This thing is pretty darn awesome. And for just $1500, you can have one too. Has a working Dradis, flickering engine lights, and much more. There are different versions or editions available. I'm kind of partial to the Starbuck version (of course).
# Starbuck Edition. Signed by Katee Sackoff, who took on the role of Captain Kara Thrace, this more modern Viper sports a digital control panel that helped guide Starbuck on countless missions. Faint recon images of the Eye of Jupiter will occasionally flash on this Viper's (and only this Viper's) DRADIS readout. Battle ready, this model has a weathered finish and Starbuck's call sign on the sides of the cockpit (only available on the Starbuck Edition). Customization is not an option for this updated version.
The Starbuck Edition comes complete with a 1:1 scale screen-accurate replica of the bloody dog tag found in the remains of her wrecked Viper on Earth, complete with her wedding ring.

It sure frakking is sweet!

And it's Katee approved too! I might have to find a way to do this. :wub
It's AWESOME.. but if I can't afford the Serenity ship there is no way I can afford this Viper.
I actually really like that B&W picture of the BSG crew behind Katee
Wow, I am very impressed with the size. In the still pics and even the first part of the video I figured it was less then 12" but that sucker is pushing 18". That makes the price a bit more inline, but QMx stuff is super pricey and I think if this is $1500 the speculation of an Enterprise, if they ever made one, being north of $2500 would have been likely.
Dimensions on the website page Bryan. It is 18" of pure frakking awesome!
Ship Dimensions: 18" L x 10.5" W x 7" H
Display Base: 22" L x 13.5" W
Remote Control: Included.
Pro Prop Crate: Each Viper Mark II is shipped in special protective cushioning foam and stored in a hand-built wooden apple crate, just like what the pros use to safeguard their props.
It look studio scale in that size even though I don't know if they ever made a studio scale model. Frakin' sweet indeed. :thumbsup
That's amazing!
I showed Fran the price and she laughed at me :)
That looks really nice, but have to agree, the price is really expensive. Not sure why the Fomer MR and efx can put out models for less, but QMX is much more. I guess maybe the run on these ships will be less as BSG is not as popular in the collector market at Star Wars or Star Trek.
But have to say the detailing and workmanship is great, maybe that is the reason for the higher cost. I guess nice to look at the pictures and dream for me, and congrats to anyone who has the ability to get this.
I'm sure the electronics added a lot to the price. They could probably put out a static model for half or less that price. I still kick myself daily for not getting the MR Millennium Falcon at the time years ago and that was about $2000. Anyway, this is still quite tempting to me.
That Flacon was awesome.
I'm still very tempted by this piece. Hmm,.....
It's super cool...BUT you could build one yourself that would be almost as good. I think it's overpriced, the electronic Dradis is cool but that's it besides the engines. Look at the MR Enterprise, not those are quality electronics in a model.
Buy this kit and toss one of the maniacs on the RPF a few Benjamins to do the build with the engine lights.

I don't really disagree Bryan, but certain collectibles just have that something "extra" that's hard to quantify. The scale of the QMx Viper is nice and big which helps. It's a limited piece, basically a work of art. I doubt I'll spring for it really, but it's still tempting. Now, if QMx ever did the new movie Enterprise. Or if someone does a new Falcon, I don't think I could resist. ;)
I think if I ever got something like that Viper and paid $1500, I would probably be obsessing over every little detail and looking for any little flaw. Probably drive myself crazy in the end, so probably a good thing I will never have the money for something like it ;D
Yeah, the scale is really great on the Viper. MR's Falcon and Enterprise really are the best ship models ever.
Years ago I used to buy a lot more action figures and lower cost items. But they started to just fill up boxes, so I now buy fewer, bigger items that are a bit more special. Plus I can display them easier than say 100 action figures. Anyway, I'm excited to hear about the impressions of this Viper once people start getting them.
