I have been listening to the Treks in Sci Fi Podcast since day one and i cannot remember if Rico has done any cast regarding the Alien's Movies. The first and second movies are Gems and i would love to hear Rico's take on these films..... i just recently watched the first one and WOW does that movie hold up. I heard one reviewer call it a haunted house in space..... what do all you wonderful people think?
Be well: Marko
You know thinking about it i dont recall there being a TSF on Aliens
I have suggested it a few times over the years as ALIEN is in my top favorite movies of all time. In fact I am so well versed in ALIEN I could do a whole podcast on it. But I won't because I can't but I would be up to a joint effort over Skype if anyone wants to step up!
If I had more time maybe, but as of right now kinda unlikely. Also I'm probably not the best to do it cause of my age, it doesn't have the same impact on me. Though I'd love to hear that podcast. I'd definitely have to contribute with an audio comment at least.
The first two "Alien" films have definitely been on my to-do podcast list for awhile now. I'm sure I'll get to them eventually. But I'm welcome for someone else to have a go at it if they want.
How about a "joint guest cast"? I'm sure there are a few out there who like the movies enough to do fill in for Rico! :)

After we get back from my big race and our vacation on Sept. 18th, my training is going to be much easier and I will have plenty of time to drive up to Anthem. I can bring Jamie and drop her off at the outlets. :)
I'd love you guys to tackle Alien or Aliens or both! Maybe October-ish?
I love it when a plan comes together :)
Getting excited about this, it's got to happen! ;)
I expect a duo pic of Al and Bryan shirtless to use for the podcast too! :)

Ah, yeah. Um, in Anthem, you see, they have a law against...um, shirtless men. Yeah, that's it. :)
Maybe a shirtless Bryan photo...trust me, you don't want to see a shirtless Al photo. Too many scars :)
How about mid-late October?
It is ON!!!!!! October would be great!
Coolio. I'll email you the address/directions/cell # and everything. We can hammer out a date to record in a bit...:)

The last release of the films prior to the Blu-Ray release is LOADED with great BTS stuff. I have watched them a few times over the years, they are awesome.
Awesome.. two of my favorite guys on one podcast together.. talking about one of the best sci/fi/horror films (Alien & Aliens) of all time.
this will be epic
Wow...no pressure on us now, huh Bryan? :)
Nah that's not pressure! Just remember that without pressure, a diamond will always remain a lump of carbon.
True Chris...very true! :)

It's a big topic, we may want to break it up into an entire ALIEN series podcasts!
Ass a side note..... i was wondering if anyone has watched the 1965 movie Planet of the Vampires. I saw this movie many times as a kid ...Saturday morning B sci fi, anyhow i noticed that there are parallels to the first Alien movie. They land on a stormy rocky world and come upon a ship which kinda looks like the one in Aliens ( steam-punk looking) Also they discover a rather huge Alien skeleton outside the craft just like Tom Skerritt did inside the alien craft in the 1978 Movie.

Like you, I've seen it a lot as a kid. Yes, it's very similar to Alien.

..heheh, Marko said ass... :)
No doubt Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon were influenced by a lot of things. Another interesting look at ALIEN would be to compare the book to the film. There are some interesting differences. Marko could do an audio segment!
OOOPS....... i did sorry, :)
Here's an interesting bit about O'Bannon's original story and the first 29 pages which sound very much like what you are suggesting, Marko.
"O'Bannon had written twenty-nine pages of a script entitled Memory comprising what would become the film's opening scenes: a crew of astronauts awaken to find that their voyage has been interrupted because they are receiving a signal from a mysterious planetoid. They investigate and their ship breaks down on the surface.[15][16] He did not yet, however, have a clear idea as to what the alien antagonist of the story would be.[14]"
Oh, here we go! Marko is spot on!
In writing the script, O'Bannon drew inspiration from many previous works of science fiction and horror. He later stated that "I didn't steal Alien from anybody. I stole it from everybody!"[19] The Thing from Another World (1951) inspired the idea of professional men being pursued by a deadly alien creature through a claustrophobic environment.[19] Forbidden Planet (1956) gave O'Bannon the idea of a ship being warned not to land, and then the crew being killed one by one by a mysterious creature when they defy the warning.[19] Planet of the Vampires (1965) contains a scene in which the heroes discover a giant alien skeleton; this influenced the Nostromo crew's discovery of the alien creature in the derelict spacecraft.[19] O'Bannon has also noted the influence of "Junkyard" (1953), a short story by Clifford D. Simak in which a crew lands on an asteroid and discovers a chamber full of eggs.[15] He has also cited as influences Strange Relations by Philip José Farmer (1960), which covers alien reproduction, and various EC Comics horror titles carrying stories in which monsters eat their way out of people.[15]
Hmm, awesome catch Marko. I'm thinking....YOU and Bryan do the episode!!
I have never done a podcast before........ yikes.
ok..... what do we have to do to make this happen, after all Rick already has a song for it!
I watched Aliens last night. Not as good as the first one, but kind of cool. I DVR'd it from the other day.
Rick ... i agree not as spooky or good as the first one, i am temted to buy it from Amazon on blu ray.
It's been a LONG time since I watched these. It's about due a rewatch.
My watch list just keeps getting longer!
Today is a good day to watch them both go for it!
No it's not I've got to be at work in 1.5 hours! Lol

The extended Cameron director cut is really good. Long, but good, builds the tension even more.
How much longer is it? Looks like i am buying it from Amazon.....

Gosh, maybe an extra 15min?it has the complete scene of Newts family getting face hugged, some additional scenes in Hadleys Hope with other colonists pre-attack, and more between Hikes and Ripley and their "relationship".
WOW....... I am buying it!
Yeah, there's Lot of good stuff!
