"TRON: Legacy" left you wanting more of the digital-cyber universe, fear not. Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis, the film's screenwriters, confirm that they've also written a 10-part animated television miniseries that will fall in line with the continuity of the films. While a third film has yet to be greenlit, the cast and crew of the TV series, titled "TRON: Uprising" certainly speak to its quality.
Bruce Boxleitner, who played Tron in both films, is signed on. "Bruce Boxleitner is in it, Elijah Wood, Linda Moore, Paul Reubens, Lance Henriksen. I mean, we've got a really cool group of actors," Horowitz tells Box Office Magazine.
He confirms that the series will take place between the events of the original "TRON" and the current film, "TRON: Legacy."
"Absolutely. And we're treating it very seriously," he says. "This animated show will take place from when Flynn is in a safe house. It's from when Clu takes over the grid to before when Sam comes in. So if you were wondering what was the grid like before that, then watch the show. We hesitate to tell too much just yet, but it will fill in the blanks of some things, and also explore some new areas as well."
The series will add depth and fill in backstory for some of the film's more minor characters, as well as provide explanation for certain story choices. "Did we have time to do the Bartik story?" Horowitz muses. "No. But now maybe the Bartik story is in the animated series --you know, he's got a huge scar on his face. I want to know how he got that scar. We couldn't sit down and write that there's a guy with a scar on his face without knowing what the scar was. So we hope it adds to the depth of the movie. Our intention is to try and make something that is more than just, let's go get something. We treat 'TRON' very, very seriously and as writers we try to have a reason and a world for everything and not all of it gets to be shown because in this particular movie, we only had two hours."
All I can say is ..."good luck with that one". I just do not see where this can have any general interest.

I don't know about thtat. I was in a FRY's store with my brother before Christmas and saw two 10-13 year old boys going crazy over the TRON Legacy action figures hanging on the hooks.
The cast looks like a good start but is it really going to work to produce a back-story series after the release of the film?
I guess we'll see. While I'm not sure my younger children would sit through Tron:Legacy, I can see them watching an animated series.
Sounds great to me. I read the two-issue comic prequel and enjoyed it. I can see a lot of ground they can cover there.
This series sounds a lot like the comic and a lot of people are digging the comic.
Here's the trailer for the new mini series... looks pretty epic.. this has gotten me really excited for this series.

Looks fantastic. I hope they continue to use the film music in the TV series. Really works well for it.
That looks good!
Oh wow the cgi/traditional animation combo is really cool looking to me.

Beautifully executed - this demonstrates a lot of hard work and talent.
Now if Disney owned the rights to Firefly this would be perfect! ;)

I've been watching and enjoying it too. Very well done, great cast of voice actors too. Well worth watching for Tron fans.
Anyone else been watching this animated series? It's been very cool. I'm a few episodes behind still, but Clu has turned up on the show too.
Just wanted to say to everyone that if you are a fan of the Tron films, you should watch this series. It's very well done. The stories and characters are great. It has some awesome music and visuals too. Season one has finished and you can watch it all on Netflix. It's looking pretty positive we will get a second season two.
TRON LIVES!
