Madly (!) I listened to the first one today. Yes, I listened to a podcast about a TV show from another country that I've never seen and probably never will!

I have no idea who you were talking about but it came over very well and I've just downloaded the next one :)

Great job guys on your first episode.. lots of fun.. looking forward to episode 3 (though it's episode 2 of the show).. should have named your pre-show 0 (zero) so your episodes numbers coincide with numbers of the episodes of the show.

Oh sure, NOW you give me great advice Kenny! :) Actually, that is a good idea. I'll do that for next season. Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks to you as well Feathers! Even though you don't watch the show, I greatly appreciate the support!! :) You guys rock.

All caught up now on the first two shows and you guys are doing great! You mentioned in the first show that you think Flight Time and big Easy are physical threats but I don't agree. They are big and muscular, but they don't have the functional strength or aerobic strength the game often requires. I was amazed last season with the amount of physical tasks they were not very good at!
Title: Re: The FastForward Podcast

Bryan,
Thanks for the encouragement!! :)
You may be right, but I think they can be pretty cunning when they need to be. Like in their season when they messed with that girls head on the water slide. I'd like to see them in the final 3, for the same reason I wanted Keisha and Jen in the final 3 - as a team that can be beat by the team I want to win!! :)

On this action packed episode, Joyce and I give you the run-down on episode 3 of the Amazing Race - Teams made their way to Japan and participated in traditional Japanese rituals, including a lot of mud slinging! And, we share some terrific listener comments from a couple of our geeky friends (Thanks Kenny and Harry, thanks Bryan and Jamie)! I managed to acquire the first episode of TAR, watched, and then listened to the podcast. Was disappointed at first until I realized at the end that I had been listening to a pre-show intro and quickly dl'ed your "episode two" - it was pretty much everything I could hope for... Great job!

I have not yet been able to acquire any more TARs however this afternoon I went ahead and listened to your postcast re: the 2nd episode. Your rundown was good and I think I might pass on watching the show and just listen to your reports instead.

If things go well perhaps in the future you can have special fast forward backwards shows where you reflect on an entire previous season - would enjoy hearing your commentary on them.

Thanks Al and Joyce!

Love your idea of a season wrap show. I do believe we'll have to develop that for the end of the season. Nice! Thanks! FYI, Joyce and I will be planning a Skype chat show at the end of the season, just in case you're interested in joining in on the fun! Take care...Al

Jamie and I have a house guest so we were a bit distracted while watching this past episode. In fact, I totally missed the yak riding part, thanks for pointing that task out on your recap! I don't have a strong feeling or opinion on the teams, or at least a changed opinion, based on this past show. Welcome to another exciting episode of the FastForward Podcast, a weekly show dedicated to the Emmy Award Winning CBS television show, The Amazing Race.

In this episode, we cover Episode 7 of The Amazing Race - "You Don't Get Paid Unless You Win",  and what an episode this was.

India still proves why Racers have such a challenge in this country! Many teams were pushed beyond their breaking point, while others proved why they are top of the class, and yet others move into "unsavory"  character.

The Race is heating up now as we near the final legs of Season 18.

As always, if you'd like to contact us with your comments, predictions or just to say hi, you can send us an email to thefastforward@cox.net, leave us comments on our FaceBook Fan Page (just search FastForward Podcast), on Twitter @fastforwardTAR, or on our website at www.fastforward.podbean.com (http://www.fastforward.podbean.com). You can even leave us voicemail on our Tales From The Mouse House Hotline at 304-TALES23, and how about rating the show in iTunes? Don't forget to check out our Race partners over at The Amazing Race Wiki at www.amazingrace.wikia.com (http://www.amazingrace.wikia.com)

Be sure to stick around through the end of the podcast and give a listen to two great podcast promos! (Oh, and maybe a blooper or two!!) Thanks for tuning and, have a GREAT day and we'll see you....At The FastForward! ~~Al & Joyce

Ah cool, they returned to India this season. It's such a great country to travel around and I've enjoyed the TARs that go there. Just happened to rewatch the India and Thailand episodes from 1st season TAR:Asia... Great stuff! Finally got around to DLing the current #7 this morning. Will probably end up waiting to watch them all later on sometime. Will have to collect together all of your podcasts to listen then. I think the last I heard was for epi3.

The Race heats up in episode 8 "I Cannot Deal with your Psycho Behavior". Thanks for tuning in to Episode 9 of the FastForward Podcast!

As teams leave India and head to a place where the air is nearly 40 degrees colder, tempers flash for one team as they struggle with a delivery, and another team makes a possible race ending decision at the Detour.

Will Jet and Cord once again come from behind to finish strong, or will they be eliminated on this episode of The Amazing Race?

