Well, it looks like this is finally a go!
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that NBC has picked up David E. Kelley's new "Wonder Woman" pilot after all! The network was the final one to pass on the show over a week ago, but that was before the new regime headed by chairman Robert Greenblatt was officially in place in light of the impending Comcast takeover. The magazine reports:
One factor that seemed to have sunk the Wonder Woman project the first time around was the price of rebooting the series, with the studio requiring a rich license fee to bring the iconic character back to life. But then, NBC has been down this road before: It rebooted Bionic Woman. Kelley's take incorporated the superhero's signature lasso, cuffs, and plane in the script, and insiders said it was a serious, non-campy take on the DC Comics character.
Now the big question is who should play Wonder Woman?
I have only one choice for Wonder Woman, and that's Bridget Regan. She was Kahlan on "Legend of the Seeker." She has the perfect look for the part, can do action and is a good actress. Really, it will be a shame if they don't even consider her.

She would make a good Wonder Woman.
She looks like she knows how to use a golden lariat.
Though Bridget Regan would be awesome as Wonder Woman. I've always thought that Sarah Lancaster (Elle from Chuck) would be great for the role.
Looks like some fans of Bridget out there have already taken up the cause. Found this picture too.

Looking forward to this.. I think Bridget would be great.. there's been a huge push for her online the past few months when David took the pilot to WB (and they declined). I would like them to mix things up and go with Gina Torres (Zoe from Firefly) as Wonder Woman, back when Joss was writing this Wonder Woman movie script I thought she would be perfect for the role.
Definitely love to see Joss writing the show. He'd make it amazing, and thinking about it Gina Torres would be pretty awesome for the role. I really just hope the network doesn't just go and screw it up.
I like Gina a lot, but I think she might be a bit too old for the part. Still like Bridget for it, but we'll see what happens. I'm not even sure a Wonder Woman TV series can be a success on TV these days. Especially a serious, non-campy version.
Is there a non-campy way to do this?
I know nothing of the comics, just the 'old' TV series and I can't imagine a BSG type 'gritty' remake actually working (and I don't want to see the campy version).
The comics are quite serious. In fact, Wonder Woman has even killed when she had to in the comics. I think it can be done in a serious way, but I'm not sure how well it will do.
Well if they do bring Wonder Woman back to TV it probably would be more like Smallville and appeal to teenage hormonally driven angst.
Kevin
I hope they keep this on a more serious side. And Sarah Lancaster is an interesting choice but I hope she stays busy with her Chuck gig. They have her as Diana Prince in the newer series of graphic novels that I have been reading. Was that the case in the older series???
Rumor out there about a possible director for the pilot....
Following the news late last week that NBC has picked up David E. Kelley's "Wonder Woman" pilot comes word, via TV Line that the network may already have a name lined up to take on the pilot: Charlie's Angels and Terminator: Salvation director McG.
Outside his name, details are few and, indeed, reports are still unconfirmed, though McG's credits (primarily the two Charlie's Angels films) showcase a both an ability to blend television and cinema-scale narrative as well as a bankable use of strong female protagonists.
Kelley, who is in charge of developing the pilot, is best known for creating series like "Ally McBeal," "Chicago Hope" and, most recently, "Boston Legal." He has also drafted screenplays for films like Lake Placid and Mystery, Alaska.

I still want Bridget to play Wonder Woman.
Scoop: TV's New Wonder Woman Is Friday Night Lights' Adrianne Palicki
by Matt Webb Mitovich and Nellie Andreeva
Here's a piece of casting news that can only — especially given the situation — be described as super: Friday Night Lights beauty Adrianne Palicki has been tapped to star as Wonder Woman in the much-talked about pilot for NBC, TVLine has learned.
Executive-produced and penned by veteran small-screen auteur David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal), TV's new Wonder Woman would actually have Palicki playing no less than three "roles":
• The titular crimefighter, "reinvented" here as an L.A.-based vigilante
• Alter ego No. 1: Diana Themyscira, a mega-billionaire CEO
• Alter ego No. 2: Diana's "plain Jane" assistant, Diana Prince. (Good luck with that one, makeup and wardrobe!)
Other key players to be cast for Wonder Woman include Steve Trevor (now a lawyer for the Justice Department and a onetime paramour of Diana T.'s); Themyscira Industries' press secretary, Mindy; and Veronica Cale, an eeeevil scientist poised to be WW's primary adversary.
But back to Palicki: In addition to of course her run as Tyra on the acclaimed Friday Night Lights, this past fall she was one of two female leads on Fox's lauded but short-lived Lonestar drama. Most recently, she (quite colorfully) guest-starred on Criminal Minds.
I'll also point out that, according to IMDb as well as the way she towered over me at TCA, Palicki is 5-foot-11, making her sufficiently "Amazonian" in presence.
Kelley and Bill D'Elia (Boston Legal) are also executive producers on Wonder Woman, while Jeffrey Reiner (The Event) will direct the pilot.
Disappointed.
I like it. I've seen her before in the Aquaman pilot and I think she's going to do great.
Also, at 5'11, she's pretty close WW, who's clocked in at the same height and then given a few more inches because of the heel boots.
I think she's real cute and a talented actress, but I don't believe she has the body for Wonder Woman. So you can count me in the dissapointed crowd also.
Kevin
....I think I can drag myself to the TV to watch her....(she reminds me of Rebecca Romijn)

