Another one of my favorite TV series in the non-SF area is back on July 17th with season four of this incredible show. One of the best acted TV shows on these days and it will have you on the edge of your seats. Trailer below is kind of a recap of the past seasons, but not a lot is given away. If you like great drama, awesome acting, and perfect writing, get caught up on this series now!

Seconded.
I've been looking at favourite shows over the last decade and was really surprised at how much non-scifi had found it's way into my all important "unmissable" list.
Everything from The Wire to Dexter to this, Breaking Bad. And I think of all of them, Breaking Bad is probably the best...Very funny at times. Very serious at times.....and oh-so-dark in content. Love it.
Finally - tomorrow!!!
Breaking Bad Season 4 Official Trailer 2011 HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L37EyoxN5qg#ws)
Man, that was an awesome episode last night! So intense! Anyone else watching this?
Wow, that episode was not titled "Box Cutter" for no reason. That whole scene...balls to the wall tense! I go back and forth as to what's the best show sometimes, but when Breaking Bad is on it wins hands down.
It was amazing.....and I still love this show.
There is an on-line "Choose Your Own Adventure" style Graphic Novel game type thing starring Jessie which is kinda cool.
Takes a while to load though after adverts....but worth it. http://www.amctv.com/shows/breaking-bad/cost-of-doing-business (http://www.amctv.com/shows/breaking-bad/cost-of-doing-business)
Yep - this is simply one of the best TV shows on the air right now and has been for the past three seasons. The actors and intensity and drama are all just top notch. Here's a good article on episode one of this season. Don't click this link and read this if you don't want to be spoiled - because SPOILERS are ahead....

Both good news and bad news. One more season of "Breaking Bad" has been announced - but it will probably be the final season.
Life imitated art last week, when the crew and studio behind Breaking Bad wiggled out of a tough predicament by staging a gritty standoff. Except, instead of a chemistry-teacher-turned-meth-maker facing off against drug dealers, Mexican cartel members, a bitter wife, the DEA, and his own pride, it was Sony Television and the makers of Breaking Bad staring down the barrel of a gun wielded by AMC.
The two sides made their feud public after AMC requested a final, shortened season of six or eight episodes; Sony responded by shopping the series to rival cable networks, including FX. The result of the stalemate: Breaking Bad will get sixteen more episodes to wrap up its story after the conclusion of the current thirteen-episode fourth season, the network announced yesterday.
That doesn't mean Season 5 will definitely be Breaking Bad's last (though it certainly appears that way). There are no deals in place that dictate how the final sixteen episodes will be dispersed, which means it's possible they could be divided among two shorter seasons instead of becoming one super-sized season.
In the end, it's a victory for the series, which now has time to end on its own terms. Creator Vince Gilligan said in a statement: "It's a funny irony. I'd hate to know the date of my own last day on earth, but I'm delighted to know what Walter White's will be (episodically speaking). This is a great gift to me and to my wonderful writers. It's knowledge that will allow us to properly build our story to a satisfying conclusion. Now, if we don't manage to pull that off, we've got no one to blame but ourselves."
WOWOWOW! What a season and what a great season 4 finale! This show is just so darn good. One more season to go. I miss it already.
- The ending song was perfectly chosen too.

HOLY @#$%!
The scene with Gus at the nursing home is the coolest thing I have ever seen on TV. Nasty.
And the last shot....damn, Walt! What happened to that nice science teacher??
Whew! This show, along with a few episodes in the early seasons of Dexter, reaches levels of intensity I have never felt or experienced from television ever. Such an incredible finale, probably the best episode of a drama I have ever seen on TV. Just exactly perfect.
Really bummed about Gus, he was such a great character and it seemed like there was so much more to learn about him. I'd love to see some kind of prequel about his younger days, his experiences before he got involved with the cartel and more of his back story. He was so cool...even with half his face blown off he stops to straighten his tie...reminded me of how Spock pulled his uniform down when he stands up in the contaminated engine room at the end of WOK
Very much agree guys. ANYONE that enjoys great drama, perfect writing, and superb acting HAS to watch this series.
I actually think this would be a perfect place to end the whole series and I had to check on Wiki to see if I remembered another series having been commissioned.
Now, normally, I would be against trying to follow this kind of finale up. But I really do have faith in the writers and producers of this show and I'm 100% confident that they can follow it all up with as much tension and excitement. Walt certainly seems very different now than even half a dozen episodes back!!
I can't decide if I prefer this or dexter!!
I heard they're making a spin-off series about noxious gas called Breaking Wind :)