Al! Wienerschnitzel is breaded veal cutlets, it's AWESOME. Jamie and I make it on occasion, although she feels bad for the veal. Young cows are cute...and yummy! But NO WAY you could pound down those two plates of food, that challenge was impossible to complete, it was a HUGE amount.

Honestly, the biggest revelation for Jamie and I was when Vixen discussed her relationship with Kent. To be honest, we never thought they were a "couple" per se. We never saw anything in their interaction which would have made us feel they are two people in love. We nearly fell off the couch when she said that!

And I liked Joyce's comments. :)

Bryan, maybe I'm putting more faith in my gullet than I should! :) I would imagine if all those others couldn't complete that, I most likely wouldn't either, especially since it's been a long time since I've partaken in fried foods of any kind.

I wasn't really too blown away by Vyxsin's comments. I figured they are a couple, just not the "love-birds" type.

Oh, and Joyce said she'll try to be "meaner" from now on! :) Just kidding...:)

Gary was sure he could do it and he wasn't even close. He almost finished his plat but Mallory still had 75% of hers. Schnitzel is good. :)

Why would you not believe that Kent and Vixen were a couple?
Title: Re: The FastForward Podcast
Post by: Bryancd on April 25, 2011, 05:27:58 AM
Nothing about their on screen interaction or behavior has made us feel they were a couple. They show very little affection for each other and even when they have a great finish like last night, they barley hug each other and I have never seen them kiss. I don't know what their deal is but seeing Vyxen pulling Kent around in that cart was just sad for Kent.
Title: Re: The FastForward Podcast
Post by: QuadShot on April 25, 2011, 07:59:59 AM
Bryan, I just think that Kent and Vyxsin are not the typical suburban couple. They don't really show a lot of kissy-face affection but they do show a little. And I agree, the whole cart thing was a bit of an interesting light shone on Kent.
What did you think of the Cowboys being eliminated? Man, we were sad. I understand WHY The Globetrotters UTURNED them, but I didn't like it.
Looking forward to some comments on this leg! :)

Welcome to episode 10 of the FastForward podcast, for The Amazing Race episode 9 - "We're Good American People", CBS air date April 24, 2011

Don't read if you don't want to know who got eliminated!
well, in a silly turn of events... Kent and Vixen didn't read their pitstop clue correctly, incurred a 30 minute penalty and lost!  Yep, the Goths have been eliminated!
Hey guys, although GOOD news from last nights interruption, we in AZ didn't get to see the end (last 15 minutes) of last nights Amazing Race. For those who don't know (and care to know), the way we prep for the FastForward is to watch the episode through live, then watch it a 2nd time on the DVR and make our notes. Then, Monday evenings I go through and write the script for our rundown. Well, thanks to OVERCOVERAGE of this "event", We'll have to watch/take notes/write the script ALL tonight, then record tomorrow as usual. But...just in case, we wanted you to be aware the podcast may be a day late...

On that note, since next week is the finale of The Amazing Race, we encourage you to send your comments on the finale for next weeks FastForward, then, the following weekend Joyce and I are planning a big Skype round table FastForward with you all to discuss Season 18. We'd LOVE for you all to join us. Hop on to Skype and search for Talespodcast.  Thanks!! Al

Well, how awesome am I??? HUH???? :) Just kidding. Turns out that writing my episode rundown while I'm watching TAR the second time and gathering my audio clips is FASTER then the way we did it before! So, with that...we'll be recording tomorrow, ON TIME, and releasing the FastForward...ON TIME!! :) So, your audio or email comments are welcome...hint hint...nudge nudge, wink wink :)

Hey Bryan, did you give up on The Amazing Race? :)

Of course not! We're watching every week. I might be able to make the Skype call, I have a race the next morning and will be a little busy but will try. Still loving the show and will put a review on iTunes. Jamie's just not as into the whole social media thing, she doesn't even listen to podcasts and isn't a forum kinda gal. It's nice actually, sometimes the media stuff is a bit too much.

Well, sad but true. Season 18 of The Amazing Race is done. The finish line has been crossed and
NOT by the team ANY of us anticipated
!! The Amazing Race may be done for the season, but the FastForward podcast isn't!! We have one more rundown episode to do (a LONG one too) and we'll be recording tomorrow night (5/10), so there's still time to get your comments in. We'd love to have your emails, voicemails (304-TALES23) or audio comments emailed. It's been a great first season for the FastForward podcast, and Joyce and I had a lot of fun!

Don't forget to join us on 5/14/11 at Noon Arizona time for our big Season 18 wrap up Skype round table, open forum show! We'd love to have you all join us. You have no idea. If I showed you our trip to New Zealand you and Joyce would have a heart attack. We went white water rafting, cave repelling, mountain climbing, glacier hiking, skydiving, bunjee jumping, jet boat racing, canyon swinging, even Zorbing (look it up :). Jamie found clever ways to put our lives, and thiose of my brother sister and Uncle at risk every day for 2 weeks. We ARE the Amazing Race!

