Few stories are not easily predictable since most use the same "safe" canned formula fed to us by the network.
This one is unusual even for Enterprise, (Not your father's Trek).
"Cogenitor" is an over looked episode from season two - I didn't like it the first time viewed.
Dark and thought provoking in a manner that goes beyond standard TV fare.
For the brave few fans of the show, this is a must see.
And that's not all - it is very gratifying to see Andreas Katsulas guests as the Captain of an alien ship!
He got a lot of face time - something rare to see indeed.
