"Do you expect me to make a movie?"
"No Mr. Bond, I expect you to make an awesome, non-3D movie!" :bond
Lol oh Rico you know that's going to start another 3D rant lol.
Awesome news about Bond, I heard this news this morning on Tbe way to work and it brightened my day :)
The Bond franchise has been a favorite of mine ever since I was a young boy and my parents took me to see a double Bond feature at the drive-in theater. It was showing Thuderball and Goldfinger but it was Thunderball with all of it's underwater scenes that attracted this young fella. Of course that was during the heyday of Jaqcue Cousteau and his films and Sea Hunt was in reruns and I think Flipper was on. Anyway, it made me a lifelong Bond fan. I enjoy all the movies and work through them all at least once a year and I have read all the books too. So this is exciting news to me!

Judi Dench Returns As M In "Bond 23"
By Garth Franklin Friday January 28th 2011 01:56AM
Dame Judi Dench has confirmed she will be reprising the role of MI6 chief M in the upcoming 23rd James Bond film reports MI6.
Speaking to the media after the South Bank Sky Arts Awards, she said she couldn't reveal anything about the project - "Nothing... my lips are sealed. I can't tell you anything at all."
She added that she's very glad the franchise seems to be moving forward again "Of course, I'm looking forward hugely to working with Daniel [Craig] again and with Sam [Mendes] who I've only ever worked with in the theatre. So that'll be all good fun to do! I'm so glad it's coming back, it's wonderful."
This film would mark the seventh time Dench has played the role of M starting with 1995's "GoldenEye". The Sam Mendes-directed "Bond 23" is due out November 9th, 2012.

23rd James Bond to Film in South Africa?
Source: MI6
April 6, 2011
MI6, the premiere James Bond site on the 'net, has gotten some interesting information about the currently-untitled James Bond 23, which is scheduled to start shooting this November for a November 2012 release. Apparently, former cricket player Darren Gough was on a Virgin flight to Johannesburg, South Africa earlier today and he spotted director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli en route to the country. Confirmation came from an equally odd source, actor Nigel Lindsay who was visited by Mendes on the set of the London production of "Shrek: The Musical" and was told he was heading off to prep for 007 shooting.
Of course, until someone actually spots the duo location scouting, this is all still rumor, but South Africa has long been rumored as a possible location for a Bond movie though 007 himself has never visited there. Word is that the 23rd outing for 007 will also be back filming at its regular homebase of Pinewood Studios.

It's been too long. Get filming guys! :)
My first bond film in the theaters was 'Diamonds Are Forever' - I had seen the previous films on our old trusty black & white Zenith....it took some time to get the rabbit-ears just right so that Ursula Andress wouldn't look like she was wearing a bikini in a snow storm.

Sony Pictures to Co-Finance and Distribute Bond 23 & 24!
Source: Sony Pictures, MGM
April 13, 2011
Sony Pictures Entertainment will remain in the James Bond business after reaching an agreement with MGM to co-finance and theatrically market and distribute Bond 23 worldwide, it was announced today by MGM Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton and Co-Chairman Amy Pascal. Sony will release the next film in this iconic franchise on November 9, 2012 throughout the world except for select International territories, where MGM will directly oversee distribution.
Sony Pictures and MGM said the studios look forward to Sony Pictures co-financing and distributing Bond 24 on a similar basis.
Additionally, MGM and Sony Pictures have agreed to explore co-financing opportunities on future motion pictures produced by each of the respective studios for the next five years.
The two studios have collaborated directly and indirectly in recent years on numerous films, including Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, 21, Yours, Mine and Ours, The Pink Panther, and the forthcoming Kevin James comedy Zookeeper.
The announcement of the agreement to distribute Bond 23 adds another high-profile title to Sony's 2012 slate, which also includes Men in Black 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as I Hate You, Dad, starring Adam Sandler, Here Comes the Boom, starring Kevin James, 21 Jump Street, Resident Evil 5 and Total Recall.
"Sony Pictures is the ideal studio partner for us as MGM re-enters the filmmaking business. We have longstanding relationships with Michael and Amy and look forward to what promises to be a prosperous future together," said Barber and Birnbaum.
"In addition to working together on Bond, this deal expands our relationship with MGM as we explore co-financing opportunities on other high-profile projects," Lynton said. "Gary and Roger are incredibly thoughtful and experienced leaders who are outstanding creative executives and respected moviemakers. While we are excited to be back in the Bond business, we also look forward to future collaborations and I am confident that this agreement will be long-term, lucrative, and beneficial to both studios."
"After successfully working on the re-launch of the James Bond franchise with 'Casino Royale' and 'Quantum of Solace,' we could not be more proud or privileged to continue our association with Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Daniel Craig, and the talented teams at EON and MGM," said Pascal.
When Sony released Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, the films had record-high grosses for the Bond franchise, with Casino Royale taking in $599 million in worldwide ticket sales and Quantum of Solace generating $577 million.

