shop to get more in. Did read a couple of them though.
Supergirl - 9. This started a crossover story with Superman and Superboy. It was a good start.
Superman - 9. Contining the battle with H'el.
Here is a list of some New 52 Vol. 2 graphic novels coming out in Jan.
Green Lantern Vol. 2 - Revenge of the Black Hand.
Justice League International Vol. 2 - Breakdown. This series has ended.
Wonder Woman Vol. 2 - Guts. Didn't enjoy Vol. 1 very much so I may skip this one.
Batwoman Vol. 2 - To Drown the World. Never got into this series.
Green Arrow Vol. 2 - Triple Threat.
Blue Beattle Vol. 2 - Blue Diamond. Never got into this either.
Justice League Vol. 2 - The Villain's Journey. If you don't read the single issues of this series this is worth a look.

Here is part of New 52 books I get every month. Green Lantern Corps, Action & Green Arrow #15. I'm still missing Green Lantern Corps #13 and the comic shop guy said he should have one for me in 2 weeks since there isn't much being released the day after Christmas. I haven't read any of these yet because I got behind from work and getting things ready for Christmas. I did read an Action one which is a series I'm behind on a few issues. Except for Green Lantern Corps, because I'm missing issue #13, I have been keeping up with most of the series I buy.
Action #12 - 8.
Justice League #14 - 10. A very good issue!! Great story mostly featuring Superman and Wonder Woman and Superman trying to show Wonder Woman why he helps people by taking her to Smallville. And they go as Superman and Wonder Woman! Very cool. There was also a part in the story that I didn't know where it started and come to find out it started in Action #12 which I read after JL #14! Let's just say Batman is one sneeky dude.
Here is a pic of some issue 15's.

This is the first 2 books of a 4 part story called 'Throne of Atlantis'. It's a crossover between the Justice League and Aquaman books. I don't normally just pick up single issues from other series but I wanted to read this whole story. It looks pretty good. Here is a pic of the issues.

Yeah, I'm enjoying this little series so far.  Still been liking the new Aquaman and JLA both.

Lots of The New 52 news to report including 6 cancellations and new annuals coming out I'll post a link. The biggest news I think is that all the Green Lantern titles will be getting new creative teams. Yes Geoff Johns is leaving Green Lantern. There are other titles with new teams already including Green Arrow, which I read, and I didn't care for it. Also some other ones that I read, Supergirl & Action, get new teams soon. I wanted to list the cancellations for you in case they are titles you read.
1. Fury of the Firestorm. An original New 52 book. I started with this but dropped it.
2. Savage Hawkman. Another original New 52 book. I never got into this one.
3. Ravagers. Newer title. I am getting the graphic novel of this from the library.
4. Deathstroke. If I remember correctly this was an original New 52 book also. Never read it though.
5. Sword of Sorcery. Newer title that i'm not surprised got cancelled.
6. Team 7. Don't know much about this book but I do know it was a pretty new title.

I decided to try and just post one pic of the months New 52 titles I collect. It includes issue #16 of the books including #17 of Green Arrow.

You didn't like the new version of "Green Arrow" with issue #17?  iFanboy and other comic places seem to really like it.  I picked it up over the weekend and still need to read it.  I tried Green Arrow when the new 52 started but didn't like it then.  I'm looking forward to seeing the new vision for the book.

I liked the beginning of the series I gave issue #1 a 9 rating and #2-#7 an 8 rating. After that it kinda went down hill. As far as #17 I didn't care for the art style even though I thought the cover was really good. And I couldn't get into the story very much. I rated it only a 5. I'll give issue 18 a try but I'm thinking of dropping this title.

I tend to prefer older, grumpy Oli like the older Green Arrow series.  But I'm hearing the new version of this book will have them trying to blend in some elements from the "Arrow" TV series.  I've always liked the character a lot so I'm going to give it another shot.

I like the old Ollie better too.
Check out the Green Arrow/Black Canary series from a few years back. Very good series.
I can see where they are putting in elements from the show which is fine but I just couldn't get into it. Even though its one of the books I keep up with reading every month I just don't think I'm going to stick with it. It's funny though because I do want to keep Action and I'm way behind on reading it.
The Green Arrow New 52 series was a big change from previous Arrow series with them even placing him in Seattle instead of Star City.
Rico, let me know what you think of the art in #17. As I sad in an earlier post I didn't care for it.

Way behind on my comic reading and I did drop a few titles. Mainly because I haven't kept up on them anyway and I could use the money for something else. I will continue to get the graphic novels of the new 52 at my library though. The last one I read was Catwoman - Vol. 2 - Dollhouse - 7. Not as good as the 1st one.

Been a while but I did have to drop a few titles and now I'm only getting Justice League, Superman, and Supergirl. I likes Green Lantern Corps but they did too many series that were tied in with other Lantern titles and it got a little confusing. Action was good too, and I thought a good drop time was Grant Morrison's last issue. May pick it back up with the graphic novels or just get them at the library. Plan on keeping these 3 titles along with the Trek comic and the ongoing Star Wars.

I haven't said much on this topic for a long time but the New 52 is coming to an end. There will be 24 new books and 24 ongoing. I'll post a link to the list.

I have kept up with Superman, Supergirl, Justice League and I have read the first few issues of Grayson. I stopped reading Action but have picked up back issues. Out of those books only Supergirl ended. After the Convergence event they will get back to the ongoing and new titles in June.

I've read Batman for a long time - way pre-new 52.  I read Justice League too and Batgirl as far as DC books go.  I've read Supergirl and Superman from time to time, but neither seems to keep me coming back these days.  I think I probably read more Marvel and Image books lately than DC.

Most of my books are DC but I do have a couple of Marvel with Star Wars being Marvel now and I started a new series called A-Force. My DC books I'll keep reading are Superman, Justice League and Arrow based on the show. I also have been picking up Sensation Comics featuring Wonder Woman which I like because it is one or more stories per issue so if you miss the next issue or don't read 4 other titles that are part of the story your ok. And on a final note I do like the old version of Superman better. There were 2 Superman Convergence books that were awesome. They featured Superman and him being married to Lois. Loved it!