Kevin, you should take a look at the current wonder woman comic. She has a pretty similar build.

I'm sure I'll still watch the series and give it a try. I've seen this actress they picked in a few things - she was in the movie "Legion." But I still would have preferred Bridget, who I've seen do a lot of action and some very dramatic stuff too. Not to mention I think she has the more classic Wonder Woman look that I prefer.

I can understand that. Bridget was always too short, too thin, and not exotic for my idea of Wonder Woman.
We'll see how this series goes. Genre TV has not had a lot of success the last few years.
Doesn't bode well that it's going to be on NBC, that's for sure.
From an earlier post."Reinvented LA based vigilante." Excuse me? That makes me a little nervous. She better have the costume old or new, super powers, braclets, invisible jet, you know what I mean. Please! I have never seen Palicki in anything that I know of, so the jury is still out on that choice. I don't care that it is on NBC just don't put in on Tuesday or Thursday. Also, I have the Aquman and Wonder Woman pilots on a DC blu-ray I bought. I believe it was Batman: Under The Red Hood I haven't watched either one yet but the Wonder Woman is from long ago. I did watch the first few minutes on the Wonder Woman and I had forgotten that it took place during WWII. Also when they were running around Paradise Island "Hello, Sweet Susan!!"

Kind of true, but I would put both NBC & Fox at the top of that list.
Fox is higher for me, here's why: Dollhouse, Terminator, John Doe, Adventures of Brisco Country Jr, Millennium, Brimstone, Werewolf, Tru Calling, Futurama, Lone Gunmen, Wonderfalls, Firefly, Space Above and Beyond, and Sliders.
Sci-fi hasn't met a sci-fi show that they didn't kill. Or in the case of X-Files, milked it to death.
Oh I forgot to add Dark Angel, Keen Eddie, and the visitor to that
The whole concept of this show worries me. 2 alter egos?! Idk, but I don't recall any of the superheros having two alter egos. I'm not too certain on the characters as well...
I'll give it a shot. I'm not that familiar with Wonder Woman, but the whole concept of this show just seems iffy to me...can't figure out the reason either...
Slice-of-Scifi-podcast is also very worried this show isn't going to work out.

You really should read more. Superman and batman have has several ids. Batman has his Matches Malone ID even when he's not using it. Spiderman had a point where he had 5 extra superhero IDs going in addition to the Peter Parker one. Booster Gold had two ids going at the same time and even fought himself. Wonder Woman has also kept interesting Ids going. When she was Diana Prince, she was a spy that had to take on other IDs from time to time. So, there is some precedence for this and it's not the first time it's happened.

Cool outfit. But one question: Do you think that gaudy red plastic lipstick protects her from fever blisters? :)

Yeah I'm use to Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman.. one thing about this outfit.. it should have red boots.. not blue.
Here's a larger version.
I think I need to mop my brow.
This looks pretty close to the redesign except with blue instead of black leg wear

Not bad. I could get used to it.
Costume isn't too bad, but I think they could have muted the colors down a bit. This is TV, not a comic book. But I suppose in the right lighting it might be better. Still think she looks more Wonder Girl than Wonder Woman.
I don't like it. Lose the leggings.

