A pop culture blog called Between the Pages has a link up to an online copy of Roddenberry's initial outline for the series, dated March 11, 1964.

The description of the Captain's Yeoman pretty much describes Grace Lee Whitney from where I sit.

That's a pretty interesting pitch.

I recognize a few outlines from "Other story springboards..."as episodes from TOS:

Perfect world - The Return of the Archons

The Man Trap - Shore Leave

Camelot Revisited - Patterns of Force

100 A.B. - Miri

Kentucky, Kentucky - The Omega Glory

Torx - Operation Annihilate

I'm thinking the others may have been used in the subsequent series.