The official synopsis:"Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."
Sounds cool. I love Judi Dench as M and Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond since Connery.

I really hope they get the damn song right. I love my Bond themes but frankly since Goldeneye they have not got the song right. Come on producers lets get a belter out there. Can;t wait for this film, already have the date in my diary. :D
I love the title song for Casino Royale by Chris Cornell. I listen to it often.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxAm8Y1w6BI# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxAm8Y1w6BI#)
Its a great song but its not a Bond song ( in the traditional sense) there is a chord progression in near in every Bond song that informs you straight away its Bond. I'll see if i can find it.
I still think it's a great Bond song. I like it when they break tradition a bit. :)
I didn't care for the song when it first broke but hearing in it's context and surround sound stereo I think it worked really well. The compressed YouTube version does not do the song justice at all.

Bit of a bearded Bond going on here. I like it, love the crombie coat as well.
Looks like 007 managed to find time to shave in the movie.
50th anniversary news.
With the new Bond film happily under way news has come on the old internet on how they will be celebrating the anniversary. Of course the film will be out and a new funky poster but what has floated my boat is the announcement that all 22 Bond films will be released on Blu-Ray in a nice shiny box set.

Ooooooh! I wants it.
Wow, that is pretty cool, a box set of all the movies to date, just wondering what the price tag would be on it.
Looking good 007! :bond
Gritty looking Bond :D
Oh we get this on October 26th which is nice. Worldwide release on November 9th.
Some new pics from "Skyfall". Can't wait to see more Daniel Craig Bond. Love the car in the 1st one!
Nice pics!
The question is now, hen the heck are we getting a trailer??
Any pictures of 007 and his new trademark drink - Heineken?? :)
BRING THIS ON, I really want this movie :)

Funny fake James Bond "Easter Egg" photoshop.
Here's a first poster for the new movie...
I like it. It's not overstated and hearkens back to the traditional Bond look and feel. Still not crazy about the title but I'm looking forward to seeing this film.
Kevin
Great looking gun barrel, lets hoping they put that in the beginning.

Really looking forward to seeing this new Bond's take on the character "Q". Q's scenes were frequently the most amusing sections of the Bond films. Not familiar with the new actor playing him, but portraying the character as a young, techie nerd makes alot of sense to me.
You can tell there are some bars to the Bond theme coming through. :D
Need to mark my calander for October 26. Looks like another good 007 movie!
The new Q.

Looks a little young for Q but I'm sure it will be alright. Between this and The Hobbit this should be a fun years end.
Kevin
My first reaction to that picture was 'good grief' but thats because Q was always Major Boothroyd but hey ho got to go with modern times and knowing the recruitment route in MI5/6 they take on lots of grads so him being young would be fairly right.
Looks more like Doctor Q. ;)
Awesome!

Great choice, i heard the rumour last week. She'll bring a bit of old school class back to the Bond Themes which frankly have been pretty non-Bondish since Goldeneye.
I have my tickets for the Electric Cinema for the Friday. :D
Adele - Skyfall (OFFICIAL AUDIO TRACK) 007 Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyYf-wkXnDE#ws)
The theme song has leaked, I love it. It's the most Bond-ian sounding theme in a long time, maybe since Goldeneye.
Looks like Youtube killed it already. But you can hear a snippet of the song at the link below. I really like it.
http://soundcloud.com/virginradiofrance/adele-skyfall-virgin-radio (http://soundcloud.com/virginradiofrance/adele-skyfall-virgin-radio)
I thought it was just kind of mediocre. It seemed to be missing that Wow factor, but who knows it might actually be fine once you hear it with the opening sequence. I don't know of Adele wrote the song but (I say this tongue in cheek here) I think Miley Cyrus or Hillary Duff could have fared better vocal wise.
Kevin
Good job that is tongue in cheek lol. I quite like this and the reason I like it is that you can hear the Bond thread music in the chords. That is what makes a Bond theme. Ok I have only heard the 90 second clip so I don;t know the full arrangement but i'm thumbs up.

