The new podcast is now up on this TOS and many other topics. Lots of listener audio comments and just a good time doing this one earlier today. Enjoy!

i saw the episode yesterday. for a second i thought that kirk was being controlled by some unknown alien being, turns out it was just him being obsessive.
nice podcast! whole bunch of redshirt deaths.
Yep - a good episode - except if you are a redshirt!
Wonderful podcast. Really great energy in this one. Very "up". Nice variety with the comments and music (you guys provided cool entries). The opening music was real big. Really nice. A very robust episode indeed. Thanks for using my audio clip
My favorite Kirk "do" was the TOS era. In the movies, his hair had a kind of plastic Tony Franciosa vibe.
Very nice new profile photo, Rico.

If they do a new thing with Shatner, they should make him obsessive-compulsive like Monk. He can right wrongs in the galaxy while keeping everything Federation neat.
Interesting how Ensign Garrovick was a kind of mirror of Kirk. Like he was looking at a younger version of himself and he got to be the role model that Captain Garrovick was to him. He got to resolve the issue for both of them.
That's one of the aspects of Star Trek that I've always loved. The connections to the character's pasts that help to define them. It was a brilliant move on the part of all series producers that they maintained a sense of connection and continuity.
Great show, a great TOS episode too.
Awesome Comic Con review by Kenny and another great parody song by Rick! :)
wait but the parody isn't on http://startrekparodies.com/ (http://startrekparodies.com/) ....
yes rico, it's parodies. :)
Great podcast about a great episode. Really looking forward to the Last Starfighter episode coming up. First thing that came to mind when I heard that was coming was to wonder if Rick Moyer is going to do a parody song set to 76 Trombones.

LOL!
Or "There's Trouble in River City"...
Sorry about the delay, here are the lyrics and you can download the song at http://www.startrekparodies.com (http://www.startrekparodies.com) now.
Smoke on the Planet
a parody of Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple
ON 3619.2
A survey on Argus V
The planet rich in tritanium
A substance harder than diamonds
The captain smells a sweetness
And orders the ensigns around
He says fire on the cloud red shirts
But then he finds them on the ground
Smoke on the Planet, a monster in disguise
Smoke on the Planet
Big white cloud
It sucked out the corpuscles
Left the ensigns dead cept Rizzo
The Captain says it's familiar
That the dr. Search records of the Farragut
Rizzo dies and Garrovick
His best buddy wants revenge
So they all beam down again to search
And the cloud attacks them again
Smoke on the Planet, monster in disguise
Big white cloud
Now Kirk he's getting obsessed
With the killing of this blip
The Cloud it goes to warp eight
Then turns back on their ship
McCoy and Spock they question
But in the end they trust ol Kirk
The blow it up with anti matter
It's the only thing that works
Smoke on the Planet, A monster in the sky
Another great parody song, Rick! :metallica:
That's funny. I was listening to the podcast again and just heard that. It's been in my brain for the past 20 minutes.
Looking foward to listening to this. Downloading this morning. And I thought Kenny would give us another run down on SDCC!
Great Podcast Rico, you covered obsession well, and you picked some great clips. Great comments by everyone as well, really made it a diverse show with a lot of different topics discussed. I am really liking Bryans in-depth prop reviews, as learning quite a bit.
"You kids get off my lawn!"
I couldn't resist. :)

Thanks Jeff! I have a doosey coming up hopefully in the next 2 months or so!
Great cast Rico I love this particular episode of TOS, in fact I watched it again after listening. Mind you I still have Ricks song going round in my head. Nice one Rick. I hope cons cross the pond soon.

Being as this is Treks in Sci-fi, shouldn't that be more like:
[Picard]
You kids get off my bridge!

I yield the floor to your much better suggestion....now, we should all work together to come up with the lyrics so Rick doesn't have to work as hard!

Hey, did you know that someone actually did a musical based on "The Last Starfighter"?

Don't know that it's a better idea. I was just trying to be funny. :)
One can very easily write:
"76 shots fired by the Death Blossom"
or:
"76 starfighters in the Great Beyond"
