Title: Dr. Who New Seasons
Post by: Hal2001 on July 07, 2011, 12:35:30 PM
I've been watching Dr. Who since it began it new production run.  I've been a big fan of this show from the beginning.   I don't have BBC America so I had not seen season's five and six featuring the new Doctor Matt Smith.  I liked David Tenant as the Doctor.  He was able to switch character modes from irrelevant to serious very quickly.  They have had some "fantastic" episodes.  "Blink" and "Family of Blood" come to mind.  The writing and storing telling are completely clever.  I always enjoy a story that has a twist and the end.  Dr. Who is good at this.  References in one episode can refer to other episodes that have aired or to upcoming episodes.  I find myself rewatching episodes to catch things I had missed.  This may be related to the British accents and fast delivery, but I enjoy them again.  I was apprehensive when David left and was replaced by Matt Smith.

However, my wife and I went to Europe to visit her relative.  I was surprised to find out they are big fans of the show.  They had recorded the entire season 6 and select season 5 episodes.  I watched them all.  Wow, the show is even better these two season's and Matt Smith is doing an excellent Dr.  The episode titled "Vincent and the Doctor" is one of the finest epodes I've seen.  Thanks to our British sci-fi fans for supporting this show.  Hopefully Syfy will pick up seasons 5 and 6 at some point.

Glad you are enjoying the Matt series, the DVD's are quite cheap (well if you wait a couple of months after release). More details on future Dr Who episodes can be found in the thread Doctor Who the Eleventh Doctor.

My 12 year old daughter - who was home sick with the flu- asks me if she can watch Dr. Who - since all her friends are into the show. So instead of going back to the Baker & Pertwee shows I grew up with, we start off with Eccleston (I cannot get him out of my mind as DCI David Bilborough in 'Cracker'). So far we have worked our way through 6 episodes - and will slowly work up to the current Dr. (we don't watch too much TV around our house - so it will be a slow catch-up!).