I have always been partial to Lulu singing 'Man With The Golden Gun', and of course ....'Gold Finger!'
I like this song a lot and I'm not the biggest fan of Adele either.
Compared to the first version that was posted this is an improvement and it may grow on me over time. A month away from the opening and we'll see how it sets the tone of the film with the opening sequence.
Kevin
Great song. You can download it from itunes. Here is a great article on yahoo about the Bond songs including the new one.

Someone took a bit of Adele's song and blended it with one of the trailers. It really works well I think.
Skyfall Adele Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOoPjeh_vkE#ws)
Well I just came back from a evening with Sir Roger Moore. Front row seats about 3 meters from the man. Great Q&A sessions and wonderful anecdotes. He has high praise for Daniel Craig.
I tried to get a quick photo when he sat down in the second half but as the lights were quite bright and I didnt want to use a flash as its a bit rude this is the best photo i could get of Sir Roger. We were right in front of him.
That's cool, Meds. I'd love to hear some of his stories.
That video is great, Rico! I am very much in love with the song...can't wait for November 6th!
I enjoyed a lot of Roger Moore's Bond movies. I also liked 'A View to a Kill'. Which is one of the few I need for my collection.
Also with the 50 year celebration going on, Walmart had Bond movies on DVD for $5. And they had Blu-rsy for $9.99. They didn't have every movie though just certain ones. I picked up Moonraker on DVD they didn't have it on Blu-ray.

Roger Moore was my Bond growing up so I'll always have a fondness for those films but I very quickly learned how wonderful Connery is and always will be the iconic Bond, no matter who takes the part in future iterations.
I found apretty good price right now for the 22 film Bluray set, with over 120 hours of special features for just over $150.00 at DVD Empire. If I had a penny in the bank right now I'd definitely snap this up, I've heard really good things about the Bluray transfers of the older movies.

I got my copy last week when it was released. I've only watched the first three films but I have to say they have never looked better. If you think about the cost per disc is only $6.77 not including the special features disc you cannot go wrong. The Amazon version came with a collectors book about the Bond movie posters but the discs are enough for me.
Kevin
First Bond film I saw in theaters was The Spy Who Loved Me. Always loved that and Moonraker. I appreciate maybe they haven't aged well in the fans eyes but they are sentimental favorites for me.
I didn't catch this when I bought the "Moonraker" DVD but it does have an audio commentary featuring Sir Roger Moore!
Roger Moore was also the Bond I grew up with. Bronson didn't come around till after I was married!
I was only nine years old in 1965 when my parents took us kids to the drive-in movie theater to see a double feature of Thunderball followed by Goldfinger. I was hooked on Bond ever since.
Kevin
The Spy who loved me still stands up, Its a great film. Moonraker, well it's far fetched to start off with but its a fun ride. :D
Moonraker is the worst Bond film behind Die Another Day, I think. It really gets away from itself. I did like the James Bond in spacesuit doll figure when I was a kid, though.
Jaws was my favorite Bond villian as a kid, though, so Moonraker will always have a special place in my heart
I think to love Moonraker you need to be a Bond fan, a Moore fan, have been an original Star Wars fan, and a fan of NASA and the shuttle program. I was old enough to have loved Star Wars on release and already had seen The Spy Who Loved Me and was into Bond. So putting Bond in space when I was 11 years old or so was AWESOME. The shuttle effects were really extraordinary when you consider this came out prior to the first shuttle flight in 1981.
Its a fun film, though the opening stunt of the fight in mid air with jaws and Bond is impressive its slightly marred by Jaws flapping his arms and then plummeting through a circus tent. It actually took 88 sky dives to film that sequence. Derek Meddings's miniature models are excellent and really hold themselves up to any other space set film made around that time.
IMAX poster.
Saw Skyfall about 6 hours ago and all I can say is bloody brilliant. Great song, slightly slow start but when it call comes together man it's a ride. It's emotional, it's action packed, the new Q works really well, M is fantastic and well Skyfall... You'll see. Great to have the DB5 back.
Nice they mixed it up with a new director, this was Sam Mendes first time directing a Bond film.
He doesn't normally do action films - can't wait to see it.

