Terrible criminality, looting, arson and robbery going on all across London right now and spreading to other parts of the UK.
Homes and businesses being destroyed by mindless thugs and youths.
Disgusting.
I felt the same way when all the rioting and looting happened in this country in 1992. Hard to believe that it is happening in London. No idea that there were simmering resentments like that.
I'm still shocked that the police had guns

I haven't heard about this yet. Is there a reason behind it?

Yeah, Blackberry messenger combined with someone getting shot by the police.
Huh?!?! Blackberry messenger??? What just because something bad happens it makes other people want to do more bad things?? The human race makes me sad sometimes.
Yeah this reminds me of the LA Riots many years ago.. It's such a small group of unhappy people but they are doing so much damage
I just read of some 200 youths rioting in Birmingham. That is close to Medz if memory serves me.
A very unfortunate combination of events and circumstance: Poverty, lack of education, lack of employment opportunities, racial and or ethnic bigotries, too much idle time, and youth. All it needs is a spark to set it off.
Its moved to Birmingham as well now, just stupid mindless behaviour. It angers me so much and looking at facebook and twitter we innocent people are not standing for it. I'd call the army in spray them all with water and then gas them.
It's hard to see this unfold
It's a huge reminder of how mindless the younger people in this country are at the moment.
kids standing by burning cars laughing
and now there has just been a shooting :(
It's been taken over now by mostly youths destroying property and looting because they know the police are stretched.
Teenagers laughing and joking while they destroy people's livelihoods, jobs and homes.
They should send the army in to free up police to arrests.
....and stealing Big Macs!
I am 100% totally against the mindless stupidty of these idiots. But at the same time, at the back of my mind, I always think that until something like this kicks off, the Government are totally clueless (or deliberately turn a blind eye to) to the general unhappiness of the nation with the state the country is in.
I'm not justifying the rioting in anyway. Like I say, 100% against. I think it's just in my nature to try and think that some good may possibly come from it.....Even though I know it won't.
The government cant say who is involved either through fear of being classed as racist. Ridiculous, I'm not being funny but you only have to look at the TV to see who is involved. STOP BEING PRESCIOUS. I can't wait to see what David cameron is going to say, probably a load of old tosh as usual and start saying we should be tolerant. *shakes head*
I'ts kicked off I'm my town now
well said meds
They are burning down my library....... what the hell !

Thanks mate
I feel like giving them someone to get passed but that would just be stupid, I'm big and strong but I can't stop 100 odd hood rats
Just seen this on Robert Llews twitter page.
I'm sure many of you have seen it, but a tiny ray of hope among the chaos. Very brave woman. http://www.twitvid.com/4JTZH (http://www.twitvid.com/4JTZH)
Amazing!
Do we know if Mike is safe and well?

Mike is on holiday in France thankfully.
oh dear i had no idea this was going on.
any particular reason behind all of the riots? an injustice of some sort? i honestly can't imagine how something like that could happen without some reason behind it.
stay safe out there data.
Thank god!
I've never understood the connection between stealing a TV and making a political point.
Sounds so crazy over there. All you guys stay safe.
Just checking in to say hi! Northern France is quiet and peaceful. I just hope we have a home to come back to in a week or two. Wimbledon town centre has apparently been evacuated this afternoon according to my brother.
Haven't seen any TV news etc here. Trying to follow events on Twitter/5 live.
Apparently the only water cannon in the UK are all in Northern Ireland and the police are discussing plastic bullets? This is not the country I left on Saturday...
See what happens when you are away Mike? Time to call "International Rescue!"
There were small icidents last night in Nott'm, but judging by the police presence and the early closure of the market and shops in my local town centre, it looks like they are expecting the worse tonight.
Incidently, the first target last night? JD Sports! Chavs trying to pick up new trainers and joggy bottoms.
As for the cause. The starting point seems to be the shooting of a young black man by Police on Saturday. Which seems as good an excuse as any to burn a city to the ground and try and pick yourself up a new TV!
At least your riots aren't sparked by a hockey game.
Don't say that. It's Notts County (boo...hiss!!) Vs Nottingham Forest (Yay....huzzah!!!) in the football tonight (soccer)
I'm from Birmingham and the area that was affected is literally round the corner from my place of work. But I'm not ashamed to be from here. This is a mindless minority not the majority. 1 million people live in Birmingham not 200.
It has nothing to do with what happened in London. It's opportunists using twitter and blackberry to organise looting and violence. It's not racial it's not bigotry it's not due to the economic crisis. It's just a bunch of toerags who need locking up for a long time. We need to throw out the human rights act and the soft sentences and get tough. If there's no deterrent it will carry on.

Well said stonut. Saying that you're ashamed to be from anywhere because of a group of complete idiots is silly. Don't let this small group of jack-asses take your pride away at all. If you do, they win. Just my opinion for whatever it's worth.
It's the people interviewed on the news trying to justify the rioting that are p***ing me off!
Yes then they wheel out the community leaders. Do I know who my community leader is no!. So what makes the tv people think these "leaders" can get through to them. It's black White and Asian youths, so an Asian community leader will only get to one group.
It's pathetic, least we never had Boris with a broom in Birmingham.
To draw a parallel to a recent treksinscifi - it is as if these knuckle-headed yobs are celebrating 'Festival!' - where are the law-givers when you need them. Landru! Guide us!
It's kicking off again.
Manchester city centre a store on fire.
More incidents in Birmingham area, cars on fire....
I think it's going to be another long night.
It doesn't help that the social networks are full of idiots giving out false information, one of which was the evacuation of the shopping mall and transport centre my wife uses to get home. :(
So angry.
Yeah. Can hear the sirens in Nottingham.
Just think, a few buildings burnt down today would have been a few cities burned down a few hundred years ago

Okaaaayyyyyy...
That's what i don't understand. How does smashing in a shop front, stealing all the goods and then burning it to the ground act as a protest against the British Police.
It's just an excuse for chavs to gather in numbers and act like the animals they are.
Hadn't heard much about this. I don't catch the news often. To much stupid stuff. You all stay safe over there!
Just read of some fatalities in Birmingham.

Last night some people in a car mowed down a group of people who standing on the pavement protecting their property. Killed 3 people.
I despair.
The police have arrested people in conjunction with the murder, alas another man dies trying to put out a bin fire.
Thankfully all this madness has ceased for now. But as usual the courts are being soft.