Yep. Hotpants are better. Looks a little "fancy dress" to me. Loose the bright lipstick.
Hot yes, don't know if I like it yet. Seems a little too flashy.
I think it looks good. And I also thought the colors were a little off. I really hope this makes it to the fall schedule!!
Looks a bit more "Buck Rogers" than Wonder Woman, now that I think about it more.
She looks HOT! Though she does looks like she's on her way to a fetish party!

LOL I knew what your post would say before I even clicked on the link. ;) My mistake, man. :)
The actress still looks a little young to portray the image of Wonder Woman that I hold in my head. But who knows; If I see her onscreen, maybe I'll change my opinion.
i'm in the same boat. Giving it a chance and seeing what happens.
Wow.. they actually listen to the fan feedback and made some changes to her outfit.
1) They fixed her boots! They're now red, as requested by everyone ever.
2) The colors, at least on the pants, are more muted.
3) Additionally, the pants are now not made out of latex, and thus aren't horrifically shiny.
4) She's not wearing high heels, but more reasonable boots.
5) She isn't wearing bright red lipstick, either.
6) The stars down the side of the pants aren't a difference per se, but they are much more visible now.
Looks much better. But man, she looks pretty mad - or constipated! ;)
Yeah thats the look i get when i have spent the shopping money on a new comic lol
And it looks like her boobs would pop out in the middle of fighting crime...

hmmm ... I actually like the other pants better. There is too much of a clash between the shiny and non-shiny.
Possibly the worst run form since Robert Patrick in T2 and any film where Tom Cruise is running. :eekout

Found another pic. One thought about this besides the costume, can't Wonder Woman fly? Why is she running?? (I'm guessing in this version she doesn't fly. At least not without her plane.)

Thanks for posting the picture. The costume looks more like a 'typical superhero' costume now. She still looks hot, and I, for one, would NOT run away from her!!!
she looks like Kelly Clarkston, I expect her to break out in song at any moment.
Wonder Woman The Musical, Maybe the bad guys will break out into a GLEE dance number.
I think I would have preferred the original pants, with red boots. I can't say that I am thrilled with the new outfit.
Support Bra people, most Important accessory for that costume :)
for any super hero for that matter, have you seen Aquaman?

Ahhhhh, who will be looking at the pants or boots anyway. I really liked that second picture! Hello, sweet Susan!!!! And she can run as much as she wants to. Who needs to fly when you run like that!
I second the hot-pants motion - and failing that agree with Meds on the shiny pants w/red boots.
Although a '7 of 9-esque' red white & blue cat suit with the same red boots might bring up the ratings....
Very short clip of some filming of WW running.

Was that her stunt double? Maybe it is the mobile-phone photography - but she looked like an ungainly runner.

Guess we get no new Wonder Woman :(
NBC Passes on Wonder Woman
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
May 12, 2011
David E. Kelley's "Wonder Woman" television series has failed to find a network pickup at NBC, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.
The series was planned as a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman (Adrianne Palicki) is both a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles, a successful corporate executive (as her alter ego, Diana Prince) and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.
The pilot was written by Kelley and directed by Jeffrey Reiner ("The Event") and also featured Elizabeth Hurley, Pedro Pascal, Tracie Thoms and Cary Elwes in the cast.
With NBC declining to give the go-ahead, it is unlikely that the comic book adaptation will see the light of day as a series. What is more likely -- albeit, not a guarantee -- is that the produced pilot could be released in one form or another, as was the case with the unproduced "Smallville" spin-off, "Aquaman," which was released on iTunes and sold as a Best Buy exclusive.

I agree, the new Costume was ho - hum, maybe it would have had a chance with the previous costume :)
I think it suffered from the fact they tried to give her three alter egos. As for the hotpants not having the stars and do on, which I am sure it would have been a nice look, I did not get the hoo hah.
Why do you guys assume it was bad... could have been any number of reasons they didn't pick it up for a series. I mean it comes down to a few executives at NBC who make the decisions not liking it or not liking the look of it or the story. But that's how it goes.. there are hundreds of pilots made and very few ever make it to series.
I thought there were to many alter egos for her but i still would have watched it.

I also have to say as well about the hot pants, I see hotter girls in hotter pants at the gym. I'm not feeling like that is much of a loss here. I'm not joking actually. We have an instructor who wear disco pants a few weeks ago for launch.
I think the fact Elizasbeth Hurley was in the pilot was the reason they said no LOL.

Why does anyone assume its good? ;) Just saying, we haven't seen jack squat to say one way or another.