I was a week late, but finally saw Skyfall at lunch time today and loved it! It's now my favourite Craig Bond movie! :D
Wow, what a great Bond movie and a terrific stand alone spy thriller..
The obligatory intro action scene was great! Tension, drama, amazing motorcycle chase. The train bit was a little over the top but not too much, loved it. Really liking the Adele theme song, thought the opening credit sequence could have been better (I miss Maurice Binder) but certainly more back to Bonds roots and that's the story of this movie. BOND IS BACK where he should be. The film has somewhat erratic pacing and scenes which are very long but in context and totality are worth the wait. Some action sequences are better then others and I don't think they really get as exciting as the opening. The villain played by Javier Bardem is mesmerizing and creepy. Very Heath Ledger Joker. There are a couple of WTF, how did that happen moments, but it's a long movie and clearly had to be edited down (how did Bond survive the shot and fall and where is the bullet wound from Moneypenny's sniper rifle and how did Bardem escape?). But the ending with an amazing look into Bond's past is great, Albert Finney as the "butler" is a nice addition. The scene where they get the DB5 gave me chills and the scene where it's destroyed and the look on Bond's face made me smile. And the death of M was very touching and I got a little misty! Finally the last scene in the classic MI6 office, wow, BOND IS BACK!!!
An excellent film. Excellent theme by Adele (though Casino Royal still rates just a tiny bit higher on the theme) and great visuals for the intro. Liked the movie from beginning to end and it was a fun journey. Also enjoyed the villain more in this film than the previous one. So go and see it. Also really enjoyed the ending, it gave me chills...
Just got back from the theater, loved it! Totally old school in every way, which as Bryan said is the entire point, the theme of the whole movie. Top notch, maybe the best Bond film since the classics.
Loved it. Bond is definitely back!
We were going tonight but circumstances have worked against us. Hopefully we'll get to see it before it gets pulled from the big screen.
Loving the feedback from everyone. :D The final scene in M's office is amazing, punch the air moment. He's back.
Saw it today and enjoyed it very much. I've enjoyed Daniel Craig in the role since he took over and he seems to be very comfortable as Bond now - and it shows. Very old school style Bond film and a pretty simple story overall. I'll chat a little more about it on the podcast this week but this is really a cool and slick Bond movie.
I didn't get to go yesterday like I wanted so hopefully we can make it next weekend. From your posts it sounds like I need to get to it as soon as possible.
Hit over $500 million already worldwide and about $90 mill of that just this weekend in the US.
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=96894 (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=96894)
Saw this with the wife this afternoon. Although I did enjoy the film I'm not as enthused about it as others have been. I think the film bogged down quite a lot and I'm a little disappointed that it's a departure from the direction the franchise had been going with Daniel Craig at the helm. It seems a step backwards to me. Now maybe that was intentional by the producers to celebrate the 50th anniversary but I personally don't think it was the right decision. I was hoping to see where they were going to take the Mr. White storyline next but I guess they are abandoning it. I'd be willing to bet that all the Bondisms in the film are John Logan's doing.
Kevin
I really enjoyed it. It felt like a Bond movie more then the past few. Quantum of Solace left me a bit confused, and found the stories really complex. This one was much more straight forward and had all the Bond Elements in it.
I liked the part where Bond Jumped onto the Subway Train, and the Elderly Couple made the remark. Reminded me of the Bonds of yesteryear where he would always run into the American Couple. Also pulling out the Aston Martin was really cool, especially with all the Gadgets it had and the Machine guns in the head lights. Also liked the villain, he was a lot of fun, and creepy, a bit over the top which I really liked.
Here is some info on the box office. Hopefully I'll be adding to it next weekend.
http://www.imdb.com/news/ni40477883/ (http://www.imdb.com/news/ni40477883/)
LOVED, loved this movie. Yeah, it was old school....but it's a crowd pleaser. Best Bond in along time. I do have a slight continuity question (as if that ever mattered)
If Judi Dench's M succeeded Robert Bown's M in Goldeneye, but then Casino Royale told the tale of Bond getting his Double-O status and Judi Dench is his M, and now she's dead and we get Moneypenny and the classic office....guess it doesn't matter. I mean, the last 3 ARE part of a reboot, right?
I view the films since Daniel Craig came on as sort of an "alternate universe" set of Bond stories. So I think they take things they want and mix them up a bit. Very much like JJ Abrams is doing with Trek.
I don't like to think of 'alternate universes or re-boots or the horrific suggestion that there are different Bonds. I do think having Judi Dench as M in Casino really screwed things up if you wanted to do a Bond time line.