On August 14, 2011, AMC announced that Breaking Bad was renewed for a fifth and final season consisting of 16 episodes that may be split over two seasons.-wiki
I think the focus of the last 16 episodes may come down to...
1) Hank's obsession with Fring will continue, maybe focusing on the killing. What about Fring's computer recordings of the lab and all that?? Could lead to uncomfortable family gatherings. I really think that this final season may come down to Hank Vs Walt.
2) Jesse and that poisioning of the kid...can't imagine that won't come up again, and considering how dopey and shortsighted Walt can be, I bet that plant comes into play.
3) MIKE!! He is alive, and they have never shown why he is so loyal to Gus, and man, I wouldn't want to be on his bad side.
Pure speculation, but this show is so damn good, I'm gonna miss it till next summer.

Spoilers! Edit that post so our forumites don't have season 4 ruined when they get the DVDs (and they all should day of release)
I think those are all good guesses. There's definitely a huge power vacuum now that Gus and the cartel are gone...there's no way that Walt, with the bulk of his cash gone to Skyler's fling, is going to let someone else take over. His ego is too huge and he's in too deep. We definitely haven't seen the last of Mike. My guess is in season five, we see Mike and Jesse vs. Walt battling for control of the meth trade and by the end they are forced to work together again against some heretofore unseen new common enemy.
I think point 1 will definitely feature to some degree. Probably not as the main focus of the show. Probably running alongside Walt's relationships with the rest of the family. In partucular, Skylar.
Not so sure about the second point. We'll either get everything come up including what happened to Jessie's ex girlfriend, or it'll just be allowed to blow over.
Point 3 I believe is on the ball. Mike will definitely feature to some degree.....And which way will Jessie go? He's been through a lot with Walt....but he's also been through some stuff with Mike. And Mike hasn't done half the stuff behind Jessie's back as Walt has. Im agine Jessie's reaction if and when he finds out about some of the stuff Walt did. He'll want him more dead than he did Gus!! I think this is where the show is headed....maybe with Walt starting to act a bit more like the new Gus.
For me, the show started off all about Walt, but as it's played out, I think it is more to do with Jessie. I think he is the main focus of this drama(I don't want to use the word hero)
Picked as one of the best shows of 2011 (and the #1 series by EW). I couldn't agree more!

And yet another show I am so latte to the party but loving! Jamie and I are watching Season 2 on Netflix streaming and we both love it!
So glad you're on the bandwagon Bryan! This show deserves every bit of the praise it's been getting the past few years. Don't read the spoilers! The writing is so good you'll want to enjoy every minute fresh and unspoiled.
Indeed. One of my favorite shows of the past couple of years. Amazing writing and acting.
I'm not sure what it is with this show, Fran and I watched most of season 1 and it just doesn't do it for us. Maybe I'll have to give it another try.
It also feels very familiar to us being set in Albuquerque, at least the south west scenery. Albuquerque is kind of nasty. I am very suprised Jamie likes it, to be honets. Gives me hope I can still get her to watch The Walking Dead at some point.

I had the same thing happen to me with Walking Dead. Fran usually hates shows like that (and she makes fun of me when IO say it's good we're marathon training for when the zombies come). But I showed her the first episode and she loves it more then I do!
It's coming...yes! The consequences of last season's finale will be very interesting to see unfold.
Chris did you hear they are going to break up the coming season in two parts? And we won't get the last half until next summer!!!!
I KNOW! 8 this year and 8 next...I don't mind shorter seasons, the quality is usually much tighter, but these waits are rough. Still, nothing like what the Sopranos used to do to me back in the day. And being the last 16 means that the stakes are so high for all he characters...I'm sure it's going to be very tense...something this show excels in...making me poop my pants!
Any idea when Season 4 will be available on Netflix?
Well, the DVDs some out tomorrow, so I'm not sure. Possibly right before the season starts.
