And here's a cool video of some fans that just watched all the films and ranked them too. Great stuff!
TREKATHON: Star Trek Movie Marathon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8g2zJqUlEg#ws)
OMV! GENERATIONS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME! 6.57?! ok first contact was pretty good. insurrection at the bottom? dang. i thought it was decent.
Besides First Contact, the TNG movies did not fare very well in these folks rankings.
TWOK ad First Contact are THAT good. In fact in general, I agree with their rankings.
What I was a little surprised by was how high they ranked the Abrams film. I expected them to rank it up there, but it got pretty big numbers. Of course I like the film a lot too, but I just was impressed by how much they liked it as well.
Well, I mean the biggest competition to the new STAR TREK is STAR TREK IV. Other than that, what, Generations or Undiscovered Country? Can't hold the same level of thrill to the JJ film.
If you mean in terms of general public appeal, I would agree. However, I'm guessing that people that sit down to watch all 11 Trek films in a row are pretty much definitely Trekkies. So, I was just a bit surprised at the rating from that type of group.
No, I will would still contend it was that good regardless. I don't think hard core Trek fans dismissed it, although they, myself included, may have wanted to.
We have been watching the marathon. Thanks Rico for letting us know.

I still think you are missing my point Bryan. All I was saying is I think the general public would rate the 2009 film higher on average than a long time Trekkie would. Maybe not by a lot more, but some. You all know I really enjoyed the Abrams movie, but again it just surprised me a little how much this group did.
Was watching some of this yesterday during yard work breaks and then the wife and I started to watch IV from the beginning. We got tired of the commercials so we put in the dvd. We noticed a couple parts that thet deleted on tv but that is to be expected. I'll probably catch some more of it today because it is nice to see them in HD.
Your all so spoiled over there, getting to watch all this great scifi lol
Watched #6 last night. Kept it on the tv though because of the HD. Love the part at the end when Kirk says "Fire". Don't laugh but that part gives me goosebumbs when ever I see it!

I saw a little of it too. For some reason I tuned in when Kirk is fighting that big guy and kicks him in his "knee." ;)
lol. That is a funny part. If I was that guy I would cover it up better.
I finally watched that rankings video clip and I cant believe Insurrection was on the bottom. I really enjoyed that movie!
First of all.. fantastic video.. great idea.. very well done. If I was there I would have skewed some of those ratings.. I have never understood why Trekkies dislike Insurrection so much.. oh well everyone has their opinions. If I had to rank them I'd say
Star Trek 1 (Motion Picture) - 5
Star Trek 2 (Wraith of Kahn) - 8
Star Trek 3 (Search for Spock) - 6
Star Trek 4 (Voyage Home) - 9
Star Trek 5 (The Final Frontier) - 5
Star Trek 6 (Undiscovered Country) - 8
Star Trek 7 (Generations) - 7
Star Trek 8 (First Contact) - 10
Star Trek 9 (Insurrection) - 7
Star Trek 10 (Nemesis) - 7
Star Trek 11 (Star Trek) - 8
I watched TWOK last night, so great, I still tear up when Spock dies and Kirk gives his eulogy. And Ricardo is just SO GOOD.

...HUMAN
my DVR for sure will be packed by the time this marathon is done. watching #5 now. at the part where Dr. McCoy sees his "dad".
i agree with Sheldon. Movie 1 is loads worse than movie 5.
The Big Bang Theory - Star Trek (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqQmfCOGmFU#noexternalembed-ws)
the thing about Movie one is you get to drool on the elongated fly past of the Enterprise.
true, true. you know i think that the only reason i was never fond of nemesis was the ending. maybe the rest of the movie was quite good.
but data singing, that was cute.
i'm still really partial to movie 4 though. it's just a stroll through the park compared to the serious tone of the previous movies. ;D
