Post by: Rico on January 23, 2011, 09:51:34 AM
The new podcast is now up.  Had fun watching this episode again and commenting.  Some good audio from you guys too including a special new Rick Moyer tune!  Show came together pretty smoothly this week.  Enjoy the cast and thanks to those that sent in audio.

That was a lot of fun Rico, Andrew and I listened on the way home from my parents house.

you can download the new song at the NEW parody site.  http://www.startrekparodies.com (http://www.startrekparodies.com)

Here is the song lyrics:

When Data was linked up by Geordie
A parody of Charlie Daniel's "The devil went down to Georgia"
Lyrics by Rick Moyer, sung by Rick Moyer

When Data was linked up by Geordie they were looking for a back up live
He would be used, neural network fused a fancy space hard drive
When Worf barges in to the captains room and tries to make work a lot
And the captain put his flute on down and said Worf let me tell you what:
It's time for a vacation, I know you need one too
So stop your work, quit being a jerk, boy   don't make me order you
Now you work hard like a warrior boy, but you live with someone else too
I'll bet a fella not old, against your code, wants to spend time with you

The boy said, I've got it all planned out, with Barklay it might be a wreck
Let's see who we arrest in the Ancient West on the Enterprises  Holodeck

Data link your neural net and Geordie tell Picard
The system has been overloaded Data's speaking bizarre
And if we turn the holdeck off, before the stories done
But then we lose the Father and the son....

Sheriff Worf got his first case and said "your coming with me you know"
And Eli knew what he was gonna do said "better let me go"
He smirked at them in his jail cell and said with an evil hiss
My Pa will be joined by a band of thugs and they'll all  sound something like this

In the local saloon Senior Frank he said, Sheriff give me back my son
Worf says no, but where'd his deputy go? The kidnap has been done

Problem in the core, of the main machine
trouble in the holodeck sub routine
Data's showin up as the characters too
Can we fix the program, what do we do?

Counselor Darango helps Sheriff Worf make a little trade
Meeting in the street, it was really neat he wasn't even afraid
Turning on his shield he saves the day and says' never come back now get"
Miss Annie  hugs Worf and the Enterprise flies off into the sunset.

Problem in the core, of the main machine
trouble in the holodeck sub routine
Data's showin up as the characters too
Can we fix the program, what do we do

Well I did :)

The other thing they avoided this time around was having the whole holodeck situation putting the 'mission of the day' at risk as I think we've often seen before. There was a nice, almost throwaway, line at the end stating that they made their rendezvous and that was the end of it.

A good episode.

Awesome episode. Loved the song! I listened to the podcast when I had to shovel my way in on Tuesday night.

Hope everyone is having some reprieve from the snowy weather. It's sunny in Laconia where I am.

Hi all to the forum.  I have just finished listening to the podcast.  Great podcast Rico.  I remember when the episode first shown on TV, I saw it i parts but latter got to see the complet episode.   I think  the western episodes are an homage to Gene Roddenberry  since he also worked on westerns and trek was billed as wagon train to the stars.  loved moyers777 music parody, very unbelievable, who would have thought.  lol.  I will listen to my next podcast when I can.  take care all

yes! i had just been rescued from some other ship (just like in hero worship) and then we had these things called friday sing night, meaning every friday we would have some people come up to sing a song. i was chosen, and it was the friday when data was linked up by geordie! (i really don't know if it really was a friday, but in my dream it was.) the everyone started singing along and it was really fun :).

Sounds like Karoke Night!   I have never done that but I have seen other drunken fools get up there and have a great time.
