Sigh... another remake, and in glorious 3D! ;)
Hey it might be good and will withold judgement.
Is it me or do Jason's erm... pecks look wrong in that photo? Lol
I think that this will be head and shoulders above the first movie if they stick to the source material. Arnold's lack of speaking made Conan seem far poorer than he is portrayed in the books.
True, wasn't saying the first movie was a masterpiece and the character does deserve a decent movie. Just seems to be a fashion for remakes at the minute.
Never read the books but I was a fan of the comic books.
I have read some Conan novels which I have about 5. They are not written by Howard though. And some of the comics I read a long time ago and I enjoyed them. I did like the Arnold movies, they were not great but fun to watch. I liked Jason in Stargate: Atlantis so I'm looking foward to seeing him in another project.
Definately a good choice for Conan. Jason can pull it off.
Another 3D movie?
Looks a bit like one of those parody films lol. Will keep an eye on eye out for this.
I'm kind of excited for this. While I did enjoy the first one with Arnold quite a bit, it would be nice to have another run of Conan movies to see.

Another 3D movie?
You find that surprising? Very big action movie released in the forseable future will be released in both 2D and 3D.
Teaser Trailer... not much given away.

Beat me to this one Kenny. Was about to post it - lol!
Looks interesting. I was hoping for some of the original movie music in it though.
That was cool!
First look at Stephen Lang as the villain, Khalar Zym.
Interesting, the first movie was downright creepy and just plain odd.

It was very a much a product of the time it was made! Another good example of an "epic" tale movie that was wierd beyond belief was "Excalibur".

Don't get me wrong, Conan is one of my guilty pleasures, I got Fran to watch it and she was less then impressed. Isn't Patrick Stewart in Excalibur?
Yep, he was, that and DUNE, another good example of wacky early '80 films!
I recently watched the Original, as I got the two movies on a DVD combo pack for really cheap. I keep thinking I have not seen it or just parts, but when I watched it recently, realized I have seen it in it's entirety before. I can't recall if I have seen the second movie completely, but that is in the queue for this weekend.
Looking forward to this new one, should be fun.
Music by Basil Pouledoris - a not fully appreciated composer! Listening to it now, ahh, pleasure.

New trailer. Not quite sure about this one yet.

Not even sure Real 3D, whatever that is can save this. My thing is I can't get beyond the guy playing Conan. As odd and campy as the original, Arnold left such an indelible impression, and an impressive one, of the character, this dude is no Conan.

I am leaning towards this opinion. For me, not having read the books or comics ever, Arnold as Conan is so indelibly burned into my mind as THE Conan, I can't imagine any other actor supplanting him. For new generations of viewers though I'm glad to see another fantasy genre flick with the potential to become a franchise get some love. For me, this reminds me too much of the recent Clash of the Titans remake: unneccessary to supplant the greatness of the original.

I see him on Game of Thrones and have the opposite reaction. My mind goes "Yeah ... he can be Conan". I'll also say that his acting skills are better going into the film than Arnold's were.

No doubt, it was Arnold physical presence which is so memorable.
Huh, which character is he on GoT?

Having seen both Clashes back to back now, I find myself preferring the newer one. I don't know why that is, but I also feel the same about the new Tron. Maybe I've found a way to divorce myself from the nostalgia and compare it on the other levels.
Hell, I'd love to see a remake of Krull and Dragonslayer too. I'd love to see how they could pull those off with the way cinematography and FX have changed.

He's Khal Drogo, Dany's husband.
That makes sense Chris, I haven't seen the original Clash in a long time and probably my memory of it is kind of rosy compared to the reality of it. Same with Conan. I loved them both so much as a kid though. Tron was a sequel remember, not a remake, that makes a big difference.
..and the original TRON was a bit of a dud story and action wise.

Ah of course. Can't wait to see those warriors in combat more on that show...I relate them to the Klingons for some reason.
New poster just came out.
Sweet poster, thanks.
I loved Arnold as Conan, but this guy LOOKS the part!
I think he'll do a great job. I really liked him in Stargate Atlantis.
He was great on Atlantis with the brute force, and I can see him playing the part of Conan really well.
New TV spot.

he was pretty good in The Game of Thrones...
Looking forward to this one. Conan has lots of stuff that is unexplored, plenty of material for a fresh reboot.
After that little trailer, the wife will not be seeing this one with me.

Wow that is bloody! Looks interesting but I don't think the music fits in very well. I hope it's just for the trailer.
Very good trailer and as I am reading the complete chronicles at the moment, the images are fresh in my head from the book. Done well and with Conan explored properly this can be an awesome franchise.
I have to say that I didn't care for the sound track on the trailer.
New poster - pretty cool looking!
Yep.. looks like a Conan poster.. very cool.
Yeah, this looks pretty good.
Hope to catch this over the weekend but may be going solo. Wife not interested in this one. I think Jason will make a great Conan!
I might try to go this weekend too. Looks like fun!
Became ill this last weekend so I never got to go see this movie. Did read up on it a little bit so I may just wait to watch it later. Also it didn't fair to good at the box office either.
I'm still going to try and go this week sometime. Last weekend just was too busy for me. Maybe get out Thursday after work.
So, I tried to go to see this today after work but the only showtime until like 9pm tonight was in 3D so I skipped it - for now. Kind of bummed me out. But I'm not paying 3D prices - especially for this movie.
You know what's funny is I was listening to the Now Playing podcast today and they reviewed the new Fright Night movie and said that 3D was pretty good. Can't speak to Conan, but if I was at the theater I would just see the 3D and not worry about the few bucks.
Yeah, I know you would Bryan. But I have my anti-3D reputation to uphold! :)

Ditto! Gas on the return trip probably costs more than the 3D

The theater is right on my way home between work and my house, so it's not really out of the way at all. And again, it wasn't just the extra $2.50 they wanted. Maybe you guys should go see "Conan" in 3D and send in an audio comment for the podcast. :)

I wish it was an extra $2.50. It's an extra $5.00 in my neck of the woods.
I don't know, I'm not too interested in this one otherwise I would. What else is coming out this year in natively filmed 3D?
I've posted this link before:
http://www.3dmovielist.com/list.html (http://www.3dmovielist.com/list.html)
Not much Native 3D. How about "Puss in Boots?" :)
Saw Conan yesterday. The action was great , the dialogue was ok but I think for a Conan film it suffered from trying to tell to much in one go. A simple action packed story would have worked better.
Was just listening to the first part of the podcast and I thought you said Conan was up converted. Wasn't it filmed in 3D?

No Bryan, the new Conan film is fake or converted 3D. Don't confuse the company trademark "Real 3D" with actual filmed in 3D with 3D cameras.

I see, ok, I have been confused about that. :confused
I still would have paid the extra bucks to see it if I was already there but I'm also not a fan of the upconvert stuff.
Ok, finally got to see this after work today and enjoyed it in non-3D! Thanks goodness the 3D showings of it have ended and now it's only in the theater I go to in "normal-D." Anyway, I thought it had a tight story, some really good action pieces and Jason Mamoa was pretty good as Conan. Although I thought a few times he seemed more ruthless in the "Game of Thrones" series as Drago than in this movie. That's possibly due to him not really speaking much in the "Game of Thrones." He moves well and could handle a sword, but did seem a bit small for Conan. I mean, he's a big guy, just not quite a muscle bound as Arnie was in the original film from back in the 80's. Anyway, still worth my $5. I thought.
