Title: Temple Grandin
Post by: Zarabeth32 on April 28, 2011, 01:47:33 PM
Just watched Temple Grandin. It was a great movie about a real life woman living with autism. When I used to work at Crotched Mountain, we listened to her give a talk via video conference. It was really neat. The movie is amazing. Claire Danes did a wonderful job to capture the essence of Temple.

For people who don't know who Temple Grandin is:

She is a woman who has been living with autism. She has her doctorate and she has helped the cattle industry tremendously by designing and creating more humane ways of slaughtering cattle.

In the movie:

She states that she loves Star Trek and that her favorite character is Mr. Spock. She really loves the show "Man from U.N.C.L.E"

I loved this movie due to having worked with students with special needs.

I definitely recommend this movie for anyone who is interested in learning more about Autism from first hand experience.

I heard her interviewed by Terri Gross on NPR a few years back.