That caving was scary. You had to do an initial rope repel into total darkness for over 100 feet. Then a few shorter, tighter repels until you hit the water. Then you crawled through the water and tight openings into a huge cave with glow worms on the ceiling. It looked like a starry night, so worth it. The thing about New Zealand, apparently very little liability laws. Sign the waiver and you are on your own responsibility! Love it, screw the lawyers!

Coolness!! Ok, so, because our first season of FastForward seemed to be kind of successful, Joyce and I decided to keep the fun rolling and cover another season of The Amazing Race! So, to get ready for this we decided to "improve" the FastForward podcast by launching an "official" website and a brand new iTunes feed. Why? Well, various reasons but now the podcast has an improved website AND an improved name. We are now Amazing Race FastForward podcast and you can easily search for us in iTunes now. And, you'll be able to listen to ALL of the episodes for our podcast directly on http://www.fastforwardtar.com (http://www.fastforwardtar.com) So how about subscribing to the new feed in iTunes and checking out the new website? Hey Al, enjoying this new season of FastForward! I laughed when Joyce was taling about the bike riding challenge and mentioned how she like how the Indonesian's respected their cultural traditions and admonished the hippies for goofing of during that challenge. I think it's safe to say that "tradition" was one put upon the native Indonesian culture by their Dutch occupiers! LO! Something tells me that's not exactly a native tradition. We were shocked and I was suprised you guys didn't dwell on the fact that Amani and Marcus were given the answer to the challenge and couldn't remember it 15min later! I didn't think it was cheating and I loike those two but really, how do you not remember that. Pathetic.

Hey Bryan,
Yeah, Joyce was being silly! As for Amani/Marcus, well, I actually did want to rag more, but thought I shoudl "tone" it down a little since I've been going off so hard on some of the teams (showgirls) :) I like Amani and Marcus too, but they made 2 boneheaded moves in the last episode: deciding to abandon the grass fed task and doing the planting task when all they had to do was fill the bags a little more, then Marcus Forrest Gumping the answer that Tommy HANDED to him! :)

Just finished listening today. Agree it wasn't the most exciting episode, in fact I didn't remember parts of it until you guys discussed them, so clearly I wasn't paying much attention. Yeah, I am very sure that post task those corral farms were actually removed entirely. If you look where they were setting them up it was all sand bottom. They likely just filmed there as opposed over a real reef to make it safer for all the contestants and film crew. So that whole task was really just a set up.

But they are participants in the game. They are playing the game. The cab drivers were not so the analogy isn't apt.
Title: Re: The FastForward Podcast
Post by: QuadShot on December 10, 2011, 11:31:56 AM
Bryan, I can see your point, really. But honestly, if you were in the race and your cab driver got information from another teams driver that benefitted you, how would you have reacted? Don't get me wrong, I do agree with you that it wasn't fair at all, but how would Phil have penalized that? You can't penalize the teams that benefitted and it wouldn't have been fair to allow Andy and Tommy any concession to "even it up". The best that could be done it to learn and next season make sure the drivers all know. But again...then the producers would be interfering with the natural outcome of the race.  For sure, a most controversial issue to say the least.
Title: Re: The FastForward Podcast
Post by: Geekyfanboy on December 10, 2011, 12:01:24 PM
I don't feel it was right or wrong.. it's all part of the race. I mean the racers didn't ask for the taxi drivers to call the other taxi drivers to see where they were going. And for all they knew it could have lead them to the wrong place. Also in all Amazing Races teams have said to the taxi driver... "follow that cab" not knowing where they were going but assumed the team in front of them did.  I think it's just all part of the game. Some Racers have picked up locals that have spent the day with them taking them from place to place that they needed to go. There are no rules about getting outside help, other then the crew.
Title: Re: The FastForward Podcast
Post by: Bryancd on December 10, 2011, 12:36:14 PM
Yeah, no, they can't penalize the other teams for something that seemed to be out of their control, but this and other things that have happened this season just has made Jamie and I feel pretty strongly that this show is VERY controlled and contrived.

You guys I've worked on several game shows and though you may feel things are control or contrived, they aren't.. it's illegal for the production company to interfere with the natural outcome of the game. If any crew altered the game play to give a team an advantage or disadvantage the production would be shut down in a heartbeat and the company would have to pay huge and I mean huge fine. Now I'm not saying that the show isn't produced, everything is produced to a certain existent. They may have the team re do things (if there is time). Or re enact something but those can not mess with the way the teams finish.
