Well, for those of you disappointed with Syfy's distancing themselves from Sci-Fi, Science has taken up the gauntlet.
Firefly will be running on the Science Channel starting in March.
I don't know what this means in the long run, but I think it's good that some good Sci-Fi has found a home where Sci-Geeks turn.
The Science channel?? Uhh, does anyone get that?

This might help. I don't know who your provider is and I get most channels, so I take for granted that I get Science
'Firefly' returning to cable; Fillion says he'd play Mal again -- EXCLUSIVE
by James Hibberd
Categories: Television, TV Biz
The Science Channel has acquired the rights to the cult-hit and will air the series in its short-lived entirety, plus some new extras. Science Channel will wrap each episode with interstitial segments starring renowned physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, who will discuss the theoretical science behind the show's sci-fi concepts.
According to Firefly studio 20th Century Fox, this will mark the first time Firefly has aired on a fully distributed basic cable channel since 2008, when it ran on USA Network.
In honor of this occasion, star Nathan Fillion took a brief break from shooting ABC's Castle today to jump on the phone and answer five Firefly questions — including whether he'd ever reprise the role of Captain Mal again. That interview and more details about Science Channel's Firefly plans below:
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What was the part about playing the character?
NATHAN FILLION: It was my favorite job ever. What wasn't great about it? I got to wear a low-slung holster. I got to ride horses. I got to have a spaceship. I got to act mean and curmudgeonly. [Creator Joss Whedon] is really good at kicking characters in the nuts so the other characters would have laughs at my expense and that was great too.
If Castle had its series finale tomorrow and Fox said to you and Joss: "We screwed up, let's try doing Firefly again." Would you do it?
Yes. Yes. I would examine very closely Fox's reasoning — I'm a little gun-shy. If I got $300 million from the California Lottery, the first thing I would do is buy the rights to Firefly, make it own my own, and distribute it on the Internet.
What's the most common thing Firefly fans say to you?
No. 1, "Is there going to be more?" No. 2, "Why was it canceled?"
Why do you think the show has had such an enduring appeal?
It's a great question. We're the most story-literate society the world has ever seen. What Joss tends to do is twist story conventions into reality. Whereas the story goes like this, real life goes like this, and that's what Joss has mastered.
Do you ever watch the show nowadays or is that just weird?
It's not weird. I haven't watched it in a long, long time and I would like to revisit it.
Firefly premieres on Science Channel on March 6 at 8 p.m., with the two hour pilot, followed by the first episode at 10 p.m. Following that, Firefly episodes will air every Sunday — and, yes, in their original intended order and upgraded to high definition.
HD Baby!
Nathan Fillion has said many times that he loved the part and really was depressed when the show was canceled. I love his comment about winning the lottery and buying the rights and then putting new episodes out over the internet. That's the future baby!
Have there been any decent Firefly fan made productions like we've seen with the many high quality Star Trek fan made shows?
I believe I get the Science channel with my digital package not standard def. I believe all the digitals I have are in HD as well. I have my sister in laws Firefly DVD's but It would be interesting to hear the other stuff they want to do with it. Firefly was a great show cut way to short!

I know they have a showing of it tonight in town here at Radcon and having a Q&A, but I don't currently have the time or money to go see it. Otherwise I would probably be there.

That was a great video! Thanks for the link!
Browncoats:Redemption is actually quite good, especially considering what they had to work with (virtually nothing). Also they got some notable cameos in there, which is a nice touch. It fits nicely within the 'verse.
Not withstanding the HNBF fiasco, at the very least the dearth of mainstream media attention to Firefly in the last few weeks has been awesome. The latest entry, this "re-review" from EW's Ken Tucker of the reshowing of the series on Science Channel.
'Firefly' came back: This is the role Nathan Fillion was born to play: http://watching-tv.ew.com/2011/03/07/firefly-nathan-fillion-joss-whedon/ (http://watching-tv.ew.com/2011/03/07/firefly-nathan-fillion-joss-whedon/)
Did anybody else watch this live on Science Channel last Sunday? It was pretty cool for the first time in HD for me. Though I know every line of the show it was pretty cool to watch it live as if it were airing like a brand new show. To bad it's still cancelled. :(
i like firefly :)
i watched 1 episode and i was out in the yard having a water balloon fight with my neighbors. we took sides and the war lasted for 2 whole hours.
then we made a peace treaty ;) it worked out well!
SHINY!! Firefly on BluRay for only $23.49 (74% off) already own it on DVD but can't pass up the deal. http://ow.ly/4TU6Q (http://ow.ly/4TU6Q)
That's a great deal. I have seen it drop in price at times there before. But this time I need to snag it - and "Serenity" too (which is only $9.99 on Blu-Ray). Thanks for the heads up Kenny!
Yeah Serenity was my very first Bluray purchased with my player. Glad you picked them up.
That's it, I guess it's time to buy a BluRay player. I'm travelling to OH next week and will keep an eye open for one at Hamvention.
Hey, Pyroville. Enjoy your visit to the Buckeye State!
I always do. I haven't been since 2007 though. I've always traveled there via motorhome in years past with a bunch of my ham buddies. This year I'm going in the Malibu with my wife and youngest child. This could get interesting.
i've set up my DVR to record firefly and just finished watching "Ariel"
great episode,
the whole betrayal thing was really exiting! the blood coming out their eyes was a little gross though.
http://riptapparel.com/ (http://riptapparel.com/) has a pretty cool Firefly themed t-shirt on sale today (one day only 2 Feb 2012).

I just ordered mine.
Pyro, that's AWESOME! And shiny@@
U
I check Ript daily. I have a hard time passing up some of the shirts, but if I didn't, it might start cutting in to my beer budget. Balance in all things....
Yeah not one of my favorites.. I passed on that one.. not a big fan of skulls on my shirts. But I but at least one shirt from Tee Fury or Ript or Shirt woot a week.. if it's LOTR, Harry Potter, Firefly, Star Wars or Star Trek themed it's hard to resist.
I gravitate to the Firefly, Doctor Who, and Trek shirts myself. I passed on the Top Gun/Star Wars shirt the other day and kind of regret that now.