But Dame Judi has been one of the highlights of the four Brosnan films so why would you get rid of one of the greatest British actresses just to keep a time line? I love her as M and I'm sad to see her go from the franchise but I certainly understand why. At 78 she still looks good and does a tremendous job but she may not have lived to see another Bond film. I'm glad that she went out with some closure instead of just replacing her.
Kevin
Agree with Kevin! She was terrific every film.
Yes, I really liked her. Just had all the timeline stuff rattling in my head. Was anyone else giddy at the end in that office??

I can't argue with you about John Cleese - just imagine Med's reaction if it had been Eric Idle... ;)
Still, that Kid-Q - 'Qid' - was too young to sit well with me. I can only suspend my disbelief so far.

I love her as M and I'm sad to see her go from the franchise but I certainly understand why. At 78 she still looks good and does a tremendous job but she may not have lived to see another Bond film. I'm glad that she went out with some closure instead of just replacing her.
Kevin
For the obvious reason regarding teh question that was asked earlier. Having Dame Judi as M in Casino was the main reason for the confusion as to where the film lies in the Bond canon. I have been a fan of hers long before Bond so i'm not knocking her i'm being realistic in saying that she was cast as a back up in case Craig didnt pull it off.
Also considering how bad the Brosnan films were (bar Goldeneye) she could have just slept in a scene and she would have stole it.
I often wonder how Bond can really have any meaningful canon considering the vast number of years it covers at this point. I never look at Daniel Craig and wonder if he ever looks back on that crazy bald dude from Specter with the cat he used to fight. :)
I know what you mean but when you think that he has only done 23 missions thats not a lot, say 4 a year. What about Dr No and his metal hands, all very well crushing a bronze buddha but imagine going for a pee and forgetting to not squeeze :0

That's a good point...the bit about the missions not the peeing..;) but the missions are so of their time it's hard to imagine them all occurring to one man! I kind of look at it like each Bond is informed by the previous adventures but didn't have to actually do them.
Trouble is quite a few times the past missions are mentioned, Bond visiting is wifes grave is a classic example. The dcene f Bond seeing past gadgets etc.
I personally don't care about "canon" because as far as I'm concerned there is really one one "canon" for Bond and that is entirely in the Ian Fleming novels. The movies do not follow the books they are based on nor even the continuity that Fleming incorporated into his books. The movies I think need to be taken with a grain of salt and each film stands or falls on it's own merits and not on what other actors have done and what little continuity there is between the movies. Since Casino Royale was supposed be an official "reboot" whatever little continuity and cohesiveness the previous films had was now moot. And looking at it from that perspective I think the new film does the most damage to the franchise not the fact that Dame Judi played M in two different continuities.
Kevin
Well the worst thing that can happen to a franchise is to kill its future and this movie has done far from that. I thought I saw that Craig has signed on for two more films and this movie has been wildly popular. I don't see where any damage has been done at all, care to elaborate KTrek? If you were talking about Quantum of Solace I might agree more.

Sorry if you misunderstood me to mean damage to the continuance or success of the series. I know the film itself was successful and I don't minimize that in the least and am extremely happy it is because if it had been a failure the assurance of future films would have been more questionable.
No what I am referring to is the original dialog with Meds about internal "continuity" and "canon". I think Skyfall does a lot to deconstruct what they worked so hard to build in the last two films. At the very least I think this film should have brought closure to the storyline started in Casino Royale and Mr. White. I think most Bond fans assumed we would see the start of Spectre and the next film would be the "reveals" so to speak and bring some closure to the storyline of the last two films. I just think a lot of fans thought the story would be a trilogy and then pick up on something new but Skyfall really doesn't even follow the last two Craig films at all except in that it has Craig as Bond and Dench as M. Oustide of that?...nada!
Kevin
Ah thanks for explaining. Well it's certainly not beyond the realm of possibility that future films will involve Spectre or the continuation of plot threads from the first two films. My guess though is that Quantum was such a disappointment to so many (though it made good money at the box office) that they felt a fresh take on the story was needed for this third film. I like the new/old direction we're seeing take seed in Skyfall. I'm excited to see where it leads.
Amy and I went to see this late last night. We were the only ones in the theater and when we left at 11:30 pm we were the only car in the parking lot! LOL! It was sure different than I expected.
From all the hype I thought we were getting a way more gadget orientated show. It had its moments. The villain was really different to me. He wasn't what I wanted. He was crazy enough but felt soft to me. I really enjoyed seeing the homestead and well there was enough explosions to satisfy the 11 year old in me... Didn't like Q at all.. What kind of a computer genius hooks up an evil villain's computer to the network? uh.... duh. I expected him to break out in a Monkey's or Beatles song at any moment. Exploding pens no more? Bummer. I love exploding pens.
Ok, the scene where he opens the garage and the old car is there.... THAT WAS AWESOME! Especialy the ejection gear shift. hehehehehe.
I left satisfied and hoping that they take it more this direction with the next films. I'm kind of surprised I got Amy to go with me, she of course didn't like it at all. But then she loved Breaking Dawn 2. That says something. LOL.
I'll never understand Twilight's appeal, Rick. At least to adults.
My wife and I just got back from seeing SKYFAIL..... Very disappointed :(

Really?! Do tell!
Bryan.....as you know my wife is from Glasgow and the best part of the movie for her was when that old guy said "Welcome to Scotland" there was allot of dull moments.... it started out great lots of action but it fell short. I can go on and on.... expected more. The theater was packed and we heard comment's like come on kill that guy and end this bloody movie!
i don't wanna spoil it for anyone.... hit me up and we can talk about it. :)
At least I'm not alone in my opinion on this film! I think that Barbara Broccoli sold out the franchise on this one. When the critics say "James Bond is back!" we had no idea they meant a step back!

Indeed....
I would agree parts were slow, although the same could be said for Casino Royale and yet that seems to receive nearly universal praise. I would agree it was too long, they could have tightened it up by a good 10min.
I think the pace of the film and some of the "slow" parts was very intentional. It was meant to reflect what Bond was going through. It starts out all action and then after what happens to Bond early on it has to slow down - Bond is not sure what he wants to do next. I found the film very refreshing and real. This wasn't meant to be the same Bond or the same type of Bond film as the last two. Anyway, I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I didn't mind the "slow" parts. This movie and Casino Royale in particular were about the Bond character and building that, instead of being just about teh situation Bond was in. This approach is more interesting to me.
I still need to see this!! With so many different opinions from everybody I really want to see whats going on.

Well you can't please everyone and to be fair its a very small minority who have not enjoyed it. Having examined every Bond film and also enjoyed some (have to admit I have not read them all) of the books including the one by Sebastian Faulks I think this is the way forward for Bond. So it has slow parts, it should do, its building the drama to the end segment. I think people are going to constantly want a Casino Royale, well its not going to happen, the franchise would end up being boring. Its a 50th anniversary and it had some obvious nods to the past series and for me the whole film is built to give you that last scene in the office.
The whole argument of "where did he get the DB5 from" urks me, well he won it in Casino Royale, he then went and got it done up, went on the goldfinger mission and then hid it once he got it back . far fetched?? maybe buts its a film.
Looking forward to seeing it again, either back at the cinema and then on Blue-ray.
Actually Meds I think they could have pleased both fans of the Craig films and the older films even staying in line with the new continuity. To disregard what was developed in Casino Royale and Quantum was a mistake. I mean we already had the past agent gone bad thing in Goldeneye right? Why not have had Silva be Blofeld instead and brought Mr. White in to give it continuity and connect it to the last two films? It would have been so simple to do. The Q character is beyond absurd as well. It would have been very easy to have connected the film without doing the film any damage and it still would have been quite popular and you and I both would have been happy. To reboot the reboot is just absurd to me. Especially when there was nothing wrong with the reboot. Yea Quantum may not have been as good as Casino Royale but they could have easily fixed that with this film without trashing what they did in the last two.
Kevin
I agree on the Blofeld, that actually would have been a nice move. I disagree with what you say on Q, unless you mean his silly mistake of connecting the laptop up to his main frame yeah silly move but as a character I think it's pretty realistic. The majority of new employees to SIS are graduates and they are pretty much like the Q on screen lol.
I have to throw in my comments, best Bond film ever! yes i can see the faults but briliant stuff. Good to see your comments Meds
Still haven't seen this! I really need too! I did find this a IMDB that you might be interested in reading. It talks about Skyfall getting back the #1 spot in it's 5th week. And it's the highest grossing Sony movie!

Well, we got to see it in the end and I really enjoyed it.
Casino and Quantum were too much for me and I think both left me disappointed in different ways. This was much simpler and much more enjoyable and I guess that what I learned from this is that I don't expect my Bond films to have any particular continuity. Yes it's been there in the past if you want to seek it out and make a couple of leaps of faith but its never been important to my enjoyment of things.
The extent of my appreciation of the previous two films may be evidenced by the fact that I didn't even remember that they'd left a hanging story, let alone notice that they'd ignored it.
If the next few carry on in this vein then I'll be satisfied and keep watching.
Got the Honest Trailer treatment...hilarious as always. Lindsay Lohan shows up again!

This comes out on Blu-Ray next Tuesday for those that have not seen it yet. I have to add it to my complete collection set.

Just got it last night on xbox
Not buying it yet, a special edition will be out in a few months.

I don't care about the special edition because all I need is the one disc to fill up my empty slot in the 50 years box set. I already have more special features than I will ever watch!
Kevin
Rubbish, you can never have enough extras.

Agreed!
So, Since Craig is doing (3?) more Bond films, can we expect a big stinker down the road? I think all the Bonds (other than Dalton and Lazenby, not enough time in) have at least one signature film, one or more forgettable, and one stinkeroo.
Connery-Goldfinger, signature Bond. You Only Live Twice, Stinker, and Diamonds are Forever, forgettable (IMO)
Moore- Spy Who Loved Me- signature Bond, Moonraker-AWFUL, and Man with the Golden Gun-Forgettable.
Brosnan- Goldeneye-Signature. Tomorrow Never dies-Forgettable, and Die Another Day-Ridiculous.
Craig- Casino Royale-great movie. Quantum of Solace-forgettable, and Skyfall-Signature Bond, up there in my opinion with the best of Moore and Connery.
Also, On Her Majesty's Secret Service was the second best Bond film of the 60's after Goldfinger, and I thought Licence To Kill was pretty solid.
I think all aspects came together well to make Skyfall awesome. Great writing, great photography, great director, lots of fan service due to the 50th anniversary. I hope they run with the ball and make more great Bond films. I just watched a doc called Everything or Nothing, that covers the making of the Bond films, and I really got the feeling that the Broccoli family really feels that Bond is a labor of love, so it's reassuring.
Yeah he has the option I think of another three but i honestly think he will do just one or maybe two more and then step asside. I am happy to bet good money that the next actor to step in the shoes will be Michael Fassbender.

Ooooh, he would be great, but might be a bit old to start, he will be 40 in '17 and allowing 2 years between Bonds if Craig does 2 more it will be 2017 before a new Bond gets cast. Even Roger Moore says Bond should be in his 30's. Then again, Craig is like 45 so I guess it really doesn't matter.
Oh i'm 40 this year so i'm out of the running lol
Sweet, I still have a year of eligibility! Jimmy Bond lives again!!
I'm not a huge Bond fan.. saw most of Connery, a few Moore and 1 Brosnan but I wanted this one because I had a screener.. this is the first Craig Bond film that I had seen and I really enjoyed it. I think I might go back and watch the rest of Craigs Bond movies.
I have that docu that Chris mentioned on my Netflix Q so I need to check it out. Still need to see Skyfall. They had 2 DVD versions at Wal-Mart but I couldn't find any Blu-Rays.
